LISBON LION Jim Craig is the very special guest on the new CQN Podcast – out now!

Jim releases his new book, Right Back to 67, The Lisbon Lion Diary next week and we are pretty confident that this will be regarded as one of the classic Celtic books of all time.

There has been so much written about 1967 in some very fine books to-date but nothing like this. Jim kept a diary of his time at Celtic and in Right Back to 67 he is able to provide the authentic, inside story. It really is too good to miss.

You can order the book now from CQNBookstore.com and you will receive a signed copy. You can also add a personal dedication which is ideal for a Christmas gift. Simply email david@cqnpublishing.co.uk with your dedication after you have ordered and Jim will sort this for you next week.

Jim Craig joined Paul John Dykes and Kevin Graham to discuss the Lisbon Lions’ 50th anniversary celebrations in a year which also saw Celtic winning an invincible treble, a prestigious award from FIFA naming their fans as the best in the world, and even a BAFTA!

In this emotional interview, Jim reminisces about Jock Stein, Billy McNeill, Neilly Mochan, Bertie Auld, Tommy Gemmell, Joe McBride and George Connelly.

He also discusses his latest book, his magnificent Lisbon Lion Diary: Right Back to ’67. This memoir is a real fly-on-the-wall recollection of events from 50 years ago, brought to life by Jim Craig’s intelligent and humorous brand of storytelling. Order HERE.

Hello this is WEE BGFC. OH YESH!!! BRILLIANT!!!!! ONE DOWN 2 TO GO!!!!!! (In both domestic cups and consecutive games against murderwell – 3 trophies to go if you count Europe) Shertainly another marvelloush day to shupport Sheltic!!! I’ve had a shtupendush birthday weekend!! At the time thought it was a penalty but a wee bit soft – even if it wasn’t we deserve a bit of luck. C’MON THE HOOPS!

  2. We didn’t play well in the first half but we were still too good for Motherwell.

2nd half we were hungrier & we deserved our goal.

Despite James Forrest scoring a fine goal, Patrick Roberts was a real threat when he came on.

Scott Sinclair was pretty anonymous until that incident.

He was shoulder tugged but Cipre had lost his grip before Scott reacted.

His delayed reaction defied one of the laws of physics in that the shoulder tug led to his legs going backwards & out from under him. Meanwhile his shoulder kept going forward.

The tug deserved to be penalized, but when the fouled player decides he’s going to exaggerate the effect of it – for whatever reason – then he roles the dice on getting a yellow for simulation.

Shouldn’t have been a red card, but that decision was in keeping with the awful standard Thomson set from the kickoff.

Still. it gave the panels something/anything to discuss afterwards.

It was a poor game in an awful arena.

Win the next 2 games Celtic & put the pressure back on those trailing behind you.

Ref’s problems begin with his belief that it is his job to manage a game.

He starts off thinking he has a duty to make the game as interesting as possible for the spectator/viewer.

To do this, he ignores the basic rules of the game, which is at the root of his incompetence.

By applying the laws according to arbitrarily, he introduces his well known inconsistency to his performance.

A product of the Dallas School of Chicanery.

    PS.

    Chris and Henrik were brilliant.

There was contact. But Sinclair takes a step then drops quite unnaturally. Sort hate of mine but he’s maybe just a bit cuter than your average SPFHELL player..

I think he needs rested. Get paddy in to get fans off their seats.

  7. Really anxious about going to ‘firparc des Princes’ midweek..

    They’re gonna be beeling!?

    About a perfectly legitimate penalty!!!

Lovely! Just in from watching the final with the fellow bhoys and ghirls of the Norway CSC.

James Forrest scared the life out of them every time he got the ball. Boyata – great game. Paddy when he came on was bloody scintillating. Craig Gordon – shotstopper extraordinaire. Lustig showed what we missed when he went off injured in Paris – solidity, leadership, attacking threat.

In the bar in Oslo there was the usual eclectic mix of nationalities. Most of them threw their hands in front of their faces at Kipre’s studs-up legbreaker on Moussa. Really, only in Scotland can an assault like that go unpunished.

Motherwell’s persistent un-punished fouling prompted a guy from Italy to say: “Have the other teams in Scotland ever tried playing football?”

Justice done. I thought the SS penalty was dodgy till I saw it a few times from different angles.

A definite penalty, the red card was harsh, but since Kipre should have been straight off for trying to break Moussa’s leg after 10 minutes, feck him.

Delighted! Well done the Bhoys! Happy Happy Joy Joy!

  19. I’m a huge fan of Scott Sinclair, huge. The guy is so obviously keen to impress us all , and being a confidence player, is trying a bit too hard.Thats all, and what’s wrong with trying too hard,eh?

I also think Stuart Armstrong should be rested for a game or two as I feel he is in the comfort zone and doesn’t keep his game on brain working hard enough.

    Only my opinion though

  25. A deserved and comfortable win in the end. I thought we were very sloppy in the first half, there is a slackness in our play which has been evident, not just today. Poor passing and a lack of quality on the ball were the main concerns. The tackle on Moussa first half was a nailed on red. Re the pen and subsequent red, It is a penalty in any language, the Compliance officer should not even attempt to issue a ban, as the lad pulled SS. Yes it was soft but it was a pen. Another wee gripe, the finishing is poor and perhaps a lack of desire to really put teams to the sword. We should be dishing out more hidings.

As for this upcoming Wednesday night, we did a good job of tiring them out and today was a big blow for them. However it is a dangerous game which I’m sure Brendan will make the players aware. Come game time they will be gunning for us. I cannot see however how they can last the 90 minutes at full pelt after today so keep the head and we should be able to pick them off.

  26. CultsBhoy- Last of the famous international PlayBhoys on

Today confirmed we need another league. We are not strong enough for CL..too strong for SPFL…Europa League could be the level we are looking for..
