Missing Organ Grinder

1063

It took a late goal from Anthony Stokes to secure Celtic’s win at Tannadice in August.  That led to a five match unbeaten run for Dundee United, which ended two weeks ago at Pittodrie before Inverness knocked 10-man United out of the League Cup on Tuesday with a 120th minute goal.

Jackie McNamara has stabilised his team and they are likely to finish in the top three this season, but the defeat on Tuesday, which led to a storm of controversy over the behaviour of Nadir Ciftci, will be a major challenge ahead of United’s trip to Celtic Park.  The champions should win comfortably.

There was little glibness evident in The Herald’s sombre interview with Dave King, published this morning.  Despite apparently getting along famously with antagonists on either of Rangers International shareholding, he was unable to reach a deal, perhaps because he didn’t speak to the Organ Grinder behind the club playing in Rangers colours.

Indeed, neither King, nor anyone else trying to oust, or do a deal with, the current board, knows the ultimate beneficiary behind Blue Pitch Holdings et al.  Is it you?  It’s not me, but I suppose that’s what everyone is saying right now.

That question, is the only show in town.

King wrapped up his comments to The Herald by saying “Over the last two years we have all witnessed the destructive value when individuals, who should be putting the club first, advance personal agendas through the media in an attempt to influence the most important stakeholder in Rangers Football Club – the fans”.

Self-awareness is a rare thing.

Mr King is 100% correct on the destructive influence those who have divided his new favourite club have had.  Without the modestly self-named Blue Knights causing ultimately unproductive havoc, Charles Green’s consortium would surely not have over-paid and under-charged, leading to the situation King believes could lead to administration.  The question now for those on the outside is, do they have the votes, or are they just peeing on the Broxy Bear Burgers?

Happy a lovely day with your Dad and family. You bring back some smashing memories for me. My Mum was brought up in Clydebank and she was there during the blitz. I remember as a very young boy getting the Dalmiur West tram from Bridgeton to North Elgin street to visit my Auntie May or along the Pen to see my Uncle John. My Da reminisced many times about Celtic’s glorious history, particulary the Coronation Cup. He hated the Kelly’s and was forever screaming during games for them to be sacked. He has passed away now and the last game we went to together was a beautiful memory: Celtic 2 – Real Madrid 0…Unfortunately we were put out but that was a truly fantastic night. So listen to the stories and many happy returns to your Dad

I don’t think enough was done to keep the school as a viable building.

It would have been ideal,as a building from our glorious past,to house a permanent museum to those glories.

I think Glasgow should be ashamed that another part of its history has been allowed to decay beyond use.

Will there be a crush on the podium as the wifi at CP gets more hits than the Obamacare website on day 1?

  7. All the reminiscing about dads or uncles or whoever are responsible for us becoming Celtic supporters reminds me that I pitched the idea of including a Rememberance/Oratory type room in the plans for developing the museum.

I think it fair to say the siggestion did not fall on sterile ground but it is an idea that could grow into something quite real, tangible and dare I say – memorable if others take the opportunity to water the notion as the occasion arises…..

  8. Celtic team:

Forster; Fisher, Ambrose, Van Dijk, Izaguirre; Forrest, Brown, Ledley, Mulgrew; Stokes, Balde

Glad to see Fisher getting another start – he played very well v Hibs, allowing Forrest to maraud forward. Hope to see that again today.

Balde gets second competitive start since Inverness 2-2 game.

Just catching up as I have been out for dinner.

No way was I asking anyone to change their point of view for me.

I was questioning why such a comment was posted, and not for the first time, in isolation and out of context, like a political statement.

Again, there was no on-going discussion on the subject matter. If there were, I would have had no problem with the comment apart from maybe disagreeing with it.

Thanks for your thoughts on this.

    Hail Hail.

    5-1 Celtic today.

  13. Interesting line up.

Pleased to see two youngsters get a start and I hope JL and CM get a good 60 minutes and are substituted ahead of Wednesday.

With us having the game tied up by then of course.

Efe and VVD becoming a permanent fixture at CB.

seems there are a few members of the grey brigade nowadays

its not only older family members that I think of, in times of high celtic emotion, but also a few pals who grew up with me and are no longer around to see the highs

many of them saw their fair share of the celtic lows too

I had a wee moment when we beat the huns 3-0 in the last ever game against the huns and thought about friends who had stood amongst us when the going was often not so good

How these people survived the 90’s I’ll never know.

To those defending our resident attention seeker you have clearly not seen some of KevJ’s posts about our manager. They would not have looked out of place on FF.

Everyone is entitled to opinions about Lennys managerial abilities, tactics, team selection etc but to verbally abuse him and call him a liar like Kev has in the past is a complete & utter disgrace.

I was on last night and saw Petec’s posting.

I am against abortion and I wrestle with the extenuating circumstances exceptions.

However, I saw no reason at the time to express my personal opinions or undertake a discussion on the subject.

No need to get caught up on yet another circular debate especially while continuing the Pablo tradition of the Friday night is music night.

    Enjoy the game today.

its sometimes weird when we say that at celtic we are all inclusive then want folk banned for having a different opinion

on my old celtic bus, there were 52 different opinions after every game

we still all wanted the very best for celtic though!

If your comment is not aimed at me, I apologise.

  22. suttons volley on

I had said KevJ should be banned for his disgusting personal attacks on our manager not for his opinions on how the club is run or the team is picked.

Mr Lennon has sacrificed & tolerated an awful amount for Celtic and should be treated with more respect.

If you don’t rate him as a manager thats fine but no need for some of the comments made by Kev in the past.

  23. afternoon CQN

im hoping somebody may be able to jog my memory a bit regarding one of my favourite celtic games way back in ’86.

i was visiting an auntie down in london and she was taking me sightseeing ( i was almost 16 at the time and it was my first time down in the big smoke)………..anyways, we headed to trafalgar square this lovely summers day and as we got towards marble arch i could hear what i thought was Celtic songs………as trafalgar square came into view i couldn’y believe my eyes, 1000’s of fellow tims dancing and singing around (and some actually in) the fountains. I asked the nearest bhoy who told me its david o’ learys testimonial, we’re gonna hump the arsenal tonight..!!

I quickly said my goodbyes to my auntie and bought myself a tricolor as i wasn’t wearing any colours, persuaded a fellow tim to sell me a six pack of red stripe lagers (remember them.?) and i joined in the songs and dancing…….after a few hrs the march up to highbury began, much of it a blur by this time as being a 15yr old the red stripes had me pretty well intoxicated. Queing outside the turnstiles to get in, the steady procession of assorted bottles were passed back down the line and i dutifully took a swig from each as i passed it back to the bhoy behind me….

most of the game i can’t remember apart from the 2-0 score……………..my question is who were the scorers and did charlie nic play a half for each team

    greatmemoriesCSC
