Benjybhoy, I have not political party allegiances. However Independence would be a financial disaster for Scotland. I just came back from Brussels and on the flight discussed with a business acquantaince. Like him I would exit Scotland as I will not pay more tax to Salmond than I can pay in England ( or indeed in Czech or a Swiss canton or wherever ).
Look at cyprus. No investor is going to put money in a small country again , especially after this tax grap on the depositors. Imagine Cyprus goes the same way as Iceland and they separate the domestic and foreign depositors and dump the foreign investors. Nobody will ever invest in a small country again.
The Cypriots should seriously consider offering the Russians port facilities ( famugusta is in the Turkish Cypriot side ) which they need to invest in. If Syria falls and the Russians lose their med port Cyprus would be a great plan b ; especially if they help out the Russian depositors ( wonder why Ireland didn’t explore the Russian route as a Dublin Port for Russia nuclear subs as that could have been worth a few bob and eu bailout would not have been so punitive )
We are entering a new phase in the world in my humble opinion where America and China are equals with EU possibly there if they sort out the Euro ; Russia has a last chance to play in the big guys playing field. The bigs guys will divide up the banking world and the worlds resources. There is no point in being a small country like Scotland or Cyprus or Ireland or Iceland in this new world. It’s a death wish.
Finally as an aside I would not put Salmond, the wee girl and swinney in charge of a 2,000 people site never mind a country of 6 million ; and behind the gang of three , they are empty; c players in the big bad world.
Independence would be a financial disaster for Scotland ; having a failed junior level banking manager lead it would be like putting Craig Whyte in charge of the worlds most successful club ( now dead ).
