Pin it to the dressing room wall

Straight from the off on Saturday you knew this would be a more accomplished Celtic performance than our last league outing against Dundee. Brown and Bitton in central mid, with Charlie Mulgrew partnering Erik Sviatchenko in central defence.

Charlie is at the back end of his career but you know you are getting a seasoned SPL pro, who is going to clear his lines, attack the ball, and not try to be Beckenbauer (i.e. he’d rather not attempt a 20 yard pass than risk misplacing one).  I’ve liked the look of Erik since he’s arrived, our clean sheet count has improved immeasurably, but the Dane was culpable at the Thistle penalty. He was turned, then put his arm around his opponent’s waist. A nailed-on penalty which could have cost us in different circumstances.

I loved Kilmarnock striker Josh Magennis’ comments after his teams’ defeat at Pittodrie: “We can do Aberdeen a favour next week by beating Celtic, we haven’t lost in our two games against them this season.”

Pin it to the dressing room wall at Lennoxtown, Ronny.  We battered Kilmarnock last time out, creating 20 attempts but couldn’t convert, and we let them off the hook earlier in the season at Rugby Park by conceding a late penalty.  No mistakes this time.

Well said, the importance of the away support is essential. Pity Celtic chose the away game I’m missing to drop the price :-(

  2. Mr Pastry, nice points about away vouchers and gate receipts.

My view is that Celtic have a social responsibility to all, which should see them lead the way in ticket pricing .

Today, no matter the circumstances, was a twitch of that responsibility. We just need to twitch more often.

The zombies want deila to stay at the helm … and if that means winning 5iar so be it .

They feel confident that under deila we will continue to regress and they will catch celtice soon

Alternatively .. lose the league and deila will be canned and significant money invested to bring in and fund a better manager / team

Hopefully Celtic’s goodwill will extend to the home support. It should.

Aberdeen are charging £15 a ticket for home games now…

  5. Cowiebhoy,

I agree Celtic should be leading the way in ticket pricing. Maybe it will come.

  8. Here’s an idea to get people to attend.

Demand the SFA answer the res 12 questions.

Demand the trophies won under the DOS scheme be stripped.

Demand a review of referees with a transparent marking system.

In other words run a proper sport rather than a sham, so punters who will not be made fools off can return and support the hoops without paying to fund corruption.

    Just a few thoughts.

  10. Absolute joke by Celtic to help reduce the cost of tickets v Kilmarnock.

They’re totally missing the point of the whole exercise regarding the boycott.

That club made no bones this season about stating they would charge all other teams a flat rate for ticket prices except for.games v Celtic, when we would be charged more.

What did we hear club say about this?……..feck all

A few seasons ago they gave us 3 sections.of their ground when we won the league. It cost every Celtic supporter £2 more than it did for the Rangers support, who were offered the same 3 stands the previous season in the same situation.

What did our club say regarding that?………..feck all

Celtic are completely missing the point of the bhoycott.

Time & again we have been fleeced by the Kilmarnock chairman & when we, the support decide to make a stand, the Celtic board make a complete arse of the whole thing and pay some sort of subsidy to get Celtic supporters through the turnstiles.

    They should be given NOTHING.

They should be allowed to rot in the stench of their own greed.

Why we as a club pander to this kind of bollocks is beyond me.

Once again Celtic, Johnson will be rubbing his hands with glee.

Once again Celtic, you’ve made a complete fecking balls up of the situation & made the supporters look a laughing stock.

    Shame on you

    Thoughts please.

CFC board have failed their director obligations. This is a legal matter more than football administration.

The board are keeping themselves at arms length from Res 12 for that reason. Imagine this got out. We’re led to believe CFC board didn’t know about RFC obtaining license by deception & corruption. How would that make this board look to investors?

Directors role is to ensure the company is run for the benefit of it’s shareholders.

Evidence has emerged that this company has possibly been passed over in realising champions league income.

This money is factored in for alterative forecasts for coming financial year.

The health of the company relies on such income. If this income has been denied illegally then the it is the role of the officers of the company to take whatever steps are necessary to satisfy itself and its shareholders.

CFC board have in my estimation cut a deal with SFA. Concessions have been given.

  17. I’ve noticed a few comments regarding next seasons possible games against a R*ngers.

    Pre-2012 games against a R*ngers were £42.

Last week the EPL capped away ticket prices at £30.

This puts the SPFL clubs in a position. No club can charge over £30 for a game in Scotland due to the EPL decision.

