Portents poor for Ideguchi

358

The portents are not good for Yosuke Ideguchi, injured again and set to be a spectator for the start of the season.

Signings don’t all work, but Ange Postecoglou saw something in him and he did enough to impress Leeds United scouts four years ago. Work permit issues meant he was loaned out on arrival at Leeds, a move which didn’t work out.

The positivity towards our manager and Japanese players is such, I think we are all prepared to give ‘Guchi as much time as her needs to get fit and show his value. Still, football moves on, others are likely to press their case ahead of him.  It is likely to be a long and uneventful season ahead for our January signing.

The physical infrastructure left is easily measured – it’s the follow on investment that is less certain.

In Manchester’s case they were lucky that Citeh took over the stadium and has invested heavily in the area with training facilities and a small stadium for academy games etc.

Transport links are vital to sustain improvement – Manchester metro tram in the case of the Etihad.

In Glasgow looks as if little has been done to improve that aspect

So you list what you THINK will be Sunday’s starting XI then complain about the lack of new faces.

    Heard it all now.

    Hilarious.

The England manager may look like Peter Grant but can she point like Peter?

  9. The AB transfer figure grows with every telling …

Started out £2.5mill and keeps growing by the day.

Not sure if I can see the value at the moment.

Can be seen as good value if your metric is the EPL

Not so good if you are looking at prices on the continent.

Here’s hoping it turns out well in the end.

  10. Alright Tom,

What do you think it will be ? Remember to include all those new faces now.

So none of the individual players has improved?

Settled team – champion season under their belt.

    New coaching appointments.

We should be looking at the squad – 5 subs is a game changer.

How are you gauging the fact that the starting 11 hasn’t been improved? If you look at the starting 11this time last year it has improved more than most would have expected. While from May there are no ‘new faces’ two (CCV and Jota) are now Celtic players and not loans, as well as that O’Reilly, Maeda, Kyogo, Hatate and Juranovic are now well imbedded in to the team and fit. The starting 11 on face value has been improved quite significantly, of course IMHO

Looks like the 6th of August is Tchaikovsky then, I know GFTB is on his Family Holibags, We’ve never met, yet, and a reason I wanted the 6th to happen.

So where is the Pool weekend BRRB is talkin’ aboot?

When GFTB gets Bach online I’ll ask if he is still up for a wee session, I know I was just letting BRRB pick the pubs..

He’s here 2 minutes, doesn’t speak the lingo and has in front of him a guy who is well drilled in Ange’s instructions, if not limited.

Give him time before judging. I like the look of him. He tries to play the kind of forward passes that Ange would call bravery (similar to Hatate). He has a trick, pace and technique. 3 things missing from that position. I’m excited at the prospect of him and Maeda up to speed as a partnership.

  15. The team that played against Norwich (they have a lovely strip btw) will start against the Dandy Dons.

I have a soft spot for East Anglia.

  16. McPhail Bhoy,

I’m clearly seeing all those benefits and agree with you but I wonder what Ange had in mnind when he said we’d be back ‘bigger and better’ ?

I’ll wait until the windae shuts as I expect more incomings but a left footed CH (maybe it’s Jenz), a Souza type in midfield, left winger and forward still outstanding for me. I hope we are still in the loan to perm market.

Like many of his vintage he didn’t talk about it much.

Until I caught him watching a documentary on the history of parachuting.

And the conversation started from there — thinning the gin in the officers mess was a particular highlight amongst the lowlights of the three way fight in the streets outside.

Is it not possible that some of last season`s players are now `bigger and stronger` ?

  20. BW @ 10.9

Fair point I suppose but …

He looks a bit undercooked / still learning the basics of his position.

Was hoping for a more complete / mature player that would be a starter.

As things stand GT looks to have the jersey for the next 6 months at least.

As you note there could be many things holding him back.

My thoughts are that he is still learning the position as well as the language with us.

KT at 21 is probably too high a bar but it is difficult to forget.

As I posted to PETEC earlier as far as I am aware there is NO CONCRETE meeting arranged for the 6th August, UNLKESS some others are happy to arrange such a meet on that day ?

    I will NOT be there.

NOTHING to do with me, anyway its a BIG MISTAKE to arrange a meet in The Shipbank Pub on a SATURDAY or on a SUNDAY/MONDAY, as its usually very busy with singers etc taking over.
