Keep Kyogo out of the squad

730

It is five weeks since Kyogo Furuhashi pulled up with a hamstring injury.  Almost four weeks since he returned for the League Cup Final and nearly three weeks since the recurrence of his injury forced an early exit against St Johnstone.

You and I have been watching football long enough to know that from the off, we are told players will need three weeks to recover from even a mild hamstring strain.  Kyogo may well be superhuman, but he has not been permitted this recovery period.

A return against Hibs on Monday looks foolhardy, I would also be reluctant to play him against Alloa the following weekend.  The Hearts game at Tynecastle on 26 January is exactly a month after his last outing, that should be his target.

Nae fitba being played at the moment. Thought you might have noticed.

I’ll check the CQN guidelines to see if 3 sleeps before a vital game qualifies for “fitba being played”.

  2. Ange says “no more incomings’, and who am I to doubt a man who just grows in stature every time he speaks. However when things settle down south at the end of the window, I would not bet against a significant loan – perhaps a centre-back?

It won’t be Benkovic, which is a great pity, as from all I seen when he was here, he appeared to be a perfect-fit – of course so too was Paddy Roberts, and he won’t be coming either.

Finally an aside – I think John McGinn is en-route to being a really big star – but where? In my opinion he would make an immediate & positive impact at Man Utd – he could be just what they need to waken them up….but oh what might have been!

  3. Moderator informed me that we can talk Celtic and football. Inside the qualifying period.

Are Ireland’s trade/export figures not distorted due to it being an off shore tax haven (which in itself is an interesting concept for the cult to get their heads around)?

    ____________________________________________________________________________________________________

I’m not sure Ireland’s Department of Finance and the Revenue Commissioners (Ireland’s Taxing Authority) would agree with the term ‘tax haven’. Regardless of how Ireland’s imports and exports is sliced and diced its trade with Britain – 90% at independence to now trade with Britain 10%. I’m not looking to get into an argument with those pro or against independence as I have said previously, I left Scotland 30+ years ago. However, my question for people in Scotland is look at Westminster if you can’t do better than that then there really is no hope for anyone and parliamentary democracy is a failed project.

Fair do’s – all I would say is that actions speaker louder than words.

Ange has name-checked Michael Nicholson on a few occasions, and to my ear has inferred that he(MN) was instrumental in his appointment & the signing of players, in the summer, and now in January.

It is obvious, to me anyway, that there is a strong bond between CEO & Manager – I say Hail Hail to that!

  8. St Stivs Thanks for the Rockall song. As a young lad going on holiday to Donegal, Greencastle actually, I listened to my uncles and my father who all were fishermen in their day talking about the Atlantic where they fished. So Rockall was a name I knew from an early age. What happened to the Brits? Did they get Rockall or was the other that I dare not mention in case I scandalise some on here.

Oh, I apologise for the non Celtic stuff. I do hate all the political garbage on here. Lets be more Celtic minded. But I could not let Rockall go without comment as I am so proud of my Donegal origins.

  9. I see Brisbane Roar FC are wishing their former player Stuart McLaren well in his new appointment as Celtic’s Under 18 manager, has this been reported elsewhere?

    Respect.

But, if I am interpreting your thought process correctly (debatable) ….

… wouldn’t it be safer all round if Kyogo targets Dundee United on Saturday, 29 January?

I’d be surprised if the Japanese national team would think a guy who has been injured for months (not forgetting they started the sequence)

    …. playing, say, 70 minutes …

    is clearly fit …

… so should jump on a long haul and join up with our group less than 48 hours before we play?

  11. Connaire 12

Britain has claimed Rockall as has Ireland, Denmark and Iceland. Either way it is still in dispute and no one recognises Britain’s claim which has to be lodged and ratified at the UN convention dealing with ‘the laws of the sea’ and none of this has happened. No matter how many Marines or former SAS men spend on it will not change the fact that it’s a disputed territory and unless 3 of the 4 who claim it give up that claim it will remain so.

I see Monday’s game is available throughout the UK on ppv at £12.99

    ___________________________________________________________________________________

I assume Pass to Paradise still works for Monday’s game?

    ————–

99% sure it’s not available on the Pass as there are no restrictions to entry. Probably gone PPV to get cash from those who chose not to travel to the game from Ireland / England.

PS good points on the Irish economy; tax will be min 15% now but still lower than UK.

If Scotland does go independent, we probably will see Ireland and Scotland competing for similar businesses (finance, pharma, IT). If Scotland drop the corp tax rate to get business in , they will rely more on PAYE like Ireland do and raise personal tax and cut spending. We pay for school books, exam papers, prescriptions (at retail prices) , private health care etc etc; but we don’t have a Council Tax as such or water bills. Makes comparison difficult but we definitely pay more tax overall for fewer services (goes in the bottom line of corps)

Irish GDP and tax take is bouncing back but as usual the effects are seen in Dublin and take years , if at all, to be seen around the country. Very sad driving through some towns in the West with so many shops/pubs shut for years. A bit like Ayrshire

Think about the tenacious Dublin guys currently swimming from the North of Ireland to Portpatrick for childhood cancer charities.

i’ve made that point in Dublin many times but as my colleagues are capitalists, they don’t see the issue.

Ps on Kilmainham gaol tour they make the point that it was the local business association (round table , masons, CBi type thing) that lobbied Maxwell to shoot Connelly as he was a socialist thorn in their sides for years.

Good luck to the swimmers, they’re going to need it! I have a neighbour who has completed open water swims all over and he too swam the North Channel. He says by far this was his most difficult swim not only are you swimming east to west but a large section of the channel has an extremely strong north to south current, in effect the effort to swim against this and not end up in the Isle of Man means you swim about twice the distance. He had a support boat, as these swimmers will, but he said he was never lonely as he had thousands of jelly fish for company the whole way!

  23. Coneybhoy- had Connolly lived, fought through the tan war and civil war, he’d have been got at some point. A threat to the establishment native or invader – he was never going to be allowed to influence the shape of independent Ireland sadly.

  24. Ernie – the European Union should replace China on your ‘list’. And stick the UK back on it until such time as the remnants of empire wean themselves off that dysfunctional teat
