Read ‘em and weep!

There is always a frisson of excitement when the new season’s fixtures are announced but there is an extra spring in the step today.  Flag-day for the champions will be the weekend of 4/5 August against Aberdeen but I’m sure, like me, your eye ran down the list, rhyming off the names: Aberdeen, United, Ross County, Inverness, Hibs, St Johnstone, Club 12!

You had a smile to yourself, didn’t you?

SPL secretary, Iain Blair, explains, “Following the failure of Rangers FC to exit administration via a CVA, we have received an application to register the transfer of their SPL share to a newco. Should it be rejected, then another club may be invited to join the SPL for season 2012/13.”

That pretty much covers it, Iain, Rangers FC’s share will pass to either Newco or another club may be invited to join. Simple enough language to explain where we are.

As recently as a week ago I was pretty sure the fixtures would contain Newco but sentiment has been flowing against the concept since Charles Green took the SFA to court, inadvertently inviting a severe punishment from the Association as well as annoying SPL chairmen.

The BBC SPL table is also worth a cursory glance, resplendent with only One Team in Glasgow!

  1. I assume the second word in Charlie’s response will be …. off!

If all they can come up with is £6m then they are not real players but another version on the Blue Nighties who want to say ‘look we tried but..’. If they had really wanted to step in then Thursday morning was the time.

Come to think of it what decent shyster is going to accept a mere 1/2 mill profit (probably not even that with associated costs to date). If I was Charlie boy I would be saying ‘if you really, really want it shows your £20m or at least £15m and the cardigans EBT’.

In fact I am beginning to warm to our Charlie reminds me a bit of our old chum Craigie boy and I could see him really get up the noses of the orcs and inflict even more damage (not sure what more you can do to a corpse) on them.

In fact I am also warming to the name Club 12 has a bit of gravitas about it! Much better than servco, newco, Seb Co or whatever they are calling themselves this week.

I’d also say that if we do end up without a newco in the SPL it will largely have been due to the stance taken by fans of the other clubs (and in spite of the stance taken by Celtic fans) in relation to renewing season books.

Which is a shameful and disgraceful state of affairs.

    ……………

Ernie I agree with the point you’re making but I’d say CFC are fully aware of the supports feeling re newco.

The Celtic supporters who renewed do not want Celtic punished any more than they already have for the cheating rfc(il).

I would like to think CFC serve a notice to quit if the newco are allowed in, they have my ST even if it’s only to watch friendlies for a season until we join another league.

As I’ve said before, if the newco lot are in I’m finished with it if CFC don’t tell them to stuff it.

CFC have stayed quiet on this, there is more damage being done to them by their own, we’re playing the game and no need to show our hand, our ST’s sales ensure that the club can stay their hand.

    All my opinion.

Maybe you’re not hearing too much protest because you’re an ‘exiled Tim’. A Motherwell director has a letter in The Herald today and he doesn’t want them. I don’t know why you’re putting up so many posts saying it’s more or less certain that they’ll be in SPL next season. I don’t think they have a snowball#s chance in Hell of being in the SPL next season. The attitude of other club’s has hardened considerably over the last few weeks.

The Motherwell director talked of their bullying and intimidation and lack of remorse.

Come on now ernie, I understand your frustration and I can comprehend your anger at the possibilities that this set of fixtures throws up, but let’s get some perspective here.

You’re treading the ol ground where you referred to Celtic supporters as a ‘joke’ following a ‘joke’ club. Now I have no desire to fall out with you or indeed any Celtic supporter who elects not to renew.

However, to refer to Celtic supporter’s actions of renewing season tickets goes too far yet again.

Yes you’re angry and frustrated but so are we all. Let’s just see how this plays out but in the interim allow other supporters to be guided by their own conscience and feelings.

Yes, but it already holds a share so how do you take that away? I look at the SPL share as a 1/12th shareholding in the company rather than any kind of licensing arrangement, so unless there are rules (such as relegation) for stripping a share from a club then you can’t just take it off them.

    It’s like the Craig Whyte situation;

SFA – “You’re not fit and proper to own that football club.”

CW – “Well I do own it.”

    SFA – “Eh”

look at last sentence as follows.

“sr/ws. meeting asap re dem.(potential start late jul/early aug-dm confirm detail)”

Demolition of such a grade b listed structure or part of any adjoining building would require planning permission along with application to historic scotland. The timeframe for this normally 3months from submission of the application to grant of permission, now as this is a erm a “sensitive” building then there would be more than a few objections to this proposal which would delay the process even further.

An application such as this could take a year or more to make its way through the planning process.
