Inexplicable talk

647

There can be no doubt that Brendan Rodgers has played his cards very publicly this week.  I don’t know the ins-and-outs of it, but it cannot be over losing a player he could not promise a starting position to.  I’m not buying that, there has to be something we are not seeing.

We have a modestly important league game tomorrow and a hugely important Champions League qualifier on Tuesday, so between now and Wednesday, at the earliest, it would be preferable not to allow this week of internally created negativity to drag on into yet another press conference.

We are also trying to convince Dedryck Boyata and Moussa Dembele to sign new contracts.  You and I know that talk getting in the way these objectives is as inexplicable as it is indulgent.

  1. I am sorry I haven’t been able to read back so I am sure someone will have made similar points.

If you look at what Pauls says in the article then if you ask yourself these questions.

Why did Brendan speak out to the media on the eve of an important European game and he spoke to the Hun media? What was his motivation? What did he think this action would achieve?

I cant believe this was about losing out on John McGinn. The transfer Window is still open.

There has to be more to the issue than has come out.

When you analyse the question of Brendans motivation then the likely answers do not look well for our Club. I hope there can be a mending of relationships as the media will not give up in trying to drive a wedge into the club.

At Wednesday’s game, I thought that the crowd were comparatively quiet. I also thought the team were poor particularly after the equaliser. Now one factor leads to the other and vice versa.

I hope that tomorrows match at a hostile Tynecastle goes well, as it could go “tits up”.

Paul and I disagree on most things Celtic plc but our love of Celtic in equal

Burnley 67 and I disagree in almost everything apart from our love of Celtic

This is a blog, in real life we are respectful to each other even when we disagree as Richie and oldtim myself and DD did tonight in BV

  6. THE BLOGGER FORMERLY KNOWN AS GM

That is why he had to introduce moderators.

They have difficult job and are by no means infallible.

The abuse he takes himself he ignores. It used to be that when someone overstepped the mark they were corrected by the bloggers themselves. That fell by the wayside and things degenerated to such an extent that moderators where the only solution bar shutting it all down.

This site has done so much good work over the years in terms of charitable work and even the kano foundation that I hate to see its creator given such an unwarranted hard time.

  9. Interesting comments from Jose M there.

“Football is changing. I’m not the manager here I’m just the head coach.”

I thought that was really interesting given the furore over the non appearance of John McGinn at Paradise. It looks like it’s not just at CP that the club’s signings are decided in the boardroom and not in the dressing room.

Sinclair is on a basic 22 i believe.

Re McGinn i agree we should have done it earlier, now as we look back in hindsight, but for the most part we all agreed not to give Hibs the £4m. If you look at the comments on the article from Paul67 which i posted earlier we all pretty much said tell Petrie to GTF. Myself included. However want we didnt know was that Brendan wanted the deal done, as he has indicated this week.

  15. The past week has been pure scheitd on this blog, I felt as if devin nunes, jim jordan or putins hackers had invaded the site with an endless stream of negativity and attack on our club, names we had never heard of with the latest scam, “I’m usually just a lurker but I had tae get this off my chest, that is after I shifted my clementine collarete” and punters on here were buying it. The thought of TIAR has them petrified and all sorts of durty tricks will reappear including black north money in an effort tae stop it.

The current attack on our club started after their capitulation up at the pen, all of a sudden a player that other than Bankies, Dumbartonians and Jeelyeaters didnae want or thought we needed, has become Modric and we’ve messed up, that coupled by a schoolboy error made by one of our WC players and all of a sudden we’re oot of the Champions League and they’re going for 55 and the Europa Cup.

Nothing is always rosy in the life of Celtic FC and the Big Mhan had his moments when even he effed up by treating teams too lightly, Feyenoord and the Maryhill Magyars come tae mind, dropping the Wee Mhan and putting the Buzz Bomb on the right wing down at Annfield after their hard man Tommy Smith had been depleted as a sweeper to take care of him 5 days earlier in the first leg.

