  1. Never like losing particularly in this fixture but the team shows big improvement from last season particularly in defence with a new tough tackling edge to it. Juranovic, hardly put a foot wrong but you cannot oust Anthony Ralston who never gave an inch to danger man Kent who has caused us lots of problems in the past. Thought Joe Hart had a very influential match really belting out the orders organising our defence. Unfortunately we conceded another headed set-piece score.

The tough game on Thursday night undoubtedly took its tol on the players But A.P. now knows what changes need to be made. A fair number of Rangers players who didn’t make the long journey to foreign parts due to covid protocol were fresh coming into this match and it was obvious in the second half.

We can look forward with confidence when the return comes around in a packed Celtic Park.

  2. Thanks PHILBHOY, it was brilliant to meet yourself and all the other guys, CCB is just a star.

Your post is spot on, the love of the Celtic family cannot be understated.

It was lovely to meet your good lady, did you enjoy your meal?

    Brian

  3. I was surprised at our midfield, esp in the second half. It felt like the batteries were out.

I suspect and hope tbh that for Big AP), every days a school day.

    Our day will come.

  4. Snake Plissken on

Very frustrating not to get something out of that match. I do not rate that mob but they are too physical for Celtic’s wee guys and that told in the end.

It’s only August. There is a a season to go and 2 more days for transfers in and out.

I’d say Ange has an idea who wants to stay and who doesn’t.

Juranovic looks like a very good player. Kyogo was unlucky today but will provide more good moments than bad.

Abada needs to learn he cannot hide in these games. He is 19. He will learn and improve.

    Forrest and McCarthy’s experience missed.

if Celtic score in he first half, it is a different game. Eduoard has played like that since March of last year (the player he was at that time scores that chance) and if anyone meets the valuations, thanks for the memories and cheerio pal. Keeping him is an albatross round our neck. Any time he plays well he’s looking to get noticed for a bosman and when he is poor he isn’t interested.

Christie should be in the same place – sign a deal or leave on Tuesday please.

Griffiths is obviously too divisive and looks like a move to Dundee might be on the cards. Would be a good move for all involved I feel.

Giakoumakis and Scales in in the next few days is good but they need another centre half, a left winger and maybe even someone who can be relied on in the middle of the park to sit and hold to allow Calmac to play further forward and affect the game.

Talk of a Portuguese player coming in on loan (would still prefer us to sign Lovric from Croatia).

Maybe a signing and a loan or 2 in by close of business and Celtic have a real chance.

Angry and frustrated but not down hearted like last season.

  5. Strangely. No as disappointed as I should be. We played well enough, mostly. We didn’t take our chances. We conceded from a corner. No complaints about the ref.

Result was not reflective of the performance of the two teams. It was however, reflective of who put the ball in the net.

Much more to come from this team.

Thought the back four were great.

  6. Go tell the Spartim on

I’m looking thru our squad list and looking at who else could’ve played. We only have 4 experienced midfielders fit. No options up front.

As for Davy Provan, is this the same guy who needs complex prescription glasses to see but openly admitted on air he doesn’t wear them watching football? He’s a prick

I’m def a mineshafter though I wear tena for men (not mocking those afflicted and genuinely need to wear them) but the extent of some on here’s perception of things is surely worthy of a Darwin Award

  7. glendalystonsils on

The huns knew exactly what they were doing by withdrawing our ticket allocation on the flimsiest pretext .

Not quite up to the standard of some of their other cheating , but sleekit nonetheless . Every trick in the book to intimidate our new guys in particular , although it might explain the shaky performances of some of our more established players too .

I will be most annoyed if we do not return the compliment at CP .

  8. Hankray

Difficult to disagree with any of that.

Juranovic was superb and in a CQN context the Anthony detractors should be ashamed at the excellent resigning in June.

I agree too, with the slightly too early posters and Celtic will be an infinitely better side especially by the return fixture.

  9. BELMONTBRIAN

    Yes thank you!

Got into The Dhabba (Indian) just along the road from McChuills.

Food was lovely, though not sure a bottle of red was a good idea!

I can’t remember Paul’s blog name.(It’s an age thing with me) If he’s a friend of yours can you say hello from us. It was good to meet him too!

    Take care!

  10. lol,

    hiding in plain sight,

    whits the agenda ?

next up, contemtuos is the new obsession.

