Krasnodar fans on Kouassi Eboue

Our man Zbyszek joined a Krasnodar fan website last night to ask about Celtic signing target, Kouassi Eboue, from Ivory Coast. Here are some of the comments he got back:

“He has good technical skills, is fast and is good in the air. He’s shown to be comfortable in hard, dirty, games. At 19-years-old, he needs a good coach for his next step forward. I think the guy has a wonderful future ahead of him (or I know nothing about the game).”

Zbyszek asked why Krasnodar are selling Eboue:

“Krasnodar have a Financial Fair Play axe hanging over their heads. They have no money to strengthen the team and are in debt. They are also limited in the number of foreigners they have have in the squad.”

Eboue gave a recent interview to a Russian newspaper where he said:

“I’m always ready to play whichever position the coach things best, whether as a defensive midfielder or in the attacking zone. I feel I can grow as a player by becoming more involved in the attacking game, my coaching now concentrates more on this part of play.”

Kouassi grew up in a poor village near Dabou, in Ivory Coast. He first kicked a football at 5 and was invited to a local academy at 10. By 15 he received his first invitation abroad – Armenia, where he moved three years ago.

Krasnodar coach, Oleg Kononov, took an interest in Eboue, who trained with the club for a few weeks before making the move ro Russia formal in May 2014.

The player turned 19 less than a month ago, so his rise to an established first-team player in the Russian Premier League has been rapid. This has been a challenging deal for Celtic, a lot more so than scouting the best breaking through at Tannadice.

It goes without saying that if Brendan Rodgers buys the guy, I too would welcome him unconditionally. Bear in mind though that his asking price is almost 6 times that of Moussa’s.

I don’t have any prejudice against bring in prospects but how many times can boys win prizes… to paraphrase and parody some tv know-all.

If he signs for us, I want him to be the best he can be,

Tempered forged steel is better than forged steel, but tempered costs.

Signing an dynamic midfielder who can defend, is at a good age and has potential to develop is a good thing.

Remember that Victor Wanyama was a 19 year old midfield player none of us had seen but who went on to become a star for us and has proved he could hack it in the CL and later in the EPL.

A midfield of Brown, Eboue and either Rogic or Armstrong has experience, pace, power and skill.

    It’s a great thing.

Hopefully things go through and this young man helps us go on to lift the treble and helps us into next season’s CL.

For my money Celtic need another striker and another central defender and possibly a keeper.

  3. Every transfer is a punt unless you are buying a ready made star, which we cant afford. The boy has already had European experience in a good group, which his team qualified from.Thats a bonus. His resume fits the mould of a BR signing, fast, strong, technically good,it seems he is no pushover either according to Zybzeks report.

At the price,he is a must buy.I am sure Kolo Toure would have been involved with his opinion.

Happy with this one.The Ivory Coast can produce them.

No Youtube? His puntiness levels have just increased existentially to infinity and beyondiness.

Beyondiness – further than beyond where nessy Lives

He’s only played just over 10 games, in Russia too. Russia only allows economically opportunistic youtubes.

I see it even worse. How the hell was he scouted If he is not got youtube clip?

By the way, where is McGeady money gone?

As we only have two recognised strikers I think having another one there is a good idea.

We have 3 recognised centre backs who play – Toure, Sviatchenko and Simunovic will probably need one more back up.

There also appears to be some suggestion that De Vries and Bailly may leave. Another keeper is necessary if that happens.

A lot of people are talking about a number 10 midfielder but I think we have one in Tom Rogic and we have 3 deputies for that position – Armstrong, McGregor, Christie

  8. Eboue is a gamble but worth it i think.

Age should not always be considered a weakness.

Lubo at the older side of the spectrum proved it.

Pogba was not trusted by Ferguson at Man U but was given the chance at Juventus were he flourished.

Man U then had to pay a hefty fee to sign him back 4 years later at 23 years old for a hefty fee.

Maybe this is a signing with the same idea as Dembele who we can sell on for an enormous profit after they make a good contribution for 2 years.

Like other posters i do want us to sign an experienced midfield general to guide this young talented squad along with Broonie.