Also, dropping Joe McGoals against the huns in his first league game against them and later selling him too early tae that shower of goatshaggers in Leith who are NOT our friends, their latest bigot, who shafted us over thomson and fletcher and would have personally drove Broonie tae bader park if confessed hibbee WGS hadn’t got in the way, is just another harry swann, nae merr favours, if it hadn’t been for us they would still be looking for their 3rd SC, 11 times runners up tae and lets not forget who played a player on a bossie heading for hades on Black Sunday, a team that hardly crossed the hauf way line in the 2nd half,

MON had his moments tae, refusing tae budge from his favoured 3-5-2 making lovencrap a star, playing players who were past their shelf life and giving them big contacts and who I personally hold responsible for Black Sunday, I know all about the ebts, and not mogga who should never have been allowed tae darken the Parkheid gates again, I blame PL for that.

Brendan has been brilliant for us domestically but on the European stage, oh dear, although dropping down to the EL dinae do MON any harm in fact it bestowed legendary status on him by the end of that season.

As for the John McGinn saga, I can only think that mibbees, just mibbees he thought he wisnae really wanted, not by the management but the greatest fans in the world.

Us oul yins will remember Benny Rooney,he had played in the same school half back line as John Cushley and Bobby Murdoch when he was initially signed for us and was then farmed out tae Cambuslang Deidco lol along with Bobby.

When he was called up tae Parkheid it was at the same time as his da who joined the club as assistant to Willie Johnstone. Bob who had long been coveted by the club was a long time trainer at St Roch and was seemingly happy there (I worked with his assistant several years later, he was what we called a mixer man) Bob had a fall out with the Candy Rock and moved tae Cambuslang as his boy was there, we saw the opportunity tae grab him and did and he moved tae us with Benny and the famed Chopper.

Benny wisnae a bad player but suffered fae the “yer only here because of yer da” syndrome and eventually left for first the arabs and then St Johnstone where he had a really good career including captaining them against us in the 1969 Final, my first game after coming back fae here, losing tae a wee ten thirty goal.

Then there was Kevin Gallacher, a player commonly known as the one that got away. It is rumoured that he was advised by his family NOT tae sign for us as he would always be compared tae the “Mighty Atom”.

Is John McGinn a victim of this situation i.e. yer only here because of yer grampa and as such decided not tae expose himself tae this happening or was his journalist, and I use that term lightly, uncle in his ear tae move south as he himself was given the sugar lump at Parkheid and perhaps holds a grudge.

  17. I do not believe anyone on this blog – unless running Celtic payroll

Knows what any player at Celtic is earning

We know what PL earned, its in our accounts ?

I played in the same team as Tosh McKinlay against Kevin Gallacher’s Saint Columba of Iona, Clydebank team. Gobsmacked that out of they two, that my mate Tosh played for Celtic and Kevin didnae. Que sera.

  19. My granny goes to the bingo with McGinns granny and she said he’s on £30,000 a week.

    Crazy isn’t it.

We can’t compete, easy to talk shite isn’t it to make Celtic come up smelling of roses.

    Awk well goodnight.

  20. Who Celt the Jerseys ? on

Jeez, even Jóse’s getting dangled oot the back door ae the bus.

Wonder whit’ll be Levine’s take on the Parkheid palavir the morra, after Brendan put his nose in were it shouldn’t have been last year, how cute was that ?

The Green Brigade’s banner display, immediately after wan horse race, Ronny D’s team were put oot the SCSF by the magic hat, seemed to frighten the life oot of DD and PL. It went something like this……

    “DESMOND AND LAWWELL’S LEGACY

    EMPTY JERSEY’S

    EMPTY HEART’S

    EMPTY STADIUM’S

    Etc……. ”

Think Brendan was recruited within days after that banner display.

Be interesting to see if there are any banners the morra.

    Beep! Beep!
