LISBON LION Jim Craig is the very special guest on the new CQN Podcast – out now!

Jim releases his new book, Right Back to 67, The Lisbon Lion Diary next week and we are pretty confident that this will be regarded as one of the classic Celtic books of all time.

There has been so much written about 1967 in some very fine books to-date but nothing like this. Jim kept a diary of his time at Celtic and in Right Back to 67 he is able to provide the authentic, inside story. It really is too good to miss.

You can order the book now from CQNBookstore.com and you will receive a signed copy. You can also add a personal dedication which is ideal for a Christmas gift. Simply email david@cqnpublishing.co.uk with your dedication after you have ordered and Jim will sort this for you next week.

Jim Craig joined Paul John Dykes and Kevin Graham to discuss the Lisbon Lions’ 50th anniversary celebrations in a year which also saw Celtic winning an invincible treble, a prestigious award from FIFA naming their fans as the best in the world, and even a BAFTA!

In this emotional interview, Jim reminisces about Jock Stein, Billy McNeill, Neilly Mochan, Bertie Auld, Tommy Gemmell, Joe McBride and George Connelly.

He also discusses his latest book, his magnificent Lisbon Lion Diary: Right Back to ’67. This memoir is a real fly-on-the-wall recollection of events from 50 years ago, brought to life by Jim Craig’s intelligent and humorous brand of storytelling. Order HERE.

TOP OF TABLE La Liga clash of unbeaten teams.

Valencia keeper fumbles a Messi shot and it spins over the line . Asst not up with play as keeper scoops ball back into play so goal not given.

  2. Hello again all you young rebels.

Another trophy in the bag and counting, not seen the game yet,

waiting patiently for it to be shown again on CTV.

i’d intended staying up to watch but after a tiring weekend with

our young bhoys club player trials and a few wee haufs after,

    exhaustion took over.

The MSM will be hurting you can be sure of that but any controversy

over penalties will be milked for all it’s worth but as someone has

already stated quite brilliantly ” it’s only noise ” to appease the bigots.

Off to watch it all unfold now and kid on i don’t know the score :-))

    H.H Mick

P.S should i have another wee hauf?

  3. Robinson said, he watched it back and the player didn’t touch him, he is completely wrong on that, completely wrong, I wonder what his response to seeing the same player Kipre tackle Moussa in the first half after 10minutes, bend Moussa’s shin to the left and not even concede a foul, no foul was given for that a tackle that should be a minimum 3 game ban. He can fire his players up all he wants on Wednesday they lost a cup final so tough get on with it.

Watched the game in the Aragon today on Byres Road. My mate and I were sat beside two guys who never opened their mouths until the penalty was given.”Fecking diving bassa” was straight out of one their mouths.

Their pain was a joy. When we were leaving we wished them a good evening and hoped they had a peaceful night. #wholettheverminin

  5. Evening all

Home from game. Delighted we won and our best player in a flat first half got the goal. Thomson got little if anything significant right. Never a penalty for us – assumed a yellow for diving. Poor and unpunished challenge by same player on Moussa so justice of sorts but a ref getting big calls right would be better.

Cup looked nice and shiny after a lowish key affair we were by miles the better team

  6. Well Done the most excellent Invincibles. Magical day.

I was worried we would lose today. I needn’t have been.

A double Treble is on the cards now, a double Invincible? WOW that really would be something else.

What a save by Craig Gordon. That was just awesome – Super Awesome.

  7. Enjoyed the game today. Not a classic. Although Motherwell worked hard and were disciplined there was only one team trying to win the game.

Listen to Clyde on the drive home from Hampden. All they focused on was the penalty. Gimme peace. Thompson was his usual anti-Celtic self throughout the game. Moussa was constantly getting pushed in the back at any high ball. Petty fouls by Well unpunished whereas the slightest touch from the Hoops was a foul.

Some save by Gordon. Simply stunning!

  8. Well done the Celtic today. 4 titles in a row and the chance of 6 in a row and double treble, gives us loads to play for domestically.

Europa after ne’erday would also be good.

Great days to be a supporter of Celtic.