  11. As ever, thanks for letting me let off steam cqn. And for wise words/stabilising posts. That one hurt; the huns are dire, created nothing but our expectations have changed- tough season ahead.

  12. We are on the march with Anges army.

Good sugns plus some not so good, but compared to NFL shambles last season a big improvement.

    We will win the league.

    D :)

  13. BSR / PansBhoy…………..

    Agreed – a real Laugh-out-Loud(en moment………………..

I’m not as gutted as i might normally be following a hun game defeat………

I’m lovin’ LOVING……how Ange has us playing and feel brilliant about this season.

    We’ll get better…………

    HH

  14. Last time we beat them was league cup 2019 and it was obvious they are better fitter and more physical than us. They weren’t ruthless that day but now beat us whilst not playing well. The goal was coming and the changes even if made earlier would probably not have made any difference.

The board will not support Ange in the next 48 hours. The defence is woefully inept and we need 2 CHs and a LB as we always look like losing a couple against better teams. The biscuit tin mentality is back at Celtic Park and Lawwell has his old firm model ; his 5WA agreement ensured Sevco became Rangers and they got all their titles back incl the EBT ones. At the same time he looted 20 mil from the club and getting them back was a useful distraction for the masses. He thought TIAR was a shoe in but his arrogance cost the club.

At the same time as helping Rangers up his mismanagement, control freak behaviour and greed ran Celtic into the ground. How is this parasite still on the board still playing the stalling tactics on getting players in.

Without the proper players in Angeball will be over by November and he will be back in Oz for their summer. He will wonder why the Celtic Board is the biggest obstacle to success; most of them are nobodies and not fit for purpose.

Lawwell will be quite happy to see Ange fail just so it takes the focus of his ludicrous appointment of Lennon.

Lawwell should hand back the bulk of the 20 mil or give it to charity —- unfortunately his greed will not allow that.

    CELTIC40ME

Elliot did not play in front of 50,000 Liverpool fans. There was a huge Chelsea contingent.

On a day where the blog is full of strange goings on, this particular argument is certainly up there with the craziest

There were 50,000 Liverpool fans at Anfield yesterday, and 2 or 3000 Chelsea fans

Putting a childish argument about numbers to one side the point was that one teenager was making his debut at ibrox without a single Celtic supporter in the ground while another was playing in front of his own fans. Totally different environments

Why on earth would you make that comparison? It’s totally unfair against a young Celtic player

  16. Petec

Totally agree Re defence today. It was so much more assertive than previous. I didn’t see us losing from a set piece and was gutted to see it transpire after their only concerted period of pressure. It pisses me off to hear these ‘sound bite’ click bait former players come out with this basic analysis.

Boot on the other foot and the same game at our place and we would have won comfortably.

    Why ?

The energy exchange between fans and players provides another level of oxygen and creates another level of panic in the opposition.

For a first game at Ibrox and with no Celtic support this and 50,000 Huns it was a doomed but still brave effort.

We were a couple of bad options away from a win.

Worth remembering MoN lost his corker Ibrox visit despite having 8000 Tims in the Broomloan 5-1. Wim J did not fare well there either. Our man and his 8 Ibrox (with crowds) derby debutants will learn.

  17. Bournsouprecipe………..Young Ralston was superb and really had Kent’s measure cutting off one of their big previous threats.

  18. Cody

I agree on the subs being needed earlier.

As for the rest I think you have been reading a wee bit too much fiction and fantasy during lockdown.

Some very big and unfounded aspersions being cast there.

  19. We are much better than we were some months ago. However, we are not there yet.

We have played 4 league games, winning 2 and losing 2.

We have lost our last 2 games, scoring zero goals in the process.

I have read our defence described as ‘flawless’ and ‘excellent’ re these games.

We are in danger of slipping into the same denial which was all too present last season.

    Back the manager

  20. FFS , someone told JHB to go hing himself in a garage the other day , zero said by anyone, now we have a cple snowflakes moaning cos someone getting called nasty names !

  21. Knives out for Eddy?

Effectively 48 hours to go with a hurting Celtic support and no clear signs, other than memories and sitters of how this will go.

As others have posted another season of wantaway Odsonne may be too much to bear, but new striker should be signed if Celtic are serious IMO
