Performing with an edge, naked opportunism

1065

If you were a professional football player, you would love to be in the Celtic dressing room tomorrow evening.  You would have the perfect opportunity to challenge yourself; put in a big, meaningful performance.  Record a bit of history and create a uniquely memorable victory.

There are some players who are fraught with anxiety on such occasions, but there are others who NEED these games, need an edge, to reach their peak.  If we have a team full of the latter, Legia are in for a torrid night.

I’m doing my best to ignore the naked opportunism in our media this week.  There is no point complaining about it, lose heavily and you become vulnerable to those who live to revel in a Celtic defeat.  Don’t lose and you don’t give them (friends and foes alike) a chance.

We’ve been here before.  Artmedia, Braga, Utrecht, Sion (despite the reprieve) and Karagandy all exposed an aching heart.  European football is unforgiving, try to transition and you’ll find someone ready to exploit, but that doesn’t mean you are wrong to transition.

We might talk about this transition more later in the month but we have a game to win first.  Can’t wait.

Check out the fantastic work by the cyclists who are taking part in the Paradise to Cardenden Cycle 2014 on 6 September. You can join them – all you need is a bike. Get involved, you’ll be delighted you did, I promise. Read about it here.

Don’t worry I won’t be watching them but I’d have guessed that somebody would pay them money for such a highly prestigious cup tie!!! :-)

7.5 million for KC? Yeah right. Who on earth would pay that for him? Sounds like rubbish.

    Transition?

We seem constantly to be in transition.

Success is built not on transition but on continuity.

That continuity can still involve a frequent rotation of personnel, but with a knowledge of who is out,who is in,and why.

Our current model seems to be-

Out-successful players who can make us a few bob. Also anyone who earns too much, like approaching CEO levels.

    In-anybody cheap.

    Why-see last part of out.

I raised a similar point with MACJAY earlier.

The whole situation in The Middle East is a disaster.

Btw,ISIS are also not too keen on non-Muslims in their strongholds.

Or in fact Muslims who are not to their liking.

If we get offer of 2m+ kris will be sold on.

  11. just downloaded last nights clyde1 podbay.

    OMG.

Celtic – slated at every turn.

that’s the precedent set for the season now.

  12. -Tojo-

    surprised?

Only thing that still surprises me is the number of celtic fans i hear repeating their drivel

  13. Sometimes we deserve to be slated.

Lack of investment in the playing staff, the overall quality of the playing staff and unacceptable performance should always be slated.

Playing in an inferior league is no excuse for having a poor quality side, people think and say it is. But it’s not.

  14. prestonpans bhoys dam justice for the 5

I fear tonight will see the start of a season of Mibbery like never before to ensure sevco feelgood factor,we call it cheating:)))

  15. Oh really?

RANGERS manager Ally McCoist admits he is keeping his fingers crossed that the club’s off-field woes will become a thing of the past.

The Ibrox club have endured a turbulent two-year spell since rising from the ashes of liquidation.

    Nice to see ya back.

Not that we agree on much,of course!

But heyho,a friendly disagreement wi the same big picture in mind is better than the norm on here lately.

Were you in The Brazen when the English CW fans in a Union Jack outfits came in for a drink?

  17. Just logged in, thanks proudbhoy. Delighted to see a 3 day truce. Hope it holds and is extended. However what is needed is a long term political solution.

I’m fatalistic about tomorrow night, I don’t expect to win the tie but it is very important that we win the match and play well.

Up for a hoot in October?

  19. They are hanging RD high already.

he’s lost a game 4-1 with a chance to retrieve it, comparing him to Paul Le Guen, who had 31 games in charge of sevco.

………..and to be honest some the Neanderthal Celtic fans phoning in to that show is absolutely incredible. Brainless feeders to the MSM.

These guys should never go to CP again – ever.

I feel ashamed for their comments.

  20. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

Getting Dallas out of UEFA HQ, has to be potentially a good thing.

However, he is probably being replaced by a clone.

At least if Sammi returns to Geek football, he will know what to expect from the refs.

Most of them aren’t Celtic fans at all, mate.

Still fewer are the type of Celtic fan either of us would like to know.

Programmes like that have a target audience and it disnae include us.
