I know you have soft spot for Callum McGregor. He has been a rock for Celtic for so long that even last season’s disappointments were never regarded as a reflection on the man who Ange Postecoglou will almost certainly confirm as his first captain at Celtic.
Good players in poor teams look anything like good players, though, and Callum ended the domestic campaign with little to look back on with satisfaction. I’m not going to tell you the Scotland national team is any good, but they have the infrastructure of a functional team, which despite so many accomplished players, Celtic did not possess last season.
Fix the infrastructure and Callum McGregor is one of several who will flourish. Loved his goal last night, but it is not even in my top two of his into that net, not even close.

I was talking to my sister earlier about htis One Britian One Nation video and there was good news and bad news.
Firstly, her school only heard aboit it today so there is little chance that they are going to do anything about it if they expect the celebration day to be this Friday (when many of Scotland’s schools have already closed)

My sister says that jer reaction is unsurprising because the Dept. of Education has already backed and pushed a programme of “Promoting fundamental British values as part of SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social & Cultural Development) in schools. This was a 2014 launched policy which was quite inclusive and multi-cultural in intent, basically about tolerance and inclusiveess and democracy rather than jingoism BUT, in her school this has led to a Union Flag and a picture of Her Maj in every classroom where none was before.
With the Government recently getting pet researchers in two separate publications to conclude that there was no such thing as Institutional Racism or White Privilege, we can easily see the intent behind Tory Policy to create a Little Englander mentality all over the UK.
The worst of this has been avoided in Scotland up till now but the link ernie lynch gave on CQN to pupils being prompted to praise the First Minister for saving them from Covid, shows that we need to be on our guard against this tendency to Praise Big Brother, whether his name is Boris or Nicila or Keir or whoever leads the lib Dems this week.

You don’t know much about Cookies, Track and Trace, granted. Also, if boom and bust is going to effect our success this season, or lack of it, Der Hun Titanic has much more to worry about than the ship Celtic built to last.
McGregor, may or may not stay with Celtic, he’s a sellable asset that has proven himself to handle a bigger playing platform. Unlike last season any player that attracts a healthy offer will not be rebuffed.
Winning our domestic league, reclaiming Champion status is our main objective. Progression in Europe is, as ever, an important bonus.

I mentioned this to my wife who is a primary school teacher and she hadn’t heard anything about it.
Plus, as SFTB I think, said yesterday, this OBON propaganda has to be delivered tomorrow, Friday 25th June.
Our schools finish up for the summer holidays at 1pm today!!
I would like to see English teachers use the OBON idea as a legitimate topic for discussion in a lesson. The outcome of such discussions might not be quite what the OBON creators had in mind.
