Your grandad will tell you Jock Stein was master of the news the week before a big derby game. He would seed positive news stories about players or the club to make sure everyone had a spring in their step and to put pressure on opponents.
Graeme Murty is not the master of his own domain, so has few levers to pull in this respect, but he must have despaired when news broke that Newco were unable to retain a 21-year-old central defender they bought from Raith Rovers in January 2017.
Newco are dead in the water if they cannot retain recruits from Raith Rovers who have played a dozen league games for them this season. Dead. In. The. Water. They cannot buy the finished product, they cannot even compete for the French youth international talent Celtic seem partial to.
The only team development strategy available to them is to develop, retain and benefit from young domestic talent. And according to Murty, they cannot afford to offer competitive wages for David Bates.
They couldn’t even convince him to keep his contract business to himself for a few days until after his team face Celtic tomorrow. What a hopeless shower.

Game is on Sky Sports Football only. Sky Main Event is Newcastle v Arsenal. BBC Scotland is highlights only at 10.30pm tonight.
scoddland laps up a divided Timdom……………..imo.
But they are scared of a strong alliance of positive, knowledgeable Tims who continue to drive the bus forward.
Celtic Park is a big place with various views and vantage points, but when full of genuine Tims roaring their support, there’s no place in the world like it.
HH.
Thanks for the replies folks.
BANKIEBHOY
Aye. Put ten Tims in a pub and you’ll get a dozen different opinions, and some heated discussions.
Put the Celtic game on,and there will be only one!
BMCUW
His daughter and grandchildren are Celtic supporters, because of Celtic v Liverpool. Wonderful

Yep. When it’s authentic and from head or heart – it’s the love of Celtic that remains.
Tims are a good judge of character.
if and it’s a big IF we get beaten today then the North Stand at Celtic Park should be raised to the ground (stupid phrase that) and the Jungle rebuilt were the Pollok Bhoys can recongrigate around number 7.
That’ll fiX every woe.

Well bhoys pub time for me.

Yes we have deep divisions, but there is common ground for compassion and decency.
An abundance of balloons from both ends will emphasise this.

Hail Hail???
Brendan to replace Conte and Keiran to Man U……is there a big game on today?
Give them no hope.
Give them big sticks.
Send them humping back to their ludges so fast they get friction burns on their knuckles.
Just do them, Celtic.
Broonie needs to play smart, Madhun will book him first chance he gets
Just back from some spiritual refreshment: final hymn “Thine be the glory…..endless is the vict’ry”. Hope it’s a good omen. Let’s do it Celtic! HH
I’m sure Scott Brown knows what to expect today. Matured a lot on the pitch over the last few seasons and became a very streetwise performer in pressurised games for us.
Not worried if they ( ref or the sevco players ) target him he’s so experienced in these games , thrives on the attention if anything imo
The harder they come the harder they fall…

To all attendees today enjoy and stay safe bhoys and ghirls….
Let’s hope we get the result we want ,up the hoops

Anybody know a bar in Catania, Sicily to watch the game TaH H Hebcelt
Hello again all you young rebels.
First game today of the new season for our Oz Bhoys 5-5 i suppose you
could say it was a good open game but defensively a nightmare for us.
We’ve lost four very good players to more senior teams and three injuries
didn’t help but on the positive side the wee mhan scored two screamers
and of course the top came off and the hoops were on show, surprisingly
he wasn’t booked but he missed a sitter at the end to give us the win, now
his face is tripping him.
Hope the Celtic can cheer him up 8-))
We were playing a team called Skye today, blue and white strip and the
weather was pashing down, very not like Oz but we were loving it, i could
almost imagine i was back in Scotia except the park was like a bowling
green and the opposing team and support were very civilised, so not like
Scotia.
Coming near game time now so time to ring the wee mhan and see if he’s
out of his mood and ready to shout on the mighty hoops and of course
pour myself a wee hauf.
COYBIG.
H.H Mick
Let’s make history Bhoys stay disciplined don’t give them time or space play a controlled high pressing good tempo game like we know you can and we wil win.
HH ?
Sipsini, enjoy the game and hope your health keeps good H H

Don’t be fooled into thinking they can’t play quick fast flowing football on the deck , they are better than most on here give them credit for , kieran will have his hands contains Candeas and Tavernier .
Their left side will cause us problems with their pace and movement , Morelas and windass will create problems too , make no mistake this will be a tough game for us .
We need to be at it from the off till the final whistle
I’m hoping we win as we’re not as good as most are making out .
Stay safe

Enjoy the game and your wee hauf , wish i was still in Melbourne but then maybe not if it’s raining !! HH !!
No Roberts and Sinclair – dearie me!
BMCUW
Couldn’t even bluff him with that, the keeper tried to throw the ball it slipped out his
hand and landed at the wee mhans feet and he fluffed it, now he’s like a demon but
the Celtic should cure that 8-))
H.H Mick
Anyone hazard a guess at the cost or value of our 6 outfield players on the bench!
Thought Sinclair would start but Brendan always has a plan that involves 14 players. Often, it is the finishing 11 that’s important.
Neustadt Braw thanks for that have passed it on to my mhate out there, he just arrived yesterday so has’nt got his bearings yet. H H Hebcelt

Not sure if I’m totally happy with that starting 11 tbh…
Hope Moussa gets some decent service and isn’t left isolated up front.
Very strong bench however.
