Pour some ‘Best wee country’ syrup down your throat

273

Whatever former Scotland manager Craig Levein tells the media about referees’ behaviour will not come as news to you.  As Dundee United boss in 2008 he faced Rangers and was so incensed by the behaviour of referee, Mike McCurry, his reaction cost him a £5k SFA fine.

This is Scotland, it is not news, it is not even noteworthy.  The reaction from sections of the media and referees since a Celtic goal on Thursday tells you all you need to know.  Let them pour some more ‘Best wee country’ syrup down your throat while they are at it.  My only flag is green and white.

Kyogo’s goal has now been more analysed than the Zapruder video.

    —————————–

What team did he play for ?

I wenjoyed that as though it were only yesterday !

The joy of the Killie fans should maybe have some of us rethinking our view that they had a soft spot for Rangers then andSevco now.

    Big Jimmy

    Great to see you back.

    Cheerio for now.

  3. So we’ve had the head of refereeing in this country comment on the decision, an ex-English ref who writes for a Sevco publication state that Kyogo should be fined for ‘feigning injury’ and we have had the ex-Hearts chairman say that the 1-0 game should be replayed.

Are our board going to just sit there and say nothing? They are beyond useless. Incompetent, spineless imposters.

  4. Rock Tree Bhoy on

Is anybody else worried about the safety of the sevco fans travelling to France? Sincerely hope the Gendarme don’t put on their riot cop gear, get up on to their horses and cavalry charge the sevco fans with their batons drawn – lashing out at all and sundry wearing the sevconian colours, now that would not be fair. Great entertainment – but definitely not fair.

  5. RS- Are our board going to just sit there and say nothing? They are beyond useless. Incompetent, spineless imposters.

    Yes

  6. so as we agreed at the time it was a red card and the guy concerned will get his just rewards but what about the ref, ass ref and fourth official nothing, zilch scot free they all know they have to toe the party line because if they don’t they will not get selected for SPL games and that hits them in the pocket.

  7. We all know by now, or at least, should know, we are despised by the majority of Scotland, fact.

We should adopt the siege mentality and give thems nothing, I mmean nothing , with which to scandalise us.

Brings me back to the Tannadice song book. We, decent Celtic fans know it’s wrong but, does the club brass not know or understand that, course they do. I suggest at the next Ange press conference, he and Calmac state categorically that these songs have no place at Celtic. Sure that would do the trick. All these idiots do is give fodder to the Celtic haters, nothing else except make a total arse of themselves.

To be fair Tom , Deans hasn’t been involved in football for some time . He’s just another ‘civilian’ , motivated by a hatred for Celtic .

    Indeed.

And for that reason alone the media pick up his words.

(his current standing, or lack of standing, in the game is irrelevant)

So, if you are currently paying the media’s wages ? …

    … to any degree?

    Respectfully, take note.

  9. The Koyogo goal was ONSIDE, every picture they have shown all show the ball at least 6″ to 12″ from Anto’s foot, with Koyogo running in and the defenders going the opposite way for sure when the ball is that distance from Anto’s foot he will be offside, it doesn’t take a halfwit to work that one out, but they are still trying, efin ejits.

Good to see you back Big Jimmy.

Some of the many thousands of questions that weren’t answered in 2014, are still unanswered, and there’s many thousands more questions now.

    What’ll the currency be?

How much will it cost to establish your own bank, and who’ll pay for it?

How much austerity would have to be endured to balance the books for Scotland to be accepted into the EU, a soon to be 1930’s EU, colonised by big pharma?

How much would each person lose per head when we have to adopt the Euro?

How much will the separatist border cost, what services will have to be cut to pay for this border?

Will the Nuremberg code still be applicable in an Indy country, if not, how long till hollybrood is reduced to ashes, and what services will have to be cut to pay for the rebuild?

Given that Indy means no trade deal with EU till the books are balanced, and no trade deal with the rest of UK as Indy Scotland would be seen as a security risk, how long will it take to replace the lost trade, and what services would be cut until this mind blowing shambles started to make any sense?

The old colonial ways were introduced to intended targeted nations, all over the world, by the sound of the bagpipes (you’ll know us by our noise) as Scotland linked arms with England the spread the rites of Freemasonry all over the world.

Why should Celtic get involved in every self-generated media hoo ha?

The result hasn’t changed and we are purposely not embroiled in the circus. Our attention should not, and, must not, be deflected from our task in hand, i.e. winning the title.

Once you get involved with one bout of tittle-tattle, you must get involvled in all, because if you don’t you will be held to be in agreement at those times where you fail to comment….or as I like to put it ‘rise to the bait’.

This approach was rightly used by Celtic when Rangers were committing suicide by debt in 2011/12. Had Celtic got involved upfront & publically on issues such as the much vaunted Res 12, we would have been dragged into gutter along with Murray, Whyte, Green etc and an ‘Old Firm’ angle would have created & exploited by the media. We would have been caught in the splatter of the sh**-stream coming out of Ibrox.