  9. Smiling thing to the post above,of course.

What I heard, the guy has had very good InStats and other indicators from League Europe games.

  10. Some idiot Monkey fan on Monkey Media trying to make out it was a Celtic fan in the Monkey end racially abusing Moussa. Not many buying it though.

There are fuds everywhere. Guy near me was singing something about “Dumbele’s a looky looky man” despite young Dodoo being on the pitch.

Fuds everywhere – don’t try and make up shit to cover for some of our own being fuds.

You think we need another striker when we already have Leigh and Moussa? Would the new guy be of a higher standard than these two?

  12. “a Financial Fair Play axe hanging over their heads…”?

i wonder where that axe gets kept – i can think of a struggling wee scottish “club” that might be worrying about that axe getting wielded by the scottish football authorities……. nah – just kidding! ;-)

ps: off topic, i know, but…..

i’m loving the msm mantra about sevco having “two more games” against the hoops this season

this is surely predicated on them a) surviving the season and b) more importantly – them finishing in the top 6

    i’d have thunk

Didn’t you vociferously, and aggressively, endorse the signing of Cifti?

I would think that 93 million could be described as”A hefty fee”in some circles.

    Smiley thing.

Nope.I said he had always caused us trouble when playing against us and looked a decent player for them,so worth a punt.Still think it was.Just did not work.

  16. FAN-A-TIC:

Cost is a gamble though. 19 your bones are brittle and sometimes too is your heart. I’d rather see Celtic bring in an established footballer as opposed another hopeful Christmas stocking filler.

Competition is healthy and it guard against injuries and/or loss of form.

It wasn’t too long ago that people were looking at Moussa’s goalscoring record (wrongly I felt but some people thought he had run out of steam – more on twitter than on here I might add).

It’s unlikely that Ciftci is going to be at the club so just having someone else in reserve is a good thing unless we are promoting someone from the youth team like young Jack Aitchison. If we are not signing someone in that position then I’d like to see him get some game time to allow him to develop.

  18. TURKEYBHOY:

Apologies mate, I thought I remembered you saying he was Celtic class… or words to that effect.

  19. KITALBA on 4TH JANUARY 2017 1:45 PM

Was it not Pele himself who endorsed Rafael Felipe Scheidt?

Well I am in good company then with Ciftci. Also Henrik with Bangura. We might all be geniuses but we can be wrong.

    Very occasionally.

    Have a look at yourselves!

Questioning the club for spending . Do you honestly think they haven’t delved into things ? On the other hand I’m pretty sure all you are doing is regurgitating snippets.

  21. SNAKE PLISSKEN:

I think we should send out all our best prospects on ‘subsidiest’ 2 year loans. At least. Sending them out for 6 months is degrading to all parties concerned. Unless it is an emergency. Just my opinion.

Was a time we used to send our diddies out to Blantyre and Maryhill and the like. What became of them?

  22. TURKEYBHOY:

Everybody can be wrong, everybody can make a mistake. But it is better if you don’t make mistakes.

Yeah a longer term loan would make sense.

I think there also might be options this season to get more of our young guys first team game time.

  24. SNAKE

Can’t argue with much of that except we play one up front like most modern sides, and three top

class strikers might be one too many.

Mind you, as Peter Lawwell is already plotting Moussa’s departure according to the internet (to line his pockets) – we might be needing a perestroikas.

  25. Snake Plissken

“Competition is healthy and it guards against injuries and/or loss of form.”

No doubt about that but balance is key.

I don`t think we need three player vying for each position. Such a scenario would not leave any opportunities for young players coming through.

    JJ

  26. I cant see the need for another striker.BR likes to play with only one through the middle.I really cant see two class strikers willing to sit on the bench.Anyway,in an emergency,I am sure Scotty can play there. With the support the strikers get from our midfield,I probably could.

  27. Greenpinata

    From previous.

You’re correct, my post was sweeping and probably was uncalled for, posters are free to comment/not comment as they see fit. My ‘excuse’ is that the post I referred to hit a personal nerve.
