Prevailing attitude of hunger

1428

Judging by these quotes, John Guidetti may just be the most excited footballer on the planet right now:

“I’m just going to work my socks off…. do my absolute very best…. give 100%.

“The one thing I hate more than anything is losing. I can’t stand it.

“For 90 minutes I am always giving everything.

“You can always expect 100% from your players and I’m going to give that [note the repetition of this assertion].

“I promise I’ll do my very best to do even a little bit of what [Henrik] did.

“Football without fans is nothing, it’s not worth it for me.”

There is a common theme across a few players who joined this summer, they have something to prove.  Guidetti, Mubarak and Tonev each had a difficult time last season, for varying reasons.  They need to hit the mark, whether it’s through form (Tonev), fitness (Guidetti) or simply being able to play in an environment which is remotely normal (Mubarak).

Scepovic is different.  He arrives with the wind at his back, but the prevailing attitude at Lennoxtown should be one of hunger. I suspect this contrasts starkly with last year’s arrivals.

  1. Anyone want to hazard a guess at how long into the show before we here the words sub judice on SSB tonight?

  2. Former Rangers commercial director Imran Ahmad has succeeded in his bid to have £620,000 of club assets frozen.

Lawyers acting for Mr Ahmad claim he was owed a £500,000 bonus for the time he spent working at the Ibrox club.

At the Court of Session in Edinburgh, the judge found in favour of Mr Ahmad that some assets should be ring-fenced until the case completed.

Rangers QC Alan Summers asked for leave to appeal saying there had been an “error of law”.

Leave to appeal was opposed by Mr Ahmad’s QC and a decision on whether it will be allowed will be made on Tuesday morning.

Mr Ahmad, who had twice lost court bids to have Rangers’ assets ring-fenced, claims he is owed £500,000 for negotiating deals and wants another £120,000 to cover legal expenses.

Advocate Kenny McBrearty QC told Lord Stewart that Mr Ahmad was concerned about the current state of the club’s finances and fears Rangers would not be in a position to pay up if the court eventually ruled in his favour.

He told the court Rangers had sold 23,000 season tickets this season, down 15,000 on last season.

Mr McBrearty said the Rangers board’s latest plans for a share issue may only raise £3.6m and cover part of the club’s obligations.

He added: “There is a significant hole in the club’s finances for the forthcoming season.”

After making the arrestment order, judge Lord Stewart said he had a great deal of sympathy with Rangers fans.

He said: “This does not mean the club will be insolvent.”

  3. It’s FFin fine:

“They haven’t ring fenced cash, only certain assets. It doesn’t affect our day to day operations at all.”

The debate on here concerning the Issue of Scottish independence has been very civil in my humble opinion.

Doesn’t bother me in the slightest that people are discussing the matter either, because it is an issue of major importance, in anyone’s book.

Look at it this way – if such an event was taking place in Ireland – there would be war on the streets – before, during and after the referendum. So fair play for debating in a reasonable manner.

There are half a dozen Scottish Saltires flying outside the Rock bar on the Falls Road – alongside the banner of the Republic.

I know u find it difficult to understand my view.it comes from within the catholic faith and not the view of someone outside who uses my faith to peddle inaccuracies and contextualize them to augment that inaccuracy

You ask your questions but to any of them I say my catholic faith has surpassed them.

You are like Ernie Lynch in that respect, you know your hate, but woe betide anyone who tries to alter it.your a bigot addict and cant even see it

Well the catholic faith in this country has moved on from you, its way to dynamic for people like yourself, the orange order are in decline, the church of scotland has even left them behind for the most of them.

People like yourself polarize opposites I prefer to get in bout them and work with them for a better society as a whole. Education plays its part with them but you still seem content to select from history, believe you me if I were to do that I would fill pages with hate.i dont.i love them and with ever diminishing numbers and influence on society I love those that hate even more.its what my faith asks me to do.in essence stop foisting your confusion with the catholic faith on me.your no worse than those who slander it.but I still love ye.

