Pin it to the dressing room wall

Straight from the off on Saturday you knew this would be a more accomplished Celtic performance than our last league outing against Dundee. Brown and Bitton in central mid, with Charlie Mulgrew partnering Erik Sviatchenko in central defence.

Charlie is at the back end of his career but you know you are getting a seasoned SPL pro, who is going to clear his lines, attack the ball, and not try to be Beckenbauer (i.e. he’d rather not attempt a 20 yard pass than risk misplacing one).  I’ve liked the look of Erik since he’s arrived, our clean sheet count has improved immeasurably, but the Dane was culpable at the Thistle penalty. He was turned, then put his arm around his opponent’s waist. A nailed-on penalty which could have cost us in different circumstances.

I loved Kilmarnock striker Josh Magennis’ comments after his teams’ defeat at Pittodrie: “We can do Aberdeen a favour next week by beating Celtic, we haven’t lost in our two games against them this season.”

Pin it to the dressing room wall at Lennoxtown, Ronny.  We battered Kilmarnock last time out, creating 20 attempts but couldn’t convert, and we let them off the hook earlier in the season at Rugby Park by conceding a late penalty.  No mistakes this time.

Can anyone advise if theres any tickets going on general sale, to non season ticket holders for Saturday?

  2. Leigh has scored the bulk of our goal this season. I know its tantamount to sacrilege t some to offer criticism when he has been in great goal scoring form.

Is his conversion of chances that good?

I just think we our dominance is rarely reflected on the score board.

This keep the opposition in the game longer and makes for nervous finishes.

Maybe its time for other to step up with a few goals.

Your mates who don’t go any more because of ‘apathy’ ought to learn what it means to be a football supporter because they are like spoilt brats when you look at supporters of clubs who never have a hope of winning anything yet turn up to support their teams.

Your mates who don’t go because they are ‘disgusted’, do they have the same reasoning as yourself for their disgust? If so, why don’t you arrange a visible protest outside the main stand before the remaining home league matches?

Far be it for me to tell anyone what to do with their time, but given that 1) you’d clearly love to get back to CP and 2) you have the time to eloquently put your points across on here several times a week, wouldn’t it be a more productive use of your time to have a visible protest at the ground which may raise awareness of issues such as Res 12 among the wider support?

Got to be more productive than going round in circles on here for the forseeable future.

If you’re not prepared to do that the get behind the team because we have a Double to win.

  4. Condolences to Starry and Mountblow. Terrible news on their losses.

I watched my first EPL match on tv in 3 years last night. Leicester vs Newcastle. Kudos to Leicester, their players and their manager for being on the verge of winning the league. It was also nice to see their fans getting behind their team. From the table, they are at the top because of their form over the season so they merit their place, I guess.

But by by god, were both teams rotten. Neither could string 5 passes together.

I would even fancy our chances against Leicester if we qualify for the CL next season.

I’ve watched more EPL this year than I have for about the last 7/8 years where there was some years I didn’t watch any. Watching more football in general mind you due to the easy accessibility via various routes…

But yes, remember big Virgils quote when comparing Scottish football, Dutch and English football. He said that it was like a pinball machine in England.

He said that as if it was a good thing.

Its no wonder they get passed off the pitch by the Barcas and Bayerns and sometimes even by European sides considered average.

The Man Utd-West Ham game was an eye opener, passes going astray all over the place. These 2 sides are in the top 7 out of 92 clubs in England.

Fergie was already a big time winner when he took over Man Utd, he broke the Glasgow hoodoo for provincial c;ubs winning at Celtic park, Hampdump and Ibrox, he also beat Real Madrid in a major European final all with a provincial club

There is just no football comparison between Delia and Ferguson none, Ferguson wrote the management coaching manual, Delia has only read it

Professional football at first team level is about winning Eddie, Ferguson combined it with youth development

I have been fortunate to have participated in many youth football tournaments my experience of latin Mediterranean teams is they love winning even at youth level, only the Dutch totally never truly cared about winning at youth level

Before Ronny came to Celtic we already had in place Scotland’s biggest youth development programme headed up by Chris McCart, it was based on the successful French model which i myself witnessed 20 years ago, we are the only club in Scotland that has a full time youth set up at school level http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/celtic/6175047/Celtic-breaking-new-ground-with-European-style-youth-development.html

You have been convinced Ronny is the real deal, and given time of course we dont know how much time 5, 10. 15 ? years, a new era of footballing success beckons with Ronny’s philosophy and ideals that will transform Celtic

IMO it is significant this last remaining 9 games this season that unlike Fergie Ronny cant win anything with kids, that’s why Mulgrew, commons and Brown will play——————————————————————-

Fergie didn’t didn’t use youth in his first 3 seasons at Man Utd, he used what was already there and then bought the like of Hughes and McClair to supplement the existing personel. I can’t be a@@@d checking but I think you’ll find the average age of his teams in his 1st 3 seasons was probably higher than ours is now.

Again I’m not comparing Ronny to Fergie but I think you know that anyway.

This is maybe uncomfortable for some but Ronny is where we are at as a team and a brand going forward. Brendan Rogers and Davie Moyes aren’t ever coming to Celtic, not while we remain in Scottish football, which is probably for the foreseeable future.

If Ronny goes it will be the likes of Stubbs that comes in. Ronny is our level, someone with potential and ideas that may or may not succeed, he’s a gamble we all knew that when he came. Now that we’ve took the gamble see it through the alternative of the Mowbrays and Stubbs of the world are ten a penny.

We are aspiring to being 4th seeded team in the CL group stages, the reality of that is that we are going to be the whipping boys of the group most years that we qualify. That’s the reality of where we are as a club, we play in a league that is on a par with Norway, I think some of our fans have difficulty in understanding where we are now.

For me it’s a no brainer give the guy time to put his team on the park, allow him to clear the decks and get rid of the dead wood. That can’t happen overnight he needs time to implement his changes. I’m prepared to give him that time as I don’t see a better alternative.
