No to Newco Day

342

Despite of the most intense lobbying and doomsday predicting from chief executive, Neil Doncaster, SPL clubs have “overwhelmingly” voted ‘No to Newco’, finally rejecting the bid by one of Charles Green’s Sevco companies to form a team and gain access to the SPL.

This is the conclusion of what only last month looked like an unlikely grass-roots campaign which left several reluctant clubs with little choice but to accept the wishes of their supporters.

Neil Doncaster’s position is compromised after his ‘there is little difference between a CVA and liquidation’ campaign, as he contorted to win support for new rules which would make it easier for him to meet revenue targets.

The right conclusion has been reached.  Well done to all.

    Guys

That was merely a wee skirmish today. The outcome was already known. The fact that Dykeman Dungcaster wanted a different outcome is a bit of a side show.

I’m sure we all feel some level of relief that it hasn’t all fallen apart at this point.

The real action has moved over to sevco’s position in Scottish football overall. We have seen the intention and now (thanks to Clyde FC) we have seen the tactics and detail.

Unfortunately we have no direct locus in this arena. However, all those in the SPL who genuinely want sevco out will need to bolster the SFL clubs informally to ensure they know they have support.

Of course the SFL clubs could be taken out of this invidious position if Tweeter Raybans and the SFA applied the rules properly.

There should be no advantage to sevco going to Div 1. Why?

Because under SFA rules and SPL rules they are not eligible for a UEFA licence for 3 years (4 seasons) so even if they won Div 1 at the first attempt they could not be accepted under promotion. Remember when certain clubs were not accepted under stadia criteria? This seems slightly more serious!

If the SFA came out properly and indicated that this is the case then the SFL could relax.

The financial baw is bust anyway for 4 years so why not back integrity and await a SFL application to be entered at Div 3 if approved?

Nigh is darkest just before the dawn…..

If and when the CFC Board enter the field proper (and they may well have to at some point) they will absolutely draw all the fire from all of the sources – sevco, ex huns, msm, at al. This is why schtum is right for as long as possible and is right whilst results are being achieved without commenting.

But………… at the crunch, the Board will need to be prepapred to go in and go in hard.

No to Div 1. No bending the rules. No accomodating cheats.

I trust Peter has the ‘alternative plan’ on file with alternative financing that can counter the Dungcaster diatribe.

    Patience. Hold. For now.

    HH

Anyone know when Dungcaster is giving an answer on the investigation into thems who “have a case to answer”, for playing players with 2 contracts? Would love to text my son & tell him we did win they leagues we lost and hopefully erase the hurt we felt.

I know this won’t be popular but its mixed emotions for me today, all very positive emotions I may add but I feel the battle has been won,let me explain. I of course would love to see them die completely or at least play in SFL3 however I never actually believed that the SPL teams would vote them out so I’m very happy and extremely surprised by that.I thought our only chance would be for them to disappear in the financial sense due to lack of funding rather than a sporting decision so I’m very very happy with todays outcome. To be honest it was such an outside bet from my perspective that for me this is the victory I’ve been waiting on for a long long time, and here is the part that will not be popular, this is enough for me now I’d like to see more pain for the newco but I don’t need or demand it,I want to get back to the footy on the pitch…………………..running for cover.

Today is a great day to be a Celtic supporter who ever thought the day would come when we would see no Rangers in the top league in Scotland. However, its only te first step the Scottish football authorities should keep there own rules and let clubs who have been members for at least 3 seasons apply for the vacant position in Division3 and that means newco cannot apply as they dont meet the 3 year rule.H.H.

    Good man Gordy,

All good at my end, the young fella is in Costa Rica for a month on a school trip:) swelteringly hot here, plus 40 with the humidex so staying indoors in the air conned office; much more comfortable for laughing at sevco:)

  9. Sorry for the language, still the question has to be raised, why we have to read articles about an non existant and non spl team on the bbc spl site?

BTW I´m getting mildly excited about the celebrations on the 12th when the billys enter Division 3, Jelly & Icecream, the huns are dead!

  10. Any further comments from the educationally challenged individual know as “Nutty as a fruit cake Brown” today? Is it PL’s fault that the overwhelming majority of SPL clubs voted for sporting integrity and moral justice. Perhaps he has eveidence to prove PL had undertaken a black op’s coup and infiltrated each and every SPL teams supporters clubs and used dastardly ‘fenian’ tactics to convince football supporters to pressure their respective boards that a Newco was a bad idea?

Oi Nutter – keep taking the pills ya bampot.

  11. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

Well done Paul 67. Without the highly skilled shaping of the agenda by you and a few key others Newco would’ve had a shoo-in today. Brilliant work. A very proud day for those concerned.

As for those you’ve outmanoeuvred… it’s time for Doncaster to get papped. Seems like he was speaking without a mandate from his member clubs this morning. Arrogance coupled with impotence ain’t good qualities in a CEO.

Surely the SFL can’t admit another member til there’s a space. When will the process of deciding to invite an SFL club into the SPL be complete (presuming that that will happen)

Not in our parallel Universe quantum scenario it doesn’t – you can squeeze another team in, and as long as you don’t look at it, its not there. But as soon as you look at it, its gone; into the SPL ! This is the DoomCast plan, and he hopes no-one will notice,,,, until its too late….. “Mwhaaaa, haaa, haaaa,” he’ll be heard to say – his master plan will be complete, and we will look on it with a sense of Awe – as in “Awe, gonnae no dae that ya bam, just gonnae no !”

I dreamt last night that sevco would not win their fight to be installed to the SPL, and my prayers were answered. Tonight I am going to bed and will be dreaming that Peter Lawwell confronts the SPL/SFA/Hampden pk tomorrow morning and hands in Celtics notice to Scottish football, (12 months notice) informing them that we are away to play in the Dutch/Portugese league next year, and they can stuff their scottish football up their A****.

Not had the chance to read back but….

I sincerely hope Celtic voted NO!

I think it’s vitally important that we show the other teams in the SPL that we stand shoulder to shoulder in the fight against those cheating hun bassa’s.

And thats just reegan, dunc and co that I’m talkin’ about.

  20. Hoop hoop Hooray on

How many huns are gonna turn out to support the tribute act anyway regardless of what division they are in. I would suspect many have already walked so this again would lessen dungcasters arguement as to the amount of money lost if they aint voted in to div 1

  22. The Prince of Goalkeepers on

I think that if they go to SFL 3 we will see PDQ a re-org of the SFL leagues (from 3 to 2) to ensure they only spend 2 seasons out of the SPL.

Furthermore I think we will see a rule change with regard to the requirement for 3 years audited accounts to play in SPL (unless of course this is a UEFA requirement).

Last figure I saw for Killie debt was around £11M, and some had proposed that if Newco had been admittend to the SPL today Kilmarnock would have been right behind them in going down the admin/asset transfer/liquidate/newco/SPL route.

  28. To be the only club in Scottish football history to win all the leagues, newco would have to win the SPL as well as they have NO history!

Wiggy has remained remarkably loyal since he was unceremoniously discarded by the now defunct huns.