You didnt answer my question- why do you give credence to Westminster figures now? When the same people were factually backing up Thatcher and Bliar!

Have you confidence in old/new labour?

The TUPEing of staff will have been a ‘necessary evil’ in the eyes of Ashley in order to gain control of the shops, commercial operation, etc.

After a decent period, there will be a review of terms and conditions, where I am sure the employees will be given the opportunity to experience the liberating feeling that zero hours contracts can offer staff.

  10. Would it not be in Ashley’s best interest to help keep the lights on in the big hoose due to the merchandising income.

Sports Direct increase the strip sizes according to size. That’s an awful lot of XXXXL toaps they won’t be selling.

  11. be assured of one thing about Mr Ashley , he will not spend a pound unless it`s to make two pounds or to have some fun with.

NUFC were a financial basket case when he bought them, overstaffed , overpaid and full of jobs for the boys. He played hard ball and got the club turned round he will recoup all of his investment.

The Manky Mob may just be a plaything for him at the moment, I hope that is all it remains. He has a track record of turning businesses around.

  12. Do you know i cannot get enthused that much about their latest woes. Yes, it is great that they have poured money down the Drain. However, the day. I will rejoice is the day they put the padlock on the big house. As long as there is a Team playing in their colours and at the big house I cannot get that enthused.

I still do not believe they will go into administration but will continue to limp along as they have done since 2012. I hope i am wrong.

The only other question worthy of a mention is if they do go into administration, how many points will be deducted.

  15. Assuming there is a YES vote and the Orkneys and/or Shetland demand a referendum on Independence?

Their combined populations is roughly the equivalent of the Faeroes, and it is clearly large enough to be considered feasible as a workable economic entity.

They are geographically separated from the rest of the mainland, so might easily considered to be “separate” in a very real sense.

Having spent over 2 years on the Shetlands, I can assure others that the notion of self-determination there is not as fanciful as it might seem when you talk to the locals.

They are nobody’s fools either when it comes to bargaining, as evidenced by the very astute arrangements they came to with the Oil companies regarding Sullom Voe.

Such a move might blow a sizeable hole in the future budgeting plans (such as they are) of Eck.

However, were he to deny them that choice would he not be applying the very same restrictions upon the islanders that he has spent a lifetime trying to unshackle the rest of the country from?

He would leave himself open to accusations of immense hypocrisy, not to mention running the risk of the European Courts forcing his hand.

One poll I saw suggested that a great many Scots might be prepared to place their vote depending on figures as low as being £500 better off.

The upside for Islanders, should they be given the option of controlling the landing and maybe even the refining of Oil and Gas brought ashore would be many multiples of that figure. Many wouldn’t take much convincing of the merits.

Just another possibility to consider I suppose, and yet again a possibility that both sides have been very quiet about.

The presiding judge today will have been presented with a Prima Facie case as to why the funds should be arrested in light if the publicly stated financial position of Sevco. That position would leave him very little room for manoeuvre i would have thought as by their own admission the Gers are impecunious and consequently in the face of a prima facie claim the arrestment would be granted.

Imran of course does this in the full knowledge that he may be liable in damages if it turns out they suffer loss as a result of an arrestment based on a clearly duff case, but Imran, Richard Hughes, Charlie Green and all of them boys have balls of solid steel plus the cash to back up and finance even the most tenuous of cases.

    Rangers are Donald F Ducked.

Last week, Worthington PLC published their accounts and lodged them with the stock exchange. In there, they included a claim to all of the assets of Rangers Football Club.

If they ever get round to lodging that in court, or even if an Administrator is appointed to Sevco, the lawyers will calculate the litigation risk that goes with such a claim and someone will be advised that they might just have to pay — or at least advised of the reasonable cost of getting rid of that claim.

Otherwise the sale by an administrator is fecked or comes with a heavy risk.

    Rangers are Donald F Ducked.

Ashley has taken the shops ahead of the event – employees and all– so that that part of the “empire” is out nice and clean and you may find that the terms of employment in terms of hours and rates of pay might just suit the money grabbing bassa!
