    On reflection I thought the back 4 had a good game. The much maligned Starfelt played well. Poor marking from the set piece aside.

     

     

    Huge over reaction on both side, the truth is it was 50 -50 with a set piece goal the difference

    At half time, I said I’d seen enough to think we’ll win the league. I still do. Far better than a lot of what we offered last season. Of course, I’m hoping we bring in some extra quality in the next two days (like Juranovic). Abada not involved a lot but he hardly got played in. Biggest problem was our midfield weren’t as good in second half. No runner picked up their goalscorer. I hope we sell Eddie and use the money we’ll. I think we created more than them today? A bit of physicality and aerial ability would help. Thought Starfelt was very good.

    A few days back P67 spoke about playing Kyogo in the middle and Eddie out on the left. It’s a shame Ange or Kennedy appear not to read this blog.

     

     

    I strongly suspect we’ll not see Kyogo playing wide again this season. It was a mistake which Ange held his hands up to, so we move on.

     

     

    I also thought Ange was not too subtle in his post match comments, he wants Eddie out and no doubt has his eyes on a replacement.

    Indeed , Shant prolong it, we had no signed RB at the club, but they weighed in with ‘downsizing sh8te’ amid due Celtic diligence, he turned up in Govan prior to Lennowtown. NL to his eternal discredit went walk about and signed JohnJo and overlooked a better player, ho hum.

    You and I didn’t always see eye to eye but I have to say you are bang on about Starfelt. He had his best game today for me. He was important on Thursday in getting it over the line and some people are pushing this line about him being bad or making a few mistakes in a few games so he is bad forever. I have seen him improve and think he will benefit from bedding in time.

     

     

    Ralston has improved.

     

    Juranovic looks class.

     

    Young Welsh has improved but would like another CB in there for cover and to allow rotation in a difficult run of games on all fronts.

    If Kyogo is to be played through the middle which I wholeheartedly agree with.

     

     

    Do we need the Greek boy in? Can’t see him playing left.

     

     

    Backup maybe, or plan B.

     

     

    Eduoard doesn’t work in this system, through the middle or on the left. He needs to go. Not sure Ajeti fits in either even if he gains confidence.

     

     

    Talk of Lovric seems to have disappeared. Jota links seem strong. I guess we also have Dembele, Johnston and Moffat.

     

     

    Said before and I feel bad for saying it but don’t think Soro is good enough on the ball either yet we need a more defensively minded central midfielder. McCarthy might be the idea there but I’m not sure…

     

     

    A top drawer experienced centre half on loan from the top of the EPL could be a big last minute signing and transform the course of the season but there doesn’t appear to be any rumours hitting of any defenders.

    I went back and read all the comments on the last blog. Without naming names, there were numerous, “4-1 to the good guys,” “ We’ll win by 2 clear goals,” “Supremely confident we will win,” etc. etc. type of posts.

     

     

    Everyone is entitled to their view on the blog, but I was astounded of forehead at the huge level of optimism. We have posters who believe we will be in the Final of the Euro Conference, and will easily dismiss Betis next month!

     

     

    We have a huge squad, but paper thin where it counts. We still don’t have a dominant, imperious in the air center half, or a left winger. Our midfield is soft as mince. We have lost our last 4 away games. We failed to score against a Zombie team who lost 2 goals to Ross County. We still can’t defend set pieces. We are barely sixth in the league, and yes, I know it is August, but 6 points thrown away in August count the same as 6 next April.

     

     

    Ange says he doesn’t want players who don’t want to play for Celtic. Yet he plays Edouard and Christie. Why? Because he has no choice. He has no one else! Lightweights Johnson and Dembele would have done nothing, even if available. Forrest has never excelled at the Bigotdome. Some are basing future hope on a slow as molasses, injury prone McCarthy. If he plays against Betis or Leverkusen, who I watched yesterday, they will bypass him as if he were a lamppost.

     

     

    Yes, we have filled some holes, but several critical gaps remain, with 2 short days to rectify this. I have seen nothing to convince me we will not have the same outcome on January 2. Ange has vastly improved on the shambles he inherited, but that it has taken this long to do so since the huge danger signs of the Big Fraser inspired League Cup win in 2019 is indicative of the utter negligence and complacency of the Board and previous CEO. ( Sorry SAINTSTIVS, I know you don’t agree with me on this😊 ).

    Thought Starfelt had Roofe in his pocket today. Welsh likewise marshalled Morelos very well – ( Clancy gave Morelos some very soft free kicks throughout the game), we’ve made good progress from the defensive shambles we were last season.

     

     

    Jullien to come back, a new striker & Left sided mid look to be on their way tomorrow. Sell Eddie and possibly a couple more faces to come in.

     

     

    Vital now we go again and make sure we’re within range come a 60k green and white sell out for the new year derby.

    I should’ve said we scored 1 goal as we lost these 2 games.

    I now await the political condemnation after what looked like a quazi-paramilitary march through Glasgow city centre with, needless to say, anti Irish racism on full display. Not sure how that fits with their vaunted “Anytime Orratime” campaign.

     

     

    Also looks like the police are ignoring the illegal racist hate songs which are being sung with great gusto.

    We had several great chances to score today and took none of then. Sevco had less good chances but took one of theirs.

     

     

    Hart did well enough and looks assured.

     

     

    Both our centrebacks done well enough.

     

     

    Both fullbacks done well enough defensively but neither done enough in the final third. I know there is a ralston love in the now, but his final balls just let’s him down.

     

     

    Turnbull disappears a lot and christie for all his running is not strong enough in the middle against good teams and not pacey enough to play wide against good teams. Calmac is always showing but could do with a little more knowhow in beside him.

     

     

    Abada is young and his form fluctuates, today was not great, but he has time on his hand and the basic skillset needed to succeed.

     

     

    Kayogo suffered from the lack of support wide left, he is a give and go type players not a traditional winger. Inside he looked very dangerous but 20 minutes up top was not enough.

     

     

    Eduard can get a taxi for all I care. He was such a great player for us and I will remember the peek eduard fondly.

     

     

    Jullian and mccarthy, will add more in their respective areas and forrest will also add when fully fit.

     

     

    Scales may be the leftback we need but who knows if and how long it will take him to step.

     

     

    At the bare minimum we need a leftback, leftwinger and forward before the transfer window ends.

     

     

    Nothing is won or lost today but failure to get the above issues sorted will be costly over the course of this season.