I am sure all that is going on is being noted at Celtic Park. Michael Nicholson has a legal background and will if & when there is a time to go public. At the moment all we have is ‘hot air’ from the desperate pundits who cover the game in Scotland – a game, but for this kind of gossip, is less interesting & exciting than the Vanarama.

    Tough day. Just finished work.

On European nights when Celtic aren’t playing I enjoy recording the attractive looking fixtures and watching them then one after the other.

Makes for a late night but fun nonetheless.

Am just about to settle down to RB Leipzig vs Man City followed by AC Milan vs Liverpool.

Think the first game will be tight. Can’t call it.

While that is taking place PSG host Bruges.

I’m going to stick my neck out here and suggest Bruges will shock everyone and sneak it.

I’ll go for 0-1 with Jack Hendry magnificently marshalling his defence and rising majestically to bullet home a late headed winner.

    What a player.

    What a talent.

    What a loss.

  20. I hope Giakoumakis gets a chance again before the year is out, he is strong in the air and we are missing that. He was also a very accomplshed penalty taker in Holland!! That miss at Celtic Park is a monkey on his back. His brawn and goal nous are badly needed.

  21. Upsides

I worked with several Kilmarnock supporters over the years both at LEP Irvine and IBM Greenock.

A good pal , older than me, lived in Largs, and loved to watch them.

He had no particular animosity to us, and could rhyme of a lot of celtic connections to them, including who he considered greats in McGrory, Burns and Malky McDonald, and go as far as team of celts, and a team from Inverclyde.

I also knew Eddie Morrison for a while, his daughter worked at IBM Dalrymple street, and he would pick her up and he was happy to chat fitba, both the physio and john mcneill of mroton working there at the time, again detected no animosity towards celtic.

    Doonsides

1980 sometime, Killie 1 celtic 1, big big crowd, lennox scored for us.

Back to a broken down shammy bus, and we are left behind, nice houses edge of a park,

Took a wee while but a mob came from somewhere and the back and forward charges happend for the next half hour or so till polis turned up.

The Di-Canio goal game, I bought seats direct from killie in the main stand, mixed supporters, and a wee tea lounge thing with sandwiches and nibbles, me and my brother.

Centre stand mind, some eejit abuses us non stop whole first half, gets to halftime he comes doon the stairs, and takes a swing ay my wee brother as he goes past, so scuffle doon the narrow stairs as i lay into him.

he never came back up, winker.

Please forgive the intrusion and hypocrisy in returning after I had previously said I wouldn’t but some things just need to be got off the old chest.

Ahh the old songbook conundrum. A bunch of middle-aged middle-class men telling youngsters they aren’t singing ‘in their name’. The fact is they really CGAF what you or anyone else thinks and why the feck should they? You represent Celtic as much as they do – an irrefutable fact if you accept that we, as a support, are a broad church. Now if you don’t like their songs out sing them FFS – stop yer tut-tutting and head shaking and do something about it. Why not go and ask the Celtic board what songs are acceptable as someone here suggested – that is before also suggesting that the Police arrest those Celts who sing the songs they don’t like. Yes, an alleged Celtic supporter made these suggestions – NOT IN MY NAME indeed?

Perhaps the young Celtic support is more politically astute than any of you give them credence for, a lot of assumptions being made about their knowledge of Irish political history also. I’d say in the main it is good as if not far superior to any of the hand wringing lynch mob on here and that they are fully cognizant that the fathers of modern Irish republicanism were in the main Protestants. Perhaps they, the young team, see what is happening on the streets in Scotland, more Orange order parades in Scotland each year than are held in the North of Ireland. Anti-Irish Anti Catholic bile is allowed while Police Scotland stand by and in some instances facilitate the very mass gatherings where these hate crimes are openly allowed and Scottish politicians do nothing but make mealy-mouthed platitudes, the very same Police force some in our support want to get stuck into the young team for singing songs they don’t like BTW. Perhaps the young team is venting their frustrations in the only public arena they have? I see no other reason for the ‘reintroduction’ of Romin’ in the Gloaming and similar numbers to the song sheet. It is, IMO, a very public Feck you to the Scottish authorities

Yesterday marked the Centenary of the signing of the Anglo-Irish peace treaty. And lest ye forget the following 100 years have produced some of the bloodiest in Ireland’s long sad history, yet still part of Ireland remains under military occupation 100 years on. The Irish diaspora remembering those who have fought and died for equality and justice for all of Ireland’s children in song should not be criticised just because someone’s English friends might be offended, least of all they should not be condemned for singing such songs in an edifice and institution built by the Irish diaspora in Scotland, a community who have always played a significant part in Ireland’s struggle for freedom

“The financial contribution to the Irish struggle from among the Scottish communities was in excess of funds from any other country, including Ireland.” Eamon De Valera.
