No to Newco Day

342

Despite of the most intense lobbying and doomsday predicting from chief executive, Neil Doncaster, SPL clubs have “overwhelmingly” voted ‘No to Newco’, finally rejecting the bid by one of Charles Green’s Sevco companies to form a team and gain access to the SPL.

This is the conclusion of what only last month looked like an unlikely grass-roots campaign which left several reluctant clubs with little choice but to accept the wishes of their supporters.

Neil Doncaster’s position is compromised after his ‘there is little difference between a CVA and liquidation’ campaign, as he contorted to win support for new rules which would make it easier for him to meet revenue targets.

The right conclusion has been reached.  Well done to all.

  1. What a day! Never thought there was enough balls to go around to make this happen.

What an opportunity there exists for Scottish football right now. I hope there’s a real leader out there to grab the opportunity for a fair system and make decisions for the benefit of all sides.

I hope Celtic play their part in this rebuilding – their part is to help lead. They need IMO to do so in a very diplomatic but firm way. The other teams are still the opposition to be beaten but the relationships may just have changed.

Cheats almost always get found out. Once the corpse stops spasming perhaps it’s followers will even reflect on what’s gone on – wont hold my breath though.

Anyone know what happened to the 2 USofA guys from the ex-team? Not seen it reported if they’ve given Sevco the GTF?

    Climbing up on Solsbury Hill

I could see the city light

Wind was blowing, time stood still

Eagle flew out of the night

    He was something to observe

Came in close, I heard a voice

    Standing stretching every nerve

Had to listen had no choice

I did not believe the information

I just had to trust imagination

My heart going boom boom boom

“Son,” he said “Grab your things,

I’ve come to take you home.”

    [ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsfreak.com/p/peter+gabriel/solsbury+hill_20107506.html ]

To keep in silence I resigned

My friends would think I was a nut

    Turning water into wine

Open doors would soon be shut

So I went from day to day

Tho’ my life was in a rut

“Till I thought of what I’d say

    Which connection I should cut

I was feeling part of the scenery

I walked right out of the machinery

My heart going boom boom boom

“Hey” he said “Grab your things

I’ve come to take you home.”

    (Back home.)

    When illusion spin her net

I’m never where I want to be

    And liberty she pirouette

When I think that I am free

    Watched by empty silhouettes

Who close their eyes but still can see

    No one taught them etiquette

    I will show another me

    Today I don’t need a replacement

I’ll tell them what the smile on my face meant

My heart going boom boom boom

“Hey” I said “You can keep my things,

They’ve come to take me home.”

Gordon Smith on still talking about rangers & saying they´ll be the only team to win all the divisions ha ha ha.

On a More sinister note he says there´s going to be a lot of animosity to other clubs from rangers supporters & they will also boycott all away games.

  5. It is a battle won Ghirls and Bhoys, we have will have a few skirmishes yet as ‘die toten Hunnen‘ and the axis forces of MSM / SFA regroup and put together another cunning plan to speichern sie die Hunnen. (Save the Hun)

  6. A couple of points

    1. How can Dundee be conflicted over what League the newco gets into in the SFL. They or Dunfermline will be getting promoted no matter how they vote!

There will always be a Rangers in the top division in Scotland.

    Rangers are Scotland.

The SFA The SPL The SFL are Rangers

    We are the people

When you cast your eyes upon the skylines

    Of this once proud nation

Can you sense the fear and the hatred

Growing in the hearts of its population

And our youth, oh youth, are being seduced

by the greedy hands of politics and half truths

The beaten generation, the beaten generation

Reared on a diet of prejudice and mis-information

The beaten generation, the beaten generation

Open your eyes, open your imagination

We’re being sedated by the gasoline fumes

    and hypnotised by the satellites

Into believing what is good and what is right

You may be worshipping the temples of mammon

Or lost in the prisons of religion

But can you still walk back to happiness

When you’ve nowhere left to run?

Andif they send in the special police

To deliver us from liberty and keep us from peace

Then won’t the words sit ill upon their tongues

when they tell us justice is being done

and that freedom lives in the barrels of a warm gun…..BANG BANG YOUR DEAD

I take it that Green’s helicopter has been stood down until next week, when it will be on 24 hour stand-by to visit SFL chairmen.

Surely after the SPL issue their invite to Club12, Doncoyote’s involvement in this scandal will be over.

It will be Longmuir and then Regan’s baby then.

  20. Gordybhoy @ 14.44,

On the contrary, if Killie’s chairman has made an about-turn under pressure from their fans that shoiuld be acknowledged & the club should not be boycotted. The biggest positive in the whole shambles has been the willingness of the fans of other clubs to stand up for the rules of the game, whether they like or loath Celtic. There’s no need to create new enemies or new enmity – we already have enough of both.
