It’s only a flesh wound. King goes Full Python

1151

Celtic hammered Newco 5-1 home and away last season, knocked them out both cups, won one other game and conceded a late equaliser, allowing Newco their only moment of (cough) glory last season.

We finished 39 points ahead of Newco (who were 33 points from bottom). As we set off for the summer, glowing after the first invincible treble in history, chairman of Newco, that complete muppet Dave King, told the assembled media, “In footballing terms I don’t think Celtic are as far ahead as they could have been – certainly with our new signings.”

The two 5-1 defeats now look like Python’s Black Knight losing his legs one at a time, but protesting they were little more than flesh wounds. Except Python was a parody, this guy is being serious!

So, Brendan, Peter, Dermot, get the finger out. These people don’t believe 5-1 is a substantial enough winning margin. When we pitch up at Ibrox on the weekend of 23/24 September, ‘go Medieval on their ass’ to borrow from Quentin.

Take five minutes to update yourself on The Road to Lisbon cyclists, who traveled from Celtic Park to Estadio Nacional last month.

This has been a phenomenal and inspiring effort by a group of Celtic fans – and so many donors.  What a great thing to be a part of.

With the greatest respect we are living in one of the most advanced democracies in the world. In addition to this the governing body of European football issue fines for holding up flags, banners and signing songs. And to think out Club are telling us we cant attend a match because of safety concerns. Come on.

  2. Oíche mhaith a Chairde. Many Glasgow Tims will be rightly celebrating HT’s stag party. Have a great day fholks.

  4. Evening all , just catching up .

Thanks to everyone who offered thoughts and prayers last week after my father in law passed away and also everyone who offered support and best wishes to my Mrs with her health issues . They meant a lot ,thanks .

On the Linfield game , if I lived in the 6 counties and traveled on a regular basis to watch Celtic , I’d be disappointed in the decision not to accept tickets , especially with the date and kick off time . Is safety the biggest concern or avoiding a possible fine ?

I’m afraid , that as long as the PLC , accept and offer nothing but silence when given proof about systematic rule breaking within the SFA then the cynic in me will always question their motives .

Well done to Leigh Griffiths for calling out the pish talk from the fit and proper criminal .

Looking forward to buying a right good Tim a beer tomorrow and catching up with others .

    Till then . HH

  8. Auldheid,

Over the last few years and as a result of many conversations with fans I believe much of our support feel let down once again by those who run the game from the club to the SFA. I guess the issue of apathy arises as we expect to get nothing from the SFA and carry on regardless.

From a personal perspective we are now approaching the rubicon with the Supreme Court ruling on EBT’s now due there will be no longer any viable reason to procrastinate further and justice will need to be done and seen to be done.

The only action I can take if the wrongs are not revisited is to, as others have done, remove my financial input to the game and become an armchair fan. Who would have thought in 2012 that what transpired would see lifelong Celtic fans chucking it in disgust at the unaddressed corruption within our game.

The truth by a person of integrity, wake up ffs!

What a 2 hour show from Radiohead at Glastonbury. Amazing genius musicians. Canny wait to see them in the flesh again at Glasgow Green in a fortnight.

We’ve never let our club down.

For a hundred years of our history I read of how we’d attacked other supporters. Deeper understanding showed that it had been in retaliation.

In my own time I’ve seen the Celtic support respond repeatedly to sectarianism or racism.l but so often as a result of antagonism.

That’s easy to get to for me.

    Pencil that in whenever suitable.

I can test my theory of Knox’s influence on al-Baghdadi,….i.e. How similar are their beards, and black attire:)

  31. TGM

Yeah, the OK Computer stuff still sounds fresh, and the songs are enhanced by being played live. Is it not 20 years ago this year it was released? Maybe that’s why that was the dominant album in their set. ‘Lucky’ was magic, too, as I hadn’t heard that live before.
