Need to see Johnston or Elyounoussi start tomorrow

Aberdeen had a slow start to the season but soon kicked on.  Their eye-catching loss to Jack Ross’ Hibs this month and Celtic’s win at Pittodrie are their only defeats in all competitions since September, a run of 11 games.

On Wednesday, we discussed how Hearts were able to up their dreadful form to come from a goal down to take a point off Newco – sufficient, at the time, to pull Celtic level on points at the top of the table.  Aberdeen went one better two weeks ago by earning a point from being two down to Newco.  Like Hearts they can raise their game, unlike Hearts, their game starts at a competent level.

When Celtic agreed to Wednesday’s re-arranged fixture, they knew they were handing a benefit to Aberdeen, who have rested up for a week.  It was a gamble to take pressure off the second part of the season.

Neil Lennon has difficult decisions to make regarding team selection.  He will have an eye on who he wants to start against Newco on the 29th, and will want to get those players as fit as possible.  I would like to see Ryan Christie back in the No. 10 role, which would also mean James Forrest returning to the right.  For this to be possible, we will need to see Mikey Johnston or Mohamed Elyounoussi start tomorrow.

Hibs giving Sevco their Christmas present…..3 points and a big boost to their goal difference .

This is NOT the Hibs we played the other week.

Fat Sally talking some right shite on BT, moreorless gesture must be new rule for a yellow, no different from Broony last year at CP. Unchallenged by commenter of course

Talking to one of the refereeing fraternity through the week……he says straight red for gesture.

  7. We are deluding ourselves if we think every team the Huns play are crap.

It pains me to say it however, They ( The huns ) are playing quite well.

It looks like we will have to put them back in the box on the 29th.

Anyway, here’s hoping, cumon the hibbies.

    HH.

PS : Where is DD and the Dalmuir foxes , is he posting on SC ?

  8. Couple of things about the Easter Road game. The Ibrox side are so switched on to frantic pressing right from the whistle ‘ first goal comes from it. It is how they beat us twice last season and bossed the League Cup Final. I have never seen the press applied so intensely in Scottish football. Although we won the final, we have been outplayed 3 from 5 against Gerrard. This is why the title is wide open.

If I was Jack Ross, I would have substituted the keeper straight away.

Nobody other than us is going to take many points off the huns . Jack Ross must be wondering what he let himself in for.

Who gives a flying how they’re playing.

Are Celtic better? Yes, in my opinion.

    The hope will kill them(again).

  11. Sevco are slightly better than last year, other teams are worse apart from us.

But other teams stand off Sevco in a way they do not do it with us, don’t know if managers are listening to the smsm hype of Steven Gerard’s Rangers. But at least get close and compete ffs

Get close and give them nothing Hibs are all over the place marking no one

    D. :)

  12. The Huns are a confidence team, if they get their tails up they can knock it about, Its the mental game they struggle with. Aberdeen a classic example .

You need to knock their confidence then you see what they are made of.

Hibs at the moment standing back and admiring, hopeless

An astute observation indeed. Hearts tried the same tactic on Wednesday.

Teams will eventually adapt and find a way to nullify.

Having said that, Celtic need to take leaf from their book and start a bit sharper.

    Exactly!

If teams stopped believing the hyper they’d do a lot better.

AS Ive said before, McInnes there in the towel before a ball was kicked. Thankfully his team had some balls about them in the second half.

I listed to the Motherwell manger pre-game last Sunday:

BBC interviewer: ‘what do you make of the job Steven Gerrard has done this season?’.

Motherwell manager: blows smoke up Gerrard’s rear end.

These teams are losers before a ball is kicked

Couldn’t resist, nothing personal , just got it drummed into me for Higher English (a long time ago)👍👍

  16. ”We have been outplayed 3 from 5 against Gerrard. This is why the title is wide open.”

We’ve played them 6 times and won 4.

Welcome to the blog, spellchecker changes your moniker to McBurnie :-)

“Although we won the final, we have been outplayed 3 from 5 against Gerrard”

Pretty sure Tommy Burns had a better record for that than Stevie Gee in this type of fixture ….. Celtic meanwhile have collected EVERY trophy since Steven Gerrard has picked a Sevco starting 11

I said Sevco had improved big time in September, went down like a lead balloon in here, some people can’t take the emotion out of their thoughts and judge from what their seeing. I also took stats into my judgment.

To the posters saying but Hibs are not getting close to them, you mean like Celtic on the 8th December? Other SPFL teams don’t have Fraser Forster in goal.

Sevco have 10 points more than last season, similar to our points improvement, all the evidence is there if you take the blinkers off.

This is a Sevco that won’t collapse and will run us close, unless we invest some of our piling fortunes gaining minimal interest wisely.

So it’s over to the Celtic board again and that’s what scares me more than an improving Sevco.

    These hundits are something else.

Celtic 2-0 up at HT against X, Y or Z

‘What do X , Y or Z have to do to get back in this game?’

    Sevco 2-0 up at HT against X , Y or Z

‘What do Rangers* have to do to close out this game ?’

  21. GREENPINATA-DD posts on SC as well as here😉

Haven’t seen him on either for a while now 🍀

    Hopefully everything good 💚

  22. The Huns will be happy to be two points behind us going into January

They have an easier run of games after the break