We paid £25 on Saturday to watch Paul Pogba’s brother. Fans in Italy see Paul Pogba for less. This Saturday we were going to be charged £26 to watch Josh Magennis. For £4 more next season you could watch Augero or Sturridge.

Our clubs and rulers look to England enviously and for inspiration. What they wish to be could have just ended up serving the dinner they don’t want to eat.

  18. Weeandybhoy

Celtic’s starting position is weak with all the points you raise. They canny comment on anyones ticket prices while they charge what they charge.

Until that changes then we will always get situations like this.

  19. My final point of the night.

Lionsroar are you really saying that 5000 Celtic Fans were not going to bother going to Kilmarnock but because their day was made £6 cheaper by Celtic, they are going to change their mind and now go.

Because that is the only possible scenario where Celtic could be accused of giving Kilmarnock 30K.

Anybody heading off to a game are likely to spend 50 or 60 quid on the day, between travel expenses match ticket, a bit of grub and a few drinks, saving or not saving £6 will not be a huge factor in deciding whether to go or not to go.

I doubt if the £6 will add 50 people to the gate. What will happen is that the few thousand Celts that were going anyway will save £6 a head, and that’s not a bad thing.

That’s me done for the night, Good Night & God Bless All. UTLR.

  20. Prestonpans Bhoy

Season ticket needs more value. A wider range of benefits other than just attending games. The pricing of match day tickets shouldn’t be linked to season books. Two different income streams.

Celtic should benefit season ticket holders by dropping the prices back to last seasons level. This seasons price rise was unnecessary and badly handled.

    not a celtic blog anymore.

    —————-

Corkcelt / Timhorton – why do you say that? Because people don’t take the Board actions at face value?

No offence gentlemen, but events of the past few days have led to many people, previously classed as Board supporters, or ‘happy-clappers’, to seriously doubt the reasons for any of the actions of our Board. I think anyone doubting Board motives right now has plenty cause for concern, and a good deal of justification.

Doesn’t mean we have ‘sad lives’, or aren’t Celtic fans with valid views to post on a Celtic blog.

A lot of people do not trust our Board fot lots of different reasons – some never have. I’ve never been in the latter group, but the lack of leadership in challenging SFA behaviour now reeks of collusion – is it any wonder, therefore, that people have grown cynical?

The Board has a lot to do – and I mean in terms of direct action, rather than relying on supporters to do the work for them – about the fundamental maladministration and poor governance of the game by the SFA before they win trust back.

A £6 ‘donation’ to fans going to Kilmarnock (and me and Wee BGFC will be two of them) is utterly irrelevant in relation to the wider corruption that our Board is completely failing to address.

We’ll be there home and away every week – but credit to the Board right now? I don’t think so. Their cynicism in more important areas makes me doubt the reasons for this.

As someone posted earlier, it completely cuts the legs out from under a planned fan protest – why do that?

Are Celtic giving Kilmarnock the money anyway – why do that?

Why not stand up for the Celtic fans, and tell Kilmarnock we won’t handle tickets for the game unless they price the game thesame for our fans as they do for everyone else?

Oh – wait a minute – I said stand up for our fans, didn’t I? That was a stupid thing to expect – no evidence of that happening recently, is there?

Sorry for being so negative – past week / Res 12 has just completely scunnered me with PL, Bankier, Livingston, et. al.

Fergie was already a big time winner when he took over Man Utd, he broke the Glasgow hoodoo for provincial c;ubs winning at Celtic park, Hampdump and Ibrox, he also beat Real Madrid in a major European final all with a provincial club

There is just no football comparison between Delia and Ferguson none, Ferguson wrote the management coaching manual, Delia has only read it

Professional football at first team level is about winning Eddie, Ferguson combined it with youth development

I have been fortunate to have participated in many youth football tournaments my experience of latin Mediterranean teams is they love winning even at youth level, only the Dutch totally never truly cared about winning at youth level

Before Ronny came to Celtic we already had in place Scotland’s biggest youth development programme headed up by Chris McCart, it was based on the successful French model which i myself witnessed 20 years ago, we are the only club in Scotland that has a full time youth set up at school level http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/celtic/6175047/Celtic-breaking-new-ground-with-European-style-youth-development.html

You have been convinced Ronny is the real deal, and given time of course we dont know how much time 5, 10. 15 ? years, a new era of footballing success beckons with Ronny’s philosophy and ideals that will transform Celtic

IMO it is significant this last remaining 9 games this season that unlike Fergie Ronny cant win anything with kids, that’s why Mulgrew, commons and Brown will play

Its all about opinions Eddie, i personally dont believe in the Delia project, as i dont believe from what i have seen he has it to be a manger
