Ladbrokes SPFL-PR warning media to stop title stripping talk

1623

I’m told by a broadcast journalist friend that Jim Traynor, of PR company Level5, started Newco Rangers broadcast media conference yesterday with a warning to journalists that discussion about title stripping was off limits.

The law was that if manager Mark Warburton was asked about the proposed sanction for Oldco Rangers financial doping the conference would be stopped.

Say what you like about journalists, but they regard being told what to ask, or not to ask, as a line in the sand issue. Traynor, a journalist for decades, should have known better than to make such a rookie mistake.

He was told that attempts to subvert discussion about Oldco being stripped of titles is not something that would be accommodated. By the broadcast media, anyway.

Warburton was subsequently asked about title stripping and although he was happy to answer, I’m told, this angered the would-be news-denier, whereupon he “lost his temper”.

Post-conference there was a bit of chat about how they would be able to appropriately report on less-partisan issues, like the Level5 PR-controlled Ladbrokes SPFL, although there was a consensus that “He’ll fall out with everyone soon enough. He always does”.

I never hate or despise anyone’s beliefs – sure that is bad for the soul.

Anyway here is a question for you or anyone else for that matter.

What do you do if you are a horse that is put out to stud and you don’t want to be doing that sort of a thing?

There should be a union for reluctant horses and the like.

Forcing the oul horse to perform for money which he doesn’t get is a disgrace.

I don’t believe in that sort of a thing at all.

  4. AAFG,

    Good post, and pertinent questions.

I am not a fan of Ronny Deilia, for the simple reasons that he continually makes the same mistakes, and shows no sign of improving.

His biggest failings in my view are his tactical inflexibility and his ‘in game decision making’.

In Scotland, we are successful because we have better players, and without wishing to appear arrogant, with the resources we have, it would be harder not to win the league.

Your question, was, does RD deserve more time.

If I saw improvement and / or learning from mistakes, I would say yes, give him time.

Sadly , IMHO its Mowbray all over again.

I’m not sure that horses, or any other non-sapient animal, has the ability to adopt such a complex propositional attitude as “reluctance”. I’d imagine they either just get a hard-on…or not.

One thing I miss about Scotland, although I caught a glimpse of it during a summer visit to Glasgow, is the sixth sense that we all have.

I saw dead peepil. All the time.

Been thinking since midweek how to put across what MUST be done to see the survival of football in Scotland.. cos that’s how serious I feel this situation at present is.. and feel you have summed it up perfectly.

If nothing is done, those who have any sense of honesty or integrity will walk, and not return.

I listened to the cheat Rae on snyde radio, DEFENDING himself and refusing to give up his stolen honours.. how could anyone, ANYONE, who has ever done an honest days work in their life, watch or listen to him again and his cheating partners without revulsion, without a feeling of anger, without feeling that crime pays, and we and the Governing bodies stood by, allowed it, did nothing and continue to support them by allow them to be a part of our lives, in the knowledge that they stole from the public purse and refused to pay their social taxes.

Income tax and PAYE are the means by which our society survives, it gives us the neccessities required for basic survival in this country.. Tax evasion is a crime against society.

If they win.. then we have lost and football will be the first to die.

I thought , Celtic would make amends for the Molde away reverse, and posted the same.

They didn’t in a bizarre game, that even by half time was still clearly winnable, with the players we had.

The difficulty with ‘the Ronny haters’ ( I’m not including you ) is that the people who would have to replace him would be on the phone to America looking for Owen Flop Coyle, or back in for another pop at Roy (Mad Ar8e) Keane, or a quick speed dial to Jackie Mc in Yorkminster.

The world and even Owen Coyle’s granny know that Celtic can’t ‘defend’ properly against European sides, and especially not with RD’s flawed high pressing game.

Celtic’s and RD’s next move is beating Ross County just like Harry Redknapp spotted, there are no people in place to adequately replace someone, they’ve already picked.

  12. Even though things don’t look too bright just now at least we have our history to comfort us.

And one hundred years ago today we beat Aberdeen 3-1 (sound familiar?) at Celtic Park.

Sniper Jim McColl with a brace and Patsy Gallacher with the other one.

The Glasgow Herald slated Rangers for beating Queen’s Park 6-1 at Hampden.

  17. The discussion re Stallions mating. rekindles a conversation I overheard many years ago re the difference between a mule and a ginnet. When a guy correctly stated that a mule is the offspring of a male horse and female donkey and a ginnet from a male donkey and a female horse a well heeled lady interjected loudly,” I don’t believe that , How could a horse fall in love with a donkey”. True story.