    HH

  9. Glad the oft times escapegoat James Forrest scored another crackin’ goal in a big match. MOTM for me.

  10. 4 trophies in a row, a 5th to come when/if we win the league, then the possibility of another Scottish Cup Final. A double treble is still a helluva challenge!

Has any manager ever won the first 6 domestic trophies they have entered?

Then we can look for the 10.

  11. I need to state….

Think of any Celtic player you have seen who epitomised the esprit de corps and the enthusiasm needed to play for Celtic….any Celtic player, any time…

Step forward….Mikael Listing….a real Celtic player.

  12. DD,

The view @ Hampdump is brutal, most positions. James had another Great game, he is keeping Paddy out the team FFS. Paddy was fantastic when he came on too. I said to Aidy, get the ba’ to Paddy.

  13. Late in the game against Hibs at CP, SS was fouled by Efe and stayed on his feet, it cost us two points. Today he went to ground after he was impeded. He didn’t make the same mistake twice.

  14. After the final whistle the on pitch interviewer asked SS

    “How much contact was there?

    His answer was ….

“I felt a little bit of contact, it doesn’t matter how much contact there is. He got a little tug on my arm and I went down.”

    Hardly a robust defence Scott…

I would rather he had said

“I was tugged , it caused me to lose my balance and caused me to fall”

    Or

“He fouled me to hinder my attempt on goal.

He was cheating and I had to draw the referees attention to the foul otherwise the ref would have taken the easy decision to ignore the foul and not give the penalty”

A bit of media training required.

For me it was a penalty and yellow card would have been the correct outcome.

The panel were a disgrace, spouting the same illogical rubbish ignoring the most salient point.

Q: Why did the Motherwell defender tug Sinclair’s arm?

The answer of course was to prevent him executing his shot cleanly, he tried to be cute by fouling subtlety hoping the ref would not see or would not penalise.

He did see and he did penalise.

The ref should be commended at least for getting that part right

    Other rubbish unchallenged

” football is a contact sport” T Butcher

    No it isn’t Terry

Rugby is a contact sport, American football is a contact sport.

    Association Football is not.

Incidental contact is tolerated in some instances by the referees and is punished where appropriate.

Today the contact was deemed a foul….

Penalty was correct red card a bit harsh…but that’s the risk you take.

  15. Far from a classic today but we’ll take it. First half was poor. Jamsies goal wins the game for me , however it was never a pen or a sending off. We have been on the end of too many of these shocking decisions so we know what it feels like. Thomson is an utterly incompetent referee. Hh

I’m shocked at the amount of Sevco fans on social media going on about the penalty. They tuned in hoping we would fail and shock horror we didnt. They now need an outlet for their grief and the penalty decision is such.

  18. The first half was poor stuff to watch. We came out the traps in the second half and quickly killed the game however the most enjoyable part of the game was when Paddy Roberts came on. The boy is an absolute joy to watch. Hh

  19. Good solid win against a well organised but limited opponent. Murderwell should have been down to 10 men a lot sooner and we would have won with even more ease.

A soft penalty but still a penalty. Murderwell should have been down to at least 9 not long after when one of their number, already on a yellow card committed a clear bookable offence.

The support needs to appreciate James Forrest a lot more IMHO.

If we stand up to their “robust” play then we will win the next two games against them as well.

I might disagree with Brendan on the European front but by God has he Scotland well and truly sussed!

Thanks Brendan and the team for making this such a great time to be a Tim!

  20. Tough watch first half but only one winner whatever.

    A solid response to PSG

  21. Delaneys Dunky,

After Today, the Biggest danger to a double Treble (invincible) is Celtic going to Paris again.

    CELTIC

  22. For all those having angst about the penalty, and that includes you sevco fans, cast your mind back to Celtic Park last season when Madhun didn’t give the stonewaller against sevco and caused us 2 points and a clean sweep.

Sinky was pulled back whilst motoring, the faster an object is travelling the less amount of force is required to change the direction it is travelling in, it’s not rucola science. You also don’t have to be travelling towards goal to actually score a goal believe it or not.

  23. Gordon64 on 26th November 2017 9:33 pm

For the avoidance of any doubt can we agree it was not a penalty. Hh

    ……………………………

I’d need to see it again. :))
