Rest precious limbs at Tannadice

608

Tomorrow is match day 5 of a 38 game Scottish Premiership league programme, and although there’s a possibility we may find ourselves five points adrift, the result from Tannadice will have absolutely no bearing on our season.

Celtic must weigh up the needs of squad fitness for the next four days, concluding with the visit to Malmo on Tuesday. We have some precious limbs attached to Virgil, Scott, Stefan (J) and most of all, Sugar Ray Griffiths. I strongly recommend all are rested tomorrow. The consequences of any of these players being injured for Tuesday is not worth contemplating.

It was considerably reassuring that Qarabag, who Celtic eliminated in the last round of the Champions League, won away at Young Boys of Berne last night. Any team winning in Switzerland have earned respect.

It was just as reassuring that Malmo’s last round opponents, Salzburg, went down 2-0 to Dinamo in Minsk. It’s difficult to determine comparative strengths this early in the season, but some people may have overestimated Salzburg and underestimated Qarabag,

We’ll find out on Tuesday.

Well done to all concerned with the Jock Stein Charity Match, which takes place on Sunday, 6 September, at East End Park, Dunfermline, in aid of Celtic Foundation and Pars’ Foundation. Alan Stubbs, who will be wearing the hoops one more time, said, “The thing about Celtic is that it’s a fantastic club, both when you’re there and when you’re not, and that’s a testament to the fans”.

Best of luck for the season, Alan.

British Champion boxer and Celtic fan, Scotty Cardle, is also playing, as is X-Men star, James McAvoy. Details here.

Kev spot on with macca being on the end of it, thought it was him or walker, the pass to Morris always stuck in my head as much as the goal

    Hail Hail

  3. In 1965 Jock Stein inherited a team of under performing Scots, bought in a few more Scots, and they want on to become the club champions of Europe in two years in their second full season. Can Ronny emulate them?

  4. This morning I am preparing to go to the Requium mass of Elizabeth “Betty” Haney to say goodbye,

Betty never married and devoted her life to the love and care of her parents ,family and others.

On the passing of her Da “neilly” not only did she keep his season ticket going but bought Two new ones for her beloved Nephews and was always seen sitting just in front of the “Green Brigade” with the bhoys now young men.

She just loved The Celtic and her family.

As families do we didnt see one another as often as we should have but I always loved bumping into her at the fitba and elsewhere .

So today can you please spare a wee thought for “Betty” as we say our goodbyes.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord,

and let perpetual light shine upon her.

    May she rest in peace.

    Hail Hail “Betty”

  11. Rogic ,Allan,Janko,Tierney, thats it.Enough changes for today. Some seeming to forget that winning the league is as important as Tuesday night.Without the league we dont have these nights. If we were to lose, and then lose at Pittodrie,we could very well lose the league. How many games do Barca rest Messi?.How important to that team is he?.We have only played a handful of meaningful games yet calls to rest some players.

Thank God RD will have learned lessons from last year.As strong a team as is prudent please.

  19. Today is my parents 60th wedding anniversary.

Like all couples they have had their ups and downs.

It is a great day for the family, although tinged with sadness as it was on their 58th anniversary my Da lost the last of his side of the family. His brother Mick who was also his best friend and the most fanatical tim you could ever meet.

My wee Ma god bless her is also the only survivor of her side and both of them feel a great burden that they are still here while their brothers and sisters were taken from us.

My Da nevertheless takes great comfort in the fact that his sons and daughters have given them many grandchildren and great- grand children who all support the greatest club in the world the Magnificent GLASGOW CELTIC.

And so the baton is handed on to the next generations as it is with all of the CQN bloggers and their families.

Keep the faith and god bless you all.

We have to be positive today UTD. are not the team they were 12 months ago the hammering at Hamilton confirmed that.I have no idea the team Ronny will play today but the 3 points are very important and also a win keeps confidence high before the Malmo game.Football is a funny old game as Greavsie used to say after the Malmo game I thought we had blown it but im begining to feel a little more positive that we can get a result over there. H.H.
