Madden, gambling and decisions you cannot explain

363

I was pretty nonplussed when Bobby Madden was appointed for our game against Newco at Celtic Park last season. His favourite team is neither here nor there, but elements of his performance gave grounds for concern.

He should have red carded Jason Holt for his dangerous lunge on Patrick Roberts. The same card should have been shown to Clint Hill and awarded a penalty for the scything of Leigh Griffiths. Kenny Miller could have been sent off for a two-footed lunge at Stuart Armstrong. These incidents were not merely in favour of one team, they could clearly affect betting markets.

Money can be made on more than just the result in football games. You can bet on a red card being awarded, or not. If Madden awarded Celtic that late penalty, he would had no choice but to dismiss (already booked) Hill. The Halliday challenge had to either be ignored, or result in a sending off. So Madden didn’t even award a foul.

For a man with the length and extent of Bobby Madden’s gambling issue, this raises red flags. Thousands can be made on knowing the outcome of a seemingly innocuous element of a game of football – like ‘Will there be a red card?’ Only for the game against Newco at Celtic Park, there was nothing innocuous about that question.

Madden cost Celtic two points the last time these teams met at Celtic Park and stopped our then-18 game winning run. Betting markets were influenced at the same time. I fear we are in for more of the same tomorrow.

The SFA have a duty of care to ensure our game is clean of betting influence, this must include a clear acknowledgement of referees gambling histories.  I’d avoid betting on tomorrow’s game, it is susceptible to unusual events.

Heard that, but he won’t use it as an excuse, just no his week, beaten by the better player tonight.

Would really like to see the young Welsh fella beating him the morra and then beating the MvG fella, if he gets past the other newish boy Cross.

Miami Showband massacred by British State Forces. Irish PM Charles Haughey targetted by British State Forces .

    Oh look, it’s a squirrel…..

Gerry Adams, that old Brit chestnut?

  3. The Referees’ Strike was not caused by CFC or NFL. It was instigated by Dallas to cover up his concocted story of support for Dougie Dougie when he denied a stonewall penalty at Tannadice (which could have been given for 2 separate offences), and then blamed it on the Linesman- who clearly gave the penalty initially. I was there on the day and had a very good view of that travesty.

  4. After watching st mirran games tonight i got to thinking about our squad.

Boy Morgan looks very decent and clearly has a bit about him. Looks a welcome addition to forrest, sinclair and young johnson, add hayes and i dont think we will see roberts back next session or anyone else in wider position given we will have 5.

Right back appear covered with lustig tied down and Ralston signing a new contact i would expect gambo will be offskie in january.

Kt is left back and cant see many dislodging him so maybe the german lad and curch (highlight rate youth) will offers enough covered moving forward.

Cant see boyata or erik staying beyond the summer. Sumonivic, the emergance of ajer and the purchase of the german will hopefully sort out centreback, but with only i would think another one is needed (unless we want to go with lustig, Kt if injuries occur)

Cant see amstrong here beyond this session given the short term deal he signed and that feeling is not helped by a return to some kind of FORM just prior to the january transfer window.

As much as i like rogic i can see him moving on in the summer too as he simply cant play the high press games.

Allen can hopefully be moved on asap, he will never make it here.

Why bitton would stay beyond this session is anyone guess, think he will be looking to move on come the summer simply for more games time.

Christie’s return would soften the lose in the middle, with the emergance of ncham, brown, malmac and hopefully eboua stepping up. We need a creator who also has the ability to high press alongside rest of team.

Dumbele looks offskie but again the blow will hopefully be softened by the griff, the emergance of atchison and the purchase of another up and coming striker. Chefchi is finished here.

If we manage to sell and release those above we would potentially have a very big chunk of wages and transfer money to purchase several quality players of high potential. A defender, central midfielder and striker. Sort the goalkeeper situation out when gordon and ddv’s contact come to end

I think it is evident that Maddens bets for tomorrow are known, therefore if he carries through he is bang to rights, I expect a thigh strain and a change of ref before the match

    Ha ha, belter!!!

I’ve not been on for a while but his has to be the best ever blog by Paul67. I like it, I like it a lot. Calling out the hun influenced referee appointed to todays game as a gambling addict certainly takes some huge testicular fortitude.

There’s a thread on follow n swallow and P67 is centre stage. Aside from the usual taig, tarrier bullshit bravado and hubris posts, there’s a few gems that point to them realising this is the way it has actually been and they know the jig is up.

Anyway, I hope all on CQN had a great Christmas and enjoy tomorrow. I wont be there as I cant stand to be in the same vicinity as seven thousand zombies. My ticket has gone to a good Celtic man.

  16. I’m surprised that poster’s are surprised about the news with Bobby Madden.

In fact I’m convinced that this is not new news and that this has been revealed by Paul 67 previously.

At least this is what my memory is telling me, which is normally fairly reliable, not just built like an elephant.

    Anybody else think likewise?

I know a ref, now a lino (did a recent Celtic game) and get most of the inside shit but he’s never said anything about gamboling

Sid, hope you had a nice Christmas.

I’ve not seen Paul67 make a cast iron accusation like this in my time frequenting CQN. I may be wrong, or he may have made some before my time on the blog but I think this is a real but reading the hun site reaction, he has them rattled.

Like others, I await the law suits against P67 pffffffft.

The swallow swallow thread is beyond comedy.
