Rhetorical magic from old Lumley-troubler

1149

Old Lumley-troubled used a classic rhetorical technique yesterday. Give your target audience lots of points to consider which you know they will agree with; build empathy, get heads nodding, fists banging on tables, then slip in the line you are trying to sell. As a piece of prose, you have to respect the statement. This guy, or his writer, has not only read the Greeks, he’s understood their importance.

If Sir David is right, Rangers issued no side contracts, all non-discretionary payments to players in connection to football were registered, if the redacted contract which appeared in The Sun in March was a piece of fiction, if the prima facie evidence presented by Duff and Phelps was an error, he and his soon to be liquidated former club have nothing to worry about.

  1. The best thing about The Rangers being in div 3 is that I don’t need to fret about if they win or not as it has no bearing whatsoever on our league challenge, no more anxious listening to the radio praying they will drop points, didnt have to listen to the microphone sycophancy or stadium bile last night and feel much fresher for it this morning.

Couldn’t give a monkeys if they go through div 3 with a 100% record either.

I always say to him to learn how to work the internet and read real Celtic news from here, not from some two bit paper that’s had It’s day, the sooner It and all the rest go the better.

I know where you’re coming from but I get as much pleasure from them losing as I get from us winning, so whatever division they’re in doesn’t matter to me.

I listened on my way home from work and the highlight was Chico interviewing Charlie Bhoy:

Chico – Are you serious that the crowd was only 38000 ?

Charlie – No it was more, don’t forget we have a Fox !

Chico – Aye! Working on your turnstiles !

The Govan Galacticos seem to be applying the same voodoo economics to their attempt to win Div3 [payin’ over the odds for 2nd rate footballers] as they did when ole DM was in charge.

    It’ll all end in tears.

I agree with you entirely. Public finances are a mess. For a football club to finagle its way out of contributing £100 million + to them and try to carry on regardless is nauseating.

They are like a client in a restaurant that runs up a big bill, eats the chocolate mint that comes on the wee saucer with the check and then swaggers out without paying, before coming back to the same establishment the next night all smiles and back-slaps for the owners and asking for their favourite table and wee aperitif on the house.

They are at odds with the truth of things.

I agree that and feel It will help us In Europe this season, we can drop players before and after European nights which means the bigber players are fresher for the challenge, It also means we can play some of our outstanding youth players and give them game time this season so maybe they will then go onto being next seasons big players for euro nights and then this get’s the ball rolling season after with our youth system, by doing this It also makes us more attractive to up and coming youth players out there In deciding where to play and who will give them the better chance In there careers, I dont mind the thought of Ki, Wanyama etc being sold whenever as long as we get the right price for them and not selling ourselves short, If we say Wanyamas worth 12million then that’s the marker for teams to pay and not a penny less. Teams like Ajax, Benfica and that do this every season and do ok so we need to be at there level.

Also while I’m posting, I have have a question for our legal eagles, What with the sevconians saying there the same old bigots that poluted the world before but seem to have walked away from paying there debts. What’s to stop me going to a creditor of old Huns and buying there debt and then taking Sevco to court for this money as there claiming to be the same old club? Could this be done and If It could be then surely my case would have a good chance of success??

I spoke to one of them at a christening on Sunday. I deliberately left out the Sevco subject. To my surprise he brought it up. He launched into a tirade against SDM. Well that was me up for a debate so I asked about his fellow supporters’ views on who they held responsible, and to be fair he didnt shirk the question. He said that 80% blamed Murray and the rest Whyte. I asked about the msm’s role in all this. He looked at me as if confused saying, ‘what have they got to do with it?’. I reminded him that certain blogs were warning RFC about what was going down, a full six months before the msm decided to speak about it, for example the fact that Whyte’s business record could be googled in 10 minutes, and that the dogs in the street knew about him before the Rangers support. He knew i was right and finished off by telling me that SDM must be jailed.

Funny how the Lumley stalker never gets the real stick he deserves for his part in Britain’s biggest ever sports scandal. His poodles are still on the leash.

It’s not just you, I’ve had the same problem but I learned from other CQNers that if you log in, the problem rights itself. And it does. However, I’ve just switched on and was able to scroll on down page 17 without logging in so perhaps whatever problem it was that necessitated us all logging in in order to function properly, has now been resolved.

On another point, does anyone know of a site yet on which we might see the game tonight?

Just thinking, surely Sevco are acting against the Trade Descriptions Act,(if it still exists) they are promoting the fact that they have won x amount of titles and cups when we all know that they have won nothing .Is it not illegal to advertise a deliberate falsehood for money.

I mean, how can you win First Div. and SPL titles when you have never been in any League before 2012.

Re my post @ 6.43. Just had a lovely conversation with citizens advice. It is a Criminal Act to falsely advertise, they also said it is nonsense to pretend that they have carried the history with them. They are informing Trading Standards about my complaint and will be in touch. If the information i have given them is correct then they will have to take action.

Sevco should not be advertising on their tickets and programmes any titles or cups won, simple.

You cant win it if you are Not in it.

  21. Good morning from a bright and sunny Sweden.

I have my concerns about tonights game. When im over here I watch the local team Atviraberg, who also play on an artificial surface. Since having it installed they have risen from the second div to 7th in the first. It definitely gives the home team an advantage.

That coupled with our sluggish start means we will have to play very well to progress. I think we will but don’t expect it.

I think its time to chill a bit as regards to the huns claiming unbroken history etc. We can never realy expect them to accept the fact openly, and especially to us.

They know for sure that they are a new company and the fact they kick and scream about it being the same this or that just emphasises their extreme hurt and desperation. They know alright and its kills them inside to know that we revel in it. Its up there with Lisbon in my book. They would feel better not beating themselves up about it and just getting over it. Other clubs’ fans have coped and I’m sure they can. Then again, they never did get over Lisbon did they?…;-)

  26. traditionalist88 – I think what will probably happen there, Trading Standards will ask newco who will say “Yes, these titles are ours, ask the SFA”.

They’ll then ask the SFA “Did you award these titles/trophies etc to this sporting institution?” and, well, you know the rest.
