Reports of Roberts loan to Celtic denied

509

Celtic have NOT agreed a deal to take Patrick Roberts on loan next season.  Sources within the club expressed surprise at reports claiming as much. The club have been working with Manchester City and the player for some months, in an attempt to secure the services of the England youth international.

A loan deal is only one of the options being discussed.  But while Celtic look the most likely destination for Patrick, there is still work to be done.

Celtic, who will soon be able to offer guaranteed Champions League football to prospective players, are active in a number fronts.

I’m confused. And it’s not just down to my medication.

MSM including BBC say Paddy coming on a year loan.

CQN says Celtic have NOT agreed a LOAN deal.

So it begs a number of questions which I suppose have been covered previously.

Do we have a deal in principle but the Ts need dotted and the Is need crossed? Yeah I know.

Or have we dug in our heels and insisted on a permanent deal with complex T&Cs which City and ourselves are pondering?

Is there a game of chicken where Paddy is insisting he won’t go anywhere but Celtic Park and City and Celtic are trying to work out an accommodation?

Does Paddy have a seat beside Tierney on the Astana flight on Sunday?

Is any deal, loan or permanent dependent on the CL draw?

Are City insisting Paddy can’t play if we are drawn together?

No wonder I can’t sleep nights.

I also know two people who post on Cqn in my workplace, I know plenty of friends & family who attend Celtic Park and think Cqn is full of old farts posting about fish…ah mean pish :-)

Cqn is brilliant but it’s as far from the normal Celtic support as many other “social media sites” :-)

  4. Don’t even think about it.

Celtic – Glasgow Celtic. Juve got the helping Hand. Scum.

Hibs Sekonda. Where will Celtic end up?

Gobble Gobble Bhoy- do you ever take a minute of, to just let other Celtic fans have an opinion?go play darts or walk your big dog

Oh,I am really sooooo upset.I hate being the victim of someone with a Rapier like wit.

By the way,its “Off”,a full stop after “Opinion”.A capital “G”in go.a full stop after “Dog”.

Illiteracy is such a cruel burden to carry around nowadays.Never mind, keep banging away. You know the saying,

Any news on a centre half and a centre forward too? I’d also like a full back.

    And Paddy

    I want them all now.

    …………………………………

They’ve done a lot worse than hiring poor Ronny Deila who won the League despite them taking

‘a punt’ on him being a messiah cos they knew there was no real Rainjurs, and therefore

    no unlevel contest.

Local politics such as TGB and add ons, are a much bigger board issue IMHO and we’re yet to see the evidence of any ‘balance’ regarding the biggest story in Scottish Football where we were shafted over 11 years ( that we know of )

Personnel wise they played a blinder on a blinding midfielder in Stuart Armstrong and have protected an asset all of this year, and all of the next.

  8. INVINCIBLE 'GG on

It seems like we don’t have any concerns about tomorrow’s visit to Rugby Park?

Can we leap frog St Johnstone?

Or hold off Hibs and Aberdeen?

Will Leigh be rested or just appear in a foam suit?

    Will Stuart get a start?

    Will Brendan play some youngsters?

Who’s the Mason in the middle?

Will any of the Killie team be able to sleep tonight?

Will Gordon have a new crossword book to help pass the 90 minutes?

Will Pedro gush WATP at full time?

  9. Celtic have a good working relationship with Manchester City, one which has given us Boyata, Roberts, Denayer and now Ntcham. Reading between the lines from Paul’s article today, it’s clear Celtic don’t want to damage that relationship in any way or be seen to have jumped the gun so to speak. In essence we are getting one player a year from them so Paddy is only one part of that supply chain albeit an exciting one. Everyone and their dog knows Celtic want to bring Paddy back. We are told via the MSM (yes them) that Paddy wants to come back. However, it will come down to what Man City want to do with the player. They will easily be able to set Paddy up somewhere in Europe where he will play regularly at a higher level than in Scotland. I believe City will think Paddy has done his stint up here and needs to kick on somewhere else. Having just nicked Ntcham off them for a small fee we need to be very delicate in how we go about this deal. It remains to be seen if the will of the player will win the day. I think it’s likely Paddy will return but it’s far from certain and probably not imminent.

After my big win on Hibs last weekend, I will put a bet on Hertz to win and a bet for the draw at doomdome tomorrow.

Bookies won’t give me a bet on the Portuguese bullshitter mentioning watp tomorrow. ;))

  12. In my view tomorrow will be a difficult match and one where we could drop points. We will make changes, how many i don’t know but i hope we go with Griffiths up top. If we don’t it will give the opposition a lift. I always worry when Jozo doesn’t play as he probably wont tomorrow. It’s looking like it will be a wet and windy day on a plastic pitch. It could be tricky. Hunnery and Mibbery abound. No messing please Celtic.

  14. HT- i agree that a lot if Celtic supporters believe CQN is pish and full of farts but after years of getting ‘news’ from other Celtic sites. This one still resonates with me better.

GB guy in work calls me ‘Laptop Lawwell’ but it’s not near the truth, just lazy/easy reference on his part.

To my point. Just because someone does not attend home & away that should NOT make their opinions less valid than those who do. Their viewpoint can be looked at, discussed, rationalised the same as anyone elses.

We have all been guilty in the past of taking the nip at certain posters but should be big enough to admit our own failings and move on with civility.

Not having a nip at you HT, just a general thought on CQN and how it is viewed by others and those who choose to use it.

Circles sir. My first post praised the manner in which Celtic have conducted themselves on both the PR and SA transfer issues.

Some how that’s been turned around.

I’m seeking middle ground and an element of perspective, it’s the best for Celtic and the support.

One common thread – love Celtic!
