Inexplicable talk

647

There can be no doubt that Brendan Rodgers has played his cards very publicly this week.  I don’t know the ins-and-outs of it, but it cannot be over losing a player he could not promise a starting position to.  I’m not buying that, there has to be something we are not seeing.

We have a modestly important league game tomorrow and a hugely important Champions League qualifier on Tuesday, so between now and Wednesday, at the earliest, it would be preferable not to allow this week of internally created negativity to drag on into yet another press conference.

We are also trying to convince Dedryck Boyata and Moussa Dembele to sign new contracts.  You and I know that talk getting in the way these objectives is as inexplicable as it is indulgent.

  1. Hey Bhoys, long time lurker (always here) very rarely post. Any of you who have worked with a big crop will understand what is happening here. It’s normal and par for the course. The manager wants something, the board don’t agree. We had a value on McGinn, the seller had a bigger one. We didn’t agree. The manager loses out and is pissed off… a little… He moves on… this happens all the time. The media are making this into a big deal when it is not. We are feeding them and need to wise up.

  15. When I see a bit of turmoil I sometimes look to provide the kind of excellent rational analysis the like of SFTB and TBB and others bring to the party, because CQN is a party really, with party goers at various stages of inebriation ranging from sober to drunk as ( I wont name names) , especially on a Friday. :)

But SFTB & co do the rationale so well and have put in the thought I cannot be arsed doing especially after a few rums that I find the spirit seems to awaken the spirit in me and I go looking for my own spiritual kerry oot to share.

Tonight I bring to the party this poem by Kahlil Gibran, the producer of the finest spirit called

    My Friend.

    Have a wee taste.

My friend, I am not what I seem. Seeming is but a garment I wear–a

care-woven garment that protects me from thy questionings and thee

    from my negligence.

The ‘I’ in me, my friend, dwells in the house of silence, and

therein it shall remain for ever more, unperceived, unapproachable.

I would not have thee believe in what I say nor trust in what I

do–for my words are naught but thy own thoughts in sound and my

deeds thy own hopes in action.

When thou sayest, ‘The wind bloweth eastward,’ I say, ‘Aye it doth

blow eastward’; for I would not have thee know that my mind doth

not dwell upon the wind but upon the sea.

Thou canst not understand my seafaring thoughts, nor would I have

thee understand. I would be at sea alone.

When it is day with thee, my friend, it is night with me; yet even

then I speak of the noontide that dances upon the hills and of

the purple shadow that steals its way across the valley; for thou

canst not hear the songs of my darkness nor see my wings beating

against the stars–and I fain would not have thee hear or see. I

    would be with night alone.

When thou ascendest to thy Heaven I descend to my Hell–even then

thou callest to me across the unbridgeable gulf, ‘My companion, my

comrade,’ and I call back to thee, ‘My comrade, my companion’–for

I would not have thee see my Hell. The flame would burn thy eyesight

and the smoke would crowd thy nostrils. And I love my Hell too

well to have thee visit it. I would be in Hell alone.

Thou lovest Truth and Beauty and Righteousness; and I for thy sake

say it is well and seemly to love these things. But in my heart

I laugh at thy love. Yet I would not have thee see my laughter.

    I would laugh alone.

My friend, thou art good and cautious and wise; nay, thou art

perfect–and I, too, speak with thee wisely and cautiously. And

yet I am mad. But I mask my madness. I would be mad alone.

My friend, thou art not my friend, but how shall I make thee

understand? My path is not thy path, yet together we walk, hand

    in hand.

  17. Division, division, division – that’s all that’s getting sown by the bangers on here.

All with their eye on September 2nd and Slippy G’s day of reckoning.

Celtic will thrive on a savage encounter with Fanny Potter’s savages today, and come out hopefully intact snarling and raring to go to Greece and put an inferior team in their place.

I say this because despite the doomsayers, if you watch Athens celebrations at the end of Wednesday’s match they are fuelled by surprised glee – delight that they withstood Celtic Park and escaped without a pumping.

There was no uber-professional satisfaction or sage acknowledgement of an expected result; just relief.

They think they punched above their weight; pressure switches to them on Tuesday, stick or twist.

The Rangers Replicants away is the best game we could have before Athens; vanquish them and our Blade Runners will take some stopping next week.

Managerial/Board political ructions will be no distraction to a group of players with the ambition of ours; Broon will see to that.

    Intae them, Celtic.

There is only one person responsible for John Mc.Ginn landing in Birmingham.

Not Petrie, who repelled our advances.

Not peter Lawwell who wouldn’t pay the alleged price tag,

The one responsible was John Mc.Ginn, who held all the aces on where he would go and when.

He chose Aston Villa for his own personal and professional reasons., as was his right.

Accept it and get over it and stop using it as a weapon to attack the club.

Rodgers was disappointed. He will get over it.

Coaches all over the football world do not sign players. Ask Jose, etc.

The financials and legalities are way above their pay grade.

There is no one on here, or on any other blog, who has the faintest notion in how to run a football club.

So ,wise up and do what you claim to be, a Celtic Supporter.

  23. Sandman,

I always like reading your ratings after the big games. I tend to agree with so many of them but Oli was surely deserving of a much higher mark on Wednesday, IMO he was Everywhere and trying Everything to get Celtic the best result possible. Some of his passing was extraordinarily sublime, the 1 down the line where so many reckoned it was gonnae go out was Cool as Cool could be.

It was a 9 from me. I know you Know he is an absolute Brammer.

If we’ve got him in the midfield in Athens then we have a good chance to progress. I’d really like to have Moussa back for it as well though.

Todays team selection is going to be very interesting. I know Brendan will treat the game with the proper respect that it deserves. It is not going to be easy, thats for sure.

I would think that line up would still have kept AEK out and they must be close on 200 years old collectively.

We are defensively shite for Europe.

  25. Garry,

Browny played his usual game but Oli is the one who is making things happen from the centre. Kieran delivered some awesome crosses that deserved a goal or 2. I can see why he was MOTM but for me it was Oli.

The game Today is important and the Team selection is going to be interesting.

Will Browny be kept in cotton wool for the game on Tuesday? No chance.

    Will Oli? Not sure.

    Will Kieran? Not sure.

Will Odsonne? I think he will. Griffalo is desperate to get 100 goals.
