Inexplicable talk

647

There can be no doubt that Brendan Rodgers has played his cards very publicly this week.  I don’t know the ins-and-outs of it, but it cannot be over losing a player he could not promise a starting position to.  I’m not buying that, there has to be something we are not seeing.

We have a modestly important league game tomorrow and a hugely important Champions League qualifier on Tuesday, so between now and Wednesday, at the earliest, it would be preferable not to allow this week of internally created negativity to drag on into yet another press conference.

We are also trying to convince Dedryck Boyata and Moussa Dembele to sign new contracts.  You and I know that talk getting in the way these objectives is as inexplicable as it is indulgent.

  1. Aidan still has the picture of Emilio Player of the Year up on his wall. He told me this when we went to the game on Wednesday.

Aidan moved house just over a year ago.

    Cracking article.

  2. ACGR- I’m peed off we went into that game with the defence we did. How the heck could that be possible?

We knew Boyata was @ the WC with Belgium – likely to go far.

We must have realised Compper was not what it said on the tin when we bought him relatively quickly – The experienced guy.

IMO Jozo is the best out and out CH @ the club but he is just pickled in the head atm. He needs to get focused.

Officer Lustig was always likely to make a mistake like that after a gruelling Season/World cup and Back @ it again as if he is a sprightly Youngster.

Hot Smoked,,,”Paul has kept up the tradition of being mainly positive. Now, however, that is seen as him being a mouthpiece for The Board.”

To be honest I believe it is the refusal to look at the boards actions for a long long time that is at the root of that accusation.

Other clubs and boards get way way more attention than our own. If this blog is not independent that is a problem . And ask yourself why also ? Why would Peter need the biggest blog ?

It should be spin and taint free even if that does mean professionally criticizing your friends and people you know. We are in total agreement that any complaints about the blog should not be personal.

The questions and pressure the blog could bring to bear on some people is a weapon that has never been yielded unfortunately. We have witnessed it at the other end of the spectrum helping ,,really truly helping and changing lives ala Marys Meals and Bringing Martin Home.

And then we have someone with access to the CEO to get our questions answered but we are still in the dark about many many things. I know very little about my club of choice and Im much more up to date on a few others I look at regularly.

Would it be too much to ask for maybe a few questions to be put to PL? Ones chose by your bloggers? Even the odd question sometimes would be nice. I know Ernie got a chance once and I will not criticize him for not taking it as he had a great point when he said dont tell me tell everyone. So with that in mind if there is access why not send 2 or 3 bloggers who are universally respected and we all know who could ask a few questions on our behalf?

The ads continue to be a nuisance and lead to many bailing,,how smart is that for a blog that actually does good never mind ask why have the ads in the first place because if its funds you wish for then ask and you would have received. The posters should have been polled on the ads and I myself would like to see some polls sometimes as then the blog perhaps would give the people what they want. Polls would also make the bloggers feel that they are part of something and they can influence and direct even if only a little bit.

The bottom line ( to me anyway) is Im here for the forum . Many a time Ive just scrolled straight down knowing its not going to be anything like what you feel about the situation of the day. And then you read the comments and a lot state that.

I will repeat that should the owner take the wrong side in a battle it could prove fatal. That goes for every blog and not just this one.

    Anyway I hope youre well.

I was thinking about the last few days and there is no doubt the biggest winners over this BR transfer farce are the Zombies. Now at the time I admit I had no idea why Stevie G would entertain that club and thought he was on a hiding to nothing.

Im starting to think I see how they have sold this to him and what their plan is.

Logic tells you that if you score more than those teams that finish above you yet dont win the league,,,you fix the defence and if you keep scoring the same amount odds are you will be champs.

Sounds easy but I think that would have been emphasised that Stevie you are a half decent defence away from winning the league. So he buys a brand new defence . Hell of a good start I must admit.

And then convincing him they will score more than Celtic again?

Well focusing only on Celtic and not the Dons ( I cant focus on them as I know nothing about them ) theres actually a very very good chance you will outscore them again as ,,,

    Moussa is mostly crocked

GRiff and BR dont seem like mates and Griff doesnt get enough minutes to score many goals

Edsonne is very raw and may well get injured or just not hit great numbers even as he likes to get involved with the play.

