McLeish frank admission, Aberdeen get it right. Will we?

1909

BBC’s series, Scotland’s Game, has become compulsive viewing. Tales of redemption for Celtic, Hearts and others, and tales of woe for some. Last night’s episode had a few remarkably frank admissions.

One which caught the eye was former-Rangers former-manager, Alex McLeish, who admitted his title winning team “would’ve been behind [Celtic]” had they not funded their squad through EBTs. We should all take note for when the Big Tax Case reaches the Supreme Court.

Pleased to see the appropriate amount of damage done to Rangers by majority owner and chairman, David Murray, was correctly attributed, with one or two character defects throw in for good measure by contributing journalist, Tom English.

Aberdeen have nailed their proverbial flag to the mast this week with the word, “No previous meeting found” on their fixture list comment on a forthcoming game against Newco. It’s a simple comment, it’s accurate, has been confirmed in writing by Uefa and will position the club shoulder-to-shoulder with their fans.

Get it right, Celtic.

I have dismissed Irvine as a crank.

    I was speaking about Ferguson.

  2. Naill (sp)Ferguson…..dear god…..he is a historian…..in the loosest sense of the word….his personal world view….is whoever will pay him the most….ffs ;-))

I reckon we all know how hypocritical some MPs can be but is takes the biscuit.

“deeply troubling that a national newspaper should have paid individuals who have acted in this way” is a direct quote from Keith Vaz,referring to The Sunday Mirror paying for information about him.

They paid the same people for information that Vaz had previously paid for sex!

  4. It’s got to be one of these line-ups for Saturday.Which means, with my paucity of prediction success,Brendan will go with something entirely different. But hey ho,here goes:

    De Vries

    Gamboa Toure Sviatchenko Tierney

    Brown Biton

    Roberts Sinclair

    Griffiths Dembele

    OR

    De Vries

    Lustig Toure Sviatchenko

    Gamboa Tierney

    Brown

    Roberts Rogic Sinclair

    Griffiths

Both are capable of winning the game, and comfortably if a top performance manifests.I’d accept a 1-0 but the fact is we possess greater quality and, being at home, should be capable of a more convincing win.

I don’t buy the form-out-the-window-anything-can-happen talk.Anything can happen in any game. This match is as likely to go to form as any other we have played or have yet to play.

Apart from a superior pool of players we also have momentum. There’s an undeniable positivity populating the tim ether, not arrogance or cockiness, that comes directly from the manager.Everybody believes in him.And that’s giving the players and supporters genuine faith in the future.

So,yes, anything can happen but the odds suggest a win for our bhoys.I believe.

    Apart from rhetoric.

His analysis of the cause of the current dramatic difference between the ” lot ” of Latin Americans and that of English speaking North America , I find compelling and utterly credible

AN TEARMANN on 5TH SEPTEMBER 2016 2:33 AM

My uncle and , I think , my father , were present at that game.

Celtic, a living, breathing and continious football club since 1888

I remember singing the John Thompson song in the Greenock Celtic one night long ago.I must have been 19 or 20.Performed it at the request of two elderly gentlemen who were sat near as me and my mates had a wee singsong. One of the old guys looked like a cross between Sean Fallon and Dean Martin, more Sean than Dean if memory serves me.Remember him thanking me and commenting I had a “great wee Irish face.”Loved him for that. ;)

Anywho, always liked the song.Tragic tale but one of a bona-fide Celtic legend.

  14. Evening/morning all. Just nbeen with an auld Tim (94 year aul) We were singing diverende versions of The Parting Glass. Embdy got a c/p that I can play for him. Thanks.

  15. I sang it in St Pats in Strabane. Went down quite well. Then I sang my favourite ever song when I`ve got the John Powers in me. Aiden MacAnespie. The whole place stood up and sang along with me. Near missed the ferry the next day. I love and miss Co Tyrone.

  16. So, will Celtic’s PLC-Hierarchy call out the cheating when they present the home game on Saturday ?

Or, will Celtic’s PLC-Hierarchy kowtow to the big lie ?

    Just remember this….

Fergus McCann brought in the present major shareholder of our club.

The same Fergus McCann who sent you all letters, urging you to back the club.

Then, Fergus came out and claimed that it was the ‘worst’ decision ever to put the huns out of the top league.

Maybe Fergus had a point ?

Maybe he meant that, the huns had to be kept in the same league as Celtic for all the commercial reasons but, also, crucially…..that they be kept in our league with sanctions imposed upon them for all they’re cheating and, that a fixed penalty would be conditional to the huns remaining in the same league as us whilst, paying back every £ that they stole.

For me, I think that Fergus wanted to ‘wipe’ the slate clean and – move on – to retain the old firm.

    It’s definitely a tricky situation.

Ah mean, from a civil unrest p.o.v. can you imagine, for example that the huns were kept in the same league as us for the past 4 years and, were on the receiving end of, 5-0, 6-0, 7-0 drubbings from us and, in the back ground, having they’re stolen trophies stripped ?

For example, what state do you think the ‘Celtic Way’ would be left in when, bus loads of Chelsea supporters would be appearing whenever we were playing away from home or, during the night ?

All will be revealed when, Celtic FC opens it’s doors to the huns on Saturday.

    My prediction…..

Fergus’s-old-firm-orientated-children-on-the- PLC-Hierarchy will, sell you out.

Brendan will toe the PLC-Hierarchy-old-firm-narrative and, sell you out.

The Magnificent Green Brigade will be removed from the stadium on Saturday for, telling the truth.

The huns team on the pitch will be given mibbery-licence to kick Celtic’s cojonesless midfield aff the pitch.

    ….oof-oot-zzzzz…..

    Jobo….

If Engurlund didn’t fluke an injury time winner it could have been even better….

KevJ if you believe (Hearts) John Robertson that the police came into the dressing room and said “no more goals” MI5 will have already warned Celtic about the upcoming “new” fixture….

Calm your jets sometimes you don’t others to tell you what day it is :-)

  18. Great result for Scotland last night. This is going to be a cut-throat group, so happy to get off to a winning start.

Now looking forward to the big game on Saturday. Let the build-up begin.

What tricks will the media have up their sleeve this week? No matter. Oor Brendan is on their casr and is far too smart to be caught out by them.

It’s my 63rd birthday today. My good lady has just told me that she and my 2 sons got together and bought me my 3-game Champoons League package.

I’m now a very happy old bhoy.

Bring on the The Rangers . . .

    . . . then the Barca

  19. Many thanks to the poster who gave the link for oversea members to the latest “Scotlands Game” yesterday.

What stood out for me was the media compliance to all things hun orientated, only Tom English touched a nerve and that looked a bit suspect.

The continual denials were there for all to see …………………………..sadly !!!!

  20. Just heard a little snippet on my Local Radio Station that there will be a Zombies Walk on 17th of September. That info will raise smiles and hackles in equal numbers! Coincidentally, this will be the fifth year of the Charity Event. Is this also the fifth year of the Ibrox Zombies?

    JJ

PS The Walk is to raise money for meningitis research/treatment this year and I honestly don`t think the organisers are aware of any connection with the New Rangers.

I thought Tom English showed that he has what it takes to be a good journalist if only he would have the courage to ditch the Uncle Tim approach.
