It took a late goal from Anthony Stokes to secure Celtic’s win at Tannadice in August. That led to a five match unbeaten run for Dundee United, which ended two weeks ago at Pittodrie before Inverness knocked 10-man United out of the League Cup on Tuesday with a 120th minute goal.
Jackie McNamara has stabilised his team and they are likely to finish in the top three this season, but the defeat on Tuesday, which led to a storm of controversy over the behaviour of Nadir Ciftci, will be a major challenge ahead of United’s trip to Celtic Park. The champions should win comfortably.
There was little glibness evident in The Herald’s sombre interview with Dave King, published this morning. Despite apparently getting along famously with antagonists on either of Rangers International shareholding, he was unable to reach a deal, perhaps because he didn’t speak to the Organ Grinder behind the club playing in Rangers colours.
Indeed, neither King, nor anyone else trying to oust, or do a deal with, the current board, knows the ultimate beneficiary behind Blue Pitch Holdings et al. Is it you? It’s not me, but I suppose that’s what everyone is saying right now.
That question, is the only show in town.
King wrapped up his comments to The Herald by saying “Over the last two years we have all witnessed the destructive value when individuals, who should be putting the club first, advance personal agendas through the media in an attempt to influence the most important stakeholder in Rangers Football Club – the fans”.
Self-awareness is a rare thing.
Mr King is 100% correct on the destructive influence those who have divided his new favourite club have had. Without the modestly self-named Blue Knights causing ultimately unproductive havoc, Charles Green’s consortium would surely not have over-paid and under-charged, leading to the situation King believes could lead to administration. The question now for those on the outside is, do they have the votes, or are they just peeing on the Broxy Bear Burgers?

Hear, hear – to all of that M8.
Well said.
You know what – If the bit you mention where – standing areas are being mooted ala the German League – the ole KevJungle will return and teach some of those young lassies n fellas a thing or 2 about – how the ole ‘Jungle’ used to make the Cellic players feel 10ft tall.
Nah, only kidding about the last bit – The Magnificent Green Brigade are doing a sterling job and, on the odd occasion that I can make it to the ole CP – they could be doing wi extending the numbers and area that the GB are allocated. imo
I’m no want to mention the team or mangement or ‘bored’ – so I’ll depart by saying that ah wish we could get back tae the days were ‘numbers’ were oan the shoarts no the jersey.
But hey – keep it lit Amigo and thanks for that read.
HH – Off oot.
Good morning CQN
Today’s the day the Arabs leave Celtic Park empty handed.
Bed time for me.
G’mornin troops…………..
Pitch black and blustery here in the Rebel County.
Looking forward to the game today………

Good morning CQNers,
A wee song in tribute to those who helped formulate the SFA motion and those that doggedly pursued its inclusion at the Celtic AGM.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uaIpWQX0pg
Top of the morning to you all from a cold, dry, and still-dark Fife.
Weather forecast is for rain moving in about 11am so I am off out walking before it arrives.
Country walking on tracks is a bit messy at this time of year and the boots get heavy when the mud builds up but fortified by the promise of a fried breakfast and then a day on the sofa watching/listening to football awaits.
I sympathise with Jackie Mac with his referee problems and though having not seen the Ciffi incident I suspect that there is still an agenda with referees against, not just us, but others whose face simply doesn’t fit.
Terry Butcher’s face does apparently. I wonder why? Why can he get away with threatening to come down to the SFA disciplinary committee with a wine bottle and smash their heads in?
Can Jackie expect the match officials to say that Ciffi grabbed the linesman’s neck in a friendly fashion, as Callum Murray did in the so called “shame game”?
The shameful things about that were that Neil Lennon was the only man to be punished and it was used as an excuse for the police/politicians to bring in Draconian legislation to even up arrests on either side of the Old Firm as the numbers against the Rangers fans were disproportionately high.
I have seen many Celtic v Rangers games and hope I never see another. Rangers International or whatever this or the next entity is called will inherit the thugs that a long policy of anti-Irish, anti-RC discrimination spawned. Good riddance to them I say and while it is a shame that other stadiums around Scotland will have to put up with them I don’t want to see them at Celtic Park ever again.
Stokes to mark his new contract with a spectacular free-kick goal and big Balde to enhance his reputation as the next scoring sensation.
H.H.
Oh nearly forgot.
Support Canamalar’s AGM resolution and those of the Cetlic Trust!
Big nan
I saw a clip of the ICT debacle on Wednesday night while watching the Hibs game
Ciftci was defo a yellow ….a fairly soft red ….Unless you’re Broonie at Ibrox or similar
The villain of the piece was Butcher …he started the whole thing by hassling Mackay-Steven whom he thought had dived and was play acting for a foul
This caused players to become involved and the whole episode escalated from there
Considering how the SFA have dealt with Lenny for nonsense offences ….Butcher should be banned for months ….disgraceful behaviour and not for the first time
Great day here in perth ozzy land.. First beer ..bbq on ..ballads blasting then off to see Gary og. Been too long
Then straight after him the famous glasgow celtic are on.
God bless the faithful and the celtic

