Let’s have a change

375

Since Martin O’Neill arrived 15 years ago, the number of games Celtic have played with truly no pressure on is less than 30 (or about the same number we played the season before he arrived).  There’s almost always an angle when Celtic take the field, even after the league is won, whether there’s a cup final to prepare for, or a close rival to take on (as last week), or a trophy to collect (as next week).

But not tonight.  Tonight Celtic can take the field with a broader agenda than simply winning the game, we can experiment.  Hopefully we’ll not see players the manager doesn’t want, and there’s little point filling the team full of mainstays of the side.  Tonight is a chance of Darnell to continue his rehab, for Lukasz to give Gordon the night off, for (deep breath) Stefan Scepovic to lead the line!

Big Jason has had a fantastic season, but unless there’s enormous changes in Manchester, he’ll wave goodbye next week, so give Eoghan O’Connell a start.  It’s also an occasion when Ronny might want a look at Tom Rogic.  In fact, I want a look at Tom Rogic.

A change at goalkeeper, right back, central defence, centre mid and striker would give all areas of the team a fresh feel.  Let’s have it.

  2. "mouldy67" supporting the fearless Oscar Knox on

    Hello team, would be looking for your help to spread the word about campaign;

“The 8th May 2015 will mark the first anniversary of our friend’s child, Oscar James Knox, gaining his Angel wings. To celebrate Oscar’s short but memorable life, we’ve organised a 223 mile bike ride over three days.

We’re using this opportunity to help another young child who desperately needs support: and fast. Eileidh Paterson needs £100K by June in order to receive specialised DFMO cancer treatment in the USA. That treatment is not currently available in the UK.

On Saturday 16th May 2015, the cyclists will leave Forres, Eileidh’s home town, bound for Inverness. There, they will take in the SPFL match between Caley Thistle and Dundee United, raising awareness of neuroblastoma, and in particular Eileidh’s plight, before setting off south to Glasgow, and Celtic Park, home of Wee Oscar’s favourite team.

We have set up this team page to raise awareness and much needed funds. Our team have a common goal to raise money for the Neuroblastoma Childrens Cancer Alliance (NCCA UK). The team are Steve Taylor, Kevan Lawler, Iain McGovern, Robert Campbell and Paul Muldoon.

We are football fans of different teams with a common goal: to make a difference for Eileidh in wee Oscar’s name.

We would like to ask for your help by donating to Eileidh’s campaign.

According to the back page of the DR all the fans across the nation have been talking about league reconstruction and Dungcaster is going against their wishes. If it’s in the DR then it must be true………….

    Good evening bhoys and ghirls!

Aye. It was just an observation. We participate in our own way. My own oberservation would be that if it doesn’t make you feel good, stop and go and do something that does.

No point in filling yourself with negativity repeatedly. It’s like forcing yourself to eat a food over and over you dislike.

    Life is short.

Just bumped into the bold Lennybhoy as he was coming out station. Told him I would not be on until Monday. However just seen a headline in the Evening Times above an article by Derek Johnstone. Something like ‘ King and co can afford to keep Ashley waiting’ . Is it me or lardyboy who is missing something here?

In the main, I wouldn’t put anything past the powers, but on league reconstruction in time for next season, just canny see it.

The top div teams would want it for the cash, but so would the championship, there’s the sticking point, so don’t think it will happen.

    Proper measures out there, eh?

I was going to ask you about Puerto Andtrax, as I’ll be in Camp de Mar for the first time in Summer and I noticed it was nearby.

However, Malorbhoy has made it clear in his post to you that it’s worth a visit.

And Malorbhoy, any gen on Camp de Mar would be appreciated if you get a chance, especially transport links as I won’t be hiring a car.

    Hail Hail.

  11. Boyata, 25 this year, played about 30-40 first team games in his career, one year left on his contract. One of many talented youngsters who go to teams like City and Chelsea to rack up the money but not develop as a player. Looked average on the few occasions I’ve seen him, certainly no Denayer. Hope Ronny can work his magic.

  14. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Sad day in our clubs history with the anniversary of the passing away of two of our greatest Celts, Bobby and Tommy.

Both epitomised what playing for Celtic was all about. They were Celtic greats on and off the pitch.

  15. Gary, Wiki (I know, I know) give his salary as £97,000. A princely sum to me but doesn’t look too pricey in the football world.

  16. Tontine Tim

That’s such a shame for the kid, seemed to have real potential from what I’d heard.

  17. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

If we sign Boyata, how long before he starts getting called Derek not Dedryck.

Just off to Celtic Park tonight to see Paul Larkin’s Astersik Years, really looking forward to and hopefully a victory for us tonight. We rarely play well at McDermid Park. If we win it will be by one or two goals.Other than our 3 nil win earlier this season and a 4 1 victory four or five years ago, its a ground we seem to struggle at.

Looking forward to see the new banners tonight especially after dark when they will be lit up.

Bada Bing thanks for posting the picture in the last thread of the banners all lit up. It looked stunning..

  19. Tommy & Bobby, two of the very best.

Tommy is my favourite Celt of all time, thrilled that after the Holy Goalie saved the final penalty in a Euro shoot out, can’t remember was it Shaktar. It was either Ruskies or Ukrainians. Arthur went on a sprint and the team caught up with him bang in front of my seat in the Lower North Stand. The bold Tommy sprinted up and dived headlong into the pile of bodies. A moment I was privileged to see close up and one I’ll never forget.

When we started our CSC, it was shortly after the death of Bobby, we contacted the Murdoch Family for permission to call our Club, The Bobby Murdoch Memorial CSC. They gladly gave permission, and met us on our visits. We had Bobby’s widow and his son as our guests at an evening in the Kerrydale to raise funds for Guillain-Barré syndrome. That was my first experience of the amazing generosity of Celtic Supporters. Also met his brother and other members of the Murdoch family. Lovely lovely people and great Celts.

To Tommy & Bobby, Celtic Legends.

  20. Stuart McCall and Ronny Deila’s granny are frontrunners for the Ibrox job.

  21. STV getting tore into BBC Scotland for not giving Scottish Football a fair share of the licence fee money. Of course, STV stopped giving anything to any team (apart from support for the deid team) a long time ago.

  22. Ya know, I thought about Sevco not giving M. Ashley his £5M Loan back. I thought it was, irregular, immoral or even illegal. Then I thought, do you know, they may have a point. If their not ready, why should they give it back. Obviously with f&p people all over this, the SFA don’t mind.

So here’s my proposal – we keep our Loanee JD, if Manchester City want him back, we ignore them. If Manchester City demand he comes back, we tell them we’re not ready to give him back yet.

We keep him for the UCL qualifiers, if they still want him after that, well they’ll have to negotiate getting him back.

Seems fair to me, and fair to mo!

    St Johnstone 1:2 Celtic

  23. Here’s some incentives for us tonight –

    1. We’re 14 points clear and so the ole ‘win the league by 20 points’ is still on.

    2. Perhaps more realistically we have still only conceded 17 league goals and are just 2 clean sheets away from equaling a 96-year-old record.

    3. My 2 Bhoys have shelled out cash for tickets and taken some time off work to rush up there on a Friday night. They deserve a performance that will justify an extra special Ronny Roar!
