Neil Lennon did us all a favour yesterday by dismissing rumours that he was targeting a striker from Vitoria Guimaraes as nonsense this early in the transfer window. The guidelines are set for your summer ahead. As well as being nonsense, though, it is also profitable news fodder; just think of the amount of advertising which has been wrapped around this story.
What does this teach us? I reckon that the least informed contributions left on the CQN comments page are about as reliable as what passes for mainstream ‘news’. There is a good possibility that even the player didn’t know Celtic’s position on him until it was reported yesterday.
Celtic will be trailing up to 30 players at any point in time, all of whom will have passed one level of scrutiny, but at least 20 of whom would never pass all levels, even if a deal was possible. When players are being scrutinised the position of the club will always be to show courteous interest in proceedings. You and I know what this really amounts to.

The Legend Johnny Doyle
Yes BRT&H turned up and was given a cup of tea and a pen.
It was rather difficult trying to get these two blethers to concentrate on the books.
Worth the trip to Greenock next Thursday to here them together.
Hope everyone has their book now?
valentinesday
Celtic don’t want him, whit’s tae deny?
Lets be honest guys we were top heavy with front men. So much so that with the exception of Sammy, Hoops and Stokes the remaining strikers did not get a look in and didn’t get a run. Therefore it makes more sense to sign a higher quality of player than Russell as we might only sign one striker this window.
HH
Can anyone confirm whether the FOCUS polis have been reassigned during the close season to film marchers at Orange walks- in case there are any sectarian ditties belted out- I hope there is enough film in their camera
Russell or Stokes? I’d prefer Russell.
Russell or Hooper? Hooper please.
Thank God I’m not in charge.
Would love to see Johnny Russell in the Hoops.
Tremendous young player.
Tin hat on, feel like Kevin J
Am I the only one with No faith in John Park, identifying a Striker ?
take a look at last few seasons choices, how many successes ?
And Hooper was not a John Park find
Hail hail
ps, I would take Russel
Russell..? …… Let’s just leave the signing strategy to the meeja……..
I think Russell would flourish at CP.

Speaking of age– here is a link to a wee ageist story I posted up last night.

I expect Neil will looking for a striker who can step up to the plate in the CL this season as that’s where we will be hoping to continue our good run of form, someone he can attract to the club off the back off last years adventure…
Sannabhoy, i emailed you last week. Did you get my mail?
allgreen….
Mega-Wattie….Or Hooper ?
Mega-Wattie….Of Course ?
So Russell & Mega-Wattie….
Oor New Fearsome Striking Partnership…
Ye’ve Cracked It…..Palomine..!
(Obviously Some Distant Relation To Kojo? )
On twitter…
@videocelts: Lassad has left the building, couple of important goals at Aberdeen and Hearts but didn’t look like holding a first team place.
????
By the Way— Johnny Russell at £750k would be a deal for me in a jiffy.
There is someone on twitter who is rubbishing these reports re Derby saying that he is away on holiday and that he has agreed nothing.
Who knows?
Russell must be a great player. Derby want to snap him up.
Yep. Derby.

you could make a tentative call here to see what it could be then look for a specific auction house dealing with such things to take it on if it is of value perhaps all about finding the buyer which they might have

67heaven, just for clarity
Murphy, Bangura, Broziek, Miku & Lassad, to name a few.
And I wanted them all to succeed.
But
I saw nothing in any of them, which would have had me looking to keep.
Hopefully we are freeing up some wages for better
Hail Hail

Was just emphasizing that Mr Park is beyond criticism……
ACGR, your early on the go today
Hope your fully re-invigorated for your next wee outing
Hail Hail
I have read on here that Lassad, Miku, Gershon,Rogne, Murphy & perhaps Paddy have left the building but so far there has not been a word on the Official site. Taking it that we might also sell a couple of our stars, if all the above are gone its some turnover of players.
67heaven … i am neil lennon..!!.. ibrox belongs to the creditors

You may have the same views on him as me then ?
Cowiebhoy
I don’t know who is responsible for finding and who is responsible for sanctioning signings, but we have wasted a lot of money on forwards over the last couple of seasons.
Add Rassmussen and Fortune to your list.
Hooper and Stokes have been successes ,but overall we have a very dodgy record in recent seasons, with forwards.

Not really disappointed with any, with exception of Paddy, although as he ain’t getting a regular game, we may be holding him back.
Hopefully clearing decks for a couple of decent new faces.
Hail Hail
When you look Cowiebhoy’s list it shows you how difficult it is to bring in a successful striker, all the more reason we need to hold on to Hoops & Stokes
Guy on Twitter saying Celtic representatives have negotiated terms for Balde. Now down to those in power to confirm a deal.

Excellent point, and my view, accepting you cannot guarantee success, we should be doing better, or as some have pointed, give some of our youth a chance rather than waste money
Hail Hail
Cowiebhoy, i thought i,d give the back shift a go. Fully invigorated and in training for my next blow out.
Do you have any plans to install draft guinness btw. I could easily make your gaff my local:-)
Hail Hail bruv
Proven quality strikers cost way more than we are prepared to shell out.
We will grub around in the hope of unearthing another Henke.
Good strikers are very hard to find, especially when you are operating in a smaller market with less money and try to sell the SPL to him, our Euro travels and higher profile there hopefully will help us to attract a quality striker…
Mon the Striker..
There was Guinness there, you were to busy with the Italian stuff, and that other nectar, which left many struggling, although very happy
Will look at options for a follow up
Hail Hail