I will be very surprised if anything happens to Butcher. He seems to be able to say whatever he wants regarding other teams and officials with no repercussions.
Paul67 –
How much longer is petec going to be allowed to spout the disgusting comment posted at 01:16?
He has been posting this cruel and heartless comment regularly for weeks now, completely randomly and out of all context. I resent the fact that he uses CQN to air such sickening poison with impunity. This is a Celtic / football blog and while all manner of subjects are covered , this sort of stuff is surely beyond the
pale.
I for one will not let it go unchallenged any longer.
Good Morning Timland.
Looking forward to today’s game,Jackie Mac doing a great job
at DU he has some fine young player’s in his squad…….I really
feel Scottish fitba’s on the way up, the dandy Don’s seem at
last to be getting their act together……..they along with DU
may provide us with a stern challenge domestically in the year’s
ahead…….. if Hibs make the right appointment you can through
them into the mix.
Tom
Opinions …many share his
Should we run passed you what we want to comment
Btw …booked your flights for the next Sevco game. …
Valentines day
Hibs squad is poor ….too many below average players
Fenlon was very honourable in resigning …not sure he was up to the job ….will always wish him well ..good ghuy
….PFayr supports WeeOscar
Yes Butcher gets away with murder for sure.
Hendrix67
His behaviour is shocking
If you haven’t viewed Tuesday nights carry on …do so
He creates the whole issue
Given his position of responsibility he should be carpeted for this
Proudbhoy
Dull , overcast here , daylight struggling to appear
Freezing and pishing rain forecast later
What’s not to like ??:-))
Enjoy yer day …sounds a cracker
Pfayr –
So you believe anyone can post any opinion just because it’s an opinion?
Women have abortions for all sorts of reasons and in different circumstances. Are they all to be called murderers?
Do you really think CQN is the place for such a generalised comment?
Tom
Many eccentric , eclectic and strange comment made on CQN
P67 is very good at monitoring the site
I don’t think he needs any help from you ….
….PFayr supports WeeOscar
You might be right about the Hibs squad,Ijust think
that as a club they have under achieved……agree
with you on PF seems a decent guy, hope he get’s
another chance with a club.
Im loathed to get dragged into an abortion debate but I will say this and say no more on the subject,
there are many reasons why women decide to undergo a termination, including where the medical or clinical risk factors have determined a high likelihood of fatality to the mother and unborn child, or where the pregnancy was as a result of (and im trying to write this as sensitively as possible) an un welcomed or unwanted sexual act, irrespective of your personal or religious beliefs in relation to terminations there is no need, no excuse to label anyone who has taken this decision as a murderer. If anyone feels so strongly about the legalities of it, then there are routes there are Organisations who seek to have the Act repealed, take that route, if its a moral issue then those morals are yours, you will know little if anything of the situations some females find themselves in prior to taking this decision, you will know little if anything of the pain the turmoil and in some cases the horrors they have gone through. By all means stand by your morals, your principles, your religious beliefs but do not dare to incriminate by word association others who may have had to make one of the most difficult decisions in their lifes.
It’s half past seven in the morning.

Perhaps a compromise is in order?
Describe abortion as murder (which is only logical if you believe life begins at conception).
But don’t call anyone involved a murderer.
Pfayr –
That sort of comment is a bit more than eccentric.
Yes, many people do share that opinion but they don’t come on here and stuff it down our throats. There was not even a discussion about abortion, which would have been totally different. He responded to another poster who used the word murder and he used that as his cue.
I do realise petec is one of the untouchables on here but if I am to be classed as the villain for daring to question such an outrageous comment, then I despair. I really do. That’s not the CQN I know.
16 roads – Wee Oscar the Celtic warrior.

‘It’s half past seven in the morning.’
###
It’s really half past eight though, isn’t it?
Or is it half past six? I’m never sure.
Che
Very emotive, as it should be considering the sensitive nature of the subject. But where in your post are the rights of an innocent child considered.
After birth, anyone responsible for ending the life of another human being would be held accountable through the laws of the land.
Only in the womb are your rights to life ignored.
………very windy………..
…composted bark mulch being evenly distributed between here
and Boston.
Headline this morning in the Scotsman made me chuckle:
“Rangers 3-0 Airdrieonians: Daly sets Ibrox alight”
Ernie – Half past seven on the dot when I posted the time there comrade, here in Ireland anyway it is.
Time is shown when comment is posted.
Mornin
Looking fwd to game, should be a good advert for top flight football in Scotland. Always an admirer of J McM, loved it when he went spinning down the right wing.Noticed his lapel badge during the week supporting No Racism in football.
TMcL, have a deeper look at Third Wave Feminism and you might appreciate a wider view of the Petec comment.
Has Jabba retired with dignity ! He no doubt will get a job now with his real love Airdrie !!!
Enjoy the game.
HH
Let me repeat.
If there had been an on-going discussion on abortion, petec’s comment would have been in context. I would disagree with it but it would have been in context as part of a discussion.
There was no such discussion. It was a throwaway comment. He was trolling.
……..manure………
……may have to be added
to the mulch……
to add weight, obviously.
So if he was fishing why raise the fairly strong challenge.
How long before a championship side take Daly away from Sevco? Who else needs a goalscorer . . .
Tom
calm down calm down , it’s not good for you. If it was petecs view then he owns it. If it was throw away so what. You llokin for someone to argue with . I am sure there will be amny takers. maybe not Petec. Not like him you or me will change much about nothing. Have a great evening. c,mon the hoops.