Outscoring us again seems likely. Looks to me they have taken huge strides in the right direction on those two fronts.

Then what I think was the next thing they’ve sold him on,,,that the Champs League can actually hurt us.

    Youre shattered the next game,,,

You probably just got heavily beaten,,,

These defeats do no good for moral of the team especially the defenders nor the esteem in which their precious manager is held in,,,

The manager doesnt get the big money that comes with entry so dont worry we will spend more Stevie,,,

The fans turn on the board when they realise they arent spending,,,

Your mates in the media will crucify him after those defeats and slam the tight fisted board

And if they dont make the Champs League the fingers start pointing and they lose the feel good factor plus a player sale might well happen that will hurt morale.

Throw in bent refs,,,almost total home fans in the derbies to make the atmosphere extremely partizan,,,home draws in the cups all the way to the finals,, and the fact that if you spout we are the people Stevie they will fall in love with you.

And their final card,,,the SFA cannot take them doing 10 so will use every trick in the book to help stop it alongside us and dont worry about touchline bans and red cards will be rescinded by our friends at Hampden also.

Stevie might well have been sitting there thinking these guys have this in order and that this well doable if we just get on a bit of a roll and get everyone pulling in the same direction.

Once we get that feel good factor we max it out and me being world class superstar will carry them to glory.

Now whether you agree with that or not I think one thing could have nipped all this in the bud anyway before the season even started and laid down one hell of a marker that said boy you made a bad choice,,,

Some quality early signings would have told the world we mean business and are not budging . Could have seen their challenge and raised the bar a bit saying yeah right rookie.

I hope the above doesnt come true but I can see how we might have just gave Stevie and his team a big shot in the arm.

Time will tell as with all things. It seems a very bad time for us to gamble like we have just done.

Looks like Brendan also sees this.

Away for weekend,,please play nice my friends. Hail Hail from central California.

    Is this today’s team?

Gordon, Lustig, Simunovic, Hendry, Tierney, Hayes, Brown, Kouassi, McGregor, Sinclair, Griffiths.

A few first-choice players being rested for Tuesday? Sensible enough, and those who have been picked should be good enough.

  20. Very predictable back page today. Gerrard thanking the board for backing him. Level 5 really putting in the graft to earn the cash. I wonder how early in the game today Kieran will be put up in the air. This really is a time to show the unity that has given us the success we’ve achieved over the past few years.

If it’s to be Europa league football for us then so be it. It would be a good opportunity to develop players for the rigours of European football and develop a style that suits us for these occasions . Confident of a win today but it will be sleeves rolled up and get tore in.

  21. Good morning CQN from a bright and sunny Dumbreck. I have given my ticket for the game v The Cousins to my son as I’m off to Ayr Races with CRC but will watch it in the Admiral Bar before we set off. Hopefully we’ll pump them and Levein.

Now anybody who thinks Gerrard is managing sevco is mistaken. He is a bang average under 18’s manager, as his results in that league will testify. The huns have reverted to a tried and tested formula à la 1986 when RFCIL brought in Souness, whom history has shown to be a shit manager as well as a shit pundit.

Gerrard is the figurehead to attract players but he is not pulling the strings. The coaching is coming from the background a mixture of input from McAllister and one or two others including, possibly, the Cardihun.

They have looked at us and seen that we have problems breaking down teams that park the bus so the Modus operandi will be to park the bus against us (Watenaccio) and play on the break. This means 2 things we need to be cleverer on attack and more importantly we need to strengthen that defence big style. How many times did we see Celtic batter Smith’s hun teams only for them to score and shut up shop? The current sevco defence is better now than it has been over it’s 6 year existence.

However, the main difference this time is that we as a Club are not are not in disarray and they don’t have the BOS money to spend but I do believe that some form of financial jiggery-pokery is still going on over at the Doom Dome, same as ever.

So IMHO we need a new right back and 2 decent central defenders in ASAP. Europe is the cream on the cake but if you don’t sort out your bread and butter then you don’t get tasting the cake never mind the cream.

  22. Morning everyone!

BMCUWP, is that the team sheet from John James’ latest? Seems a wise set up, given the AEK game and the fact we are playing Hearts. What do you make of the rest of the article, if you’ve read it? Sounds depressing if it’s true and if so I wonder how many of the blogosphere will be briefed against Brendan.
