Penalty box possession and shots from outside the area

You thought St Mirren were a hard watch?  Livingston won three and drew three of their last six games but did not manage the majority of possession in any of those outings.  Incredibly, they beat Dundee (by four goals), Dundee United and Aberdeen with an average of 39% possession.

If they dug in against the team at the bottom of the league, they will only leave their defensive third to have a shot on goal against the league leaders on Sunday (expect them to shoot on sight).

There will be no surprises.  High crosses into the box will be successfully defended.  There will be no space in front of goal, marking will be skintight, the defensive line will be straight.  The pitch will be terrible, passing and control will be difficult – if you have a ticket, please be forgiving.

If you needed a reason to be concerned more than Celtic’s historical results against Livi, their recent form is impressive.  Livingston have collected the joint second highest points total from their last five games, just two behind Celtic.

The first objective will be to get possession inside their box.  We have the players to make any defender nervous at making a rash challenge with a penalty on the line.  Shots from the edge of the area will be important.  A ricochet did us no harm against St Mirren, against a packed defence, another is very possible.

Teams who win leagues win games like this.  Three points for Celtic here will go a long way to achieving that objective.

    A right wing Indian view imo,rather simplistic view.(it omits religion/cultural links)(wee bit to much communist loathing)but it is a view i can read,dissent etc jim here but if I am in Russia I may need access to “dark web”/or Virtual Private Networks to access content we can freely discuss.

    Over the last few seasons we have been very predictable in how we play against Livingston, which makes their preparation easy.

     

    If we want to beat them we need an element of surprise, so I would play our normal game in 1st half, but if it isn’t working we change

     

    – high balls to back post for GG to attack and others to feed off scraps and low crosses to front post for Maeda to attack.

     

    – play the rules and “invite” their defenders to make tackles around their box

     

    – let our keeper occasionally go long and try to get the ball in the 20 yards between their defence and keeper, with Maeda, Abada using their pace to get in one on one.

     

    If all else fails in last 15 ,put CCV upfront with Bitton or Jullien in defence

    It got me to wondering just what the plan is for such peepul should Scotland leave the UK.

    Forced sterilization?

    Certainly not a decision I would have made.

     

     

    Though as I’ve never been a member of the Labour Party it was never going to be my decision.

     

     

    But as I say the interesting point about it is that it highlights that Scotland, like NI, is a hotbed of Dobery.

     

     

    Which is one reason why I would prefer to remain as a member of the UK.

     

     

    A view of course held by generations of Celtic fans (well at least those of us from an Irish immigrant background).

     

     

    So I would be interested to hear just what the cult’s view is about what should be done with such peepul should Scotland ever be daft enough to leave the UK.

     

     

    It’s a tricky one because they could argue, with some justification, that they have longer and stronger roots in this country than many of us.
