Rogic endorsement of direction of travel

Tom Rogic is good.  Very good.  He has scored cup winning goals, league winning goals, scored against Newco at three different venues, and most deliciously, has scored Champions League qualification goals.  That old football adage, “Yes, but can he do it when it really matters?”, is never asked about Tom.

With one year left on his existing Celtic contract, he is off with Australia to the World Cup, the most prominent shop window in the game, where good players with a one-year balance on their contracts are a premium.

The news that he signed a five-year contract yesterday has surprised many, including me.  One week ago today, when I asked a ‘senior source at Celtic’ the prospects or retaining his services, I was not encouraged.  “The money on offer in England……..”

This deal is an endorsement of the direction the club is heading from within the dressing room.  Players know where the club is going, Tom knows.  That’s why he has signed.  I am sure his contract reflects his ability, but I am also sure he could have earned more elsewhere.  And five years!!  That’s nearly a Jim McLean!

Good luck tomorrow, Tom, let’s have a repeat of last season’s Cup Final.

    Today is amuch more important game than the bare facts tell.     Ah! Cup Final Day.The memories! 65 was my first.The tension then relief was unbearable. 66 – how did we lose that one? 67 was easy. 70 -my first awareness of being cheated. 71 -never felt threatened. 72 -convincing.73 – a great game either side could have won. 74 -men v boys. 75 -Big Billy”s Farewell 77 -Wet but happy.80 -embarrassed at the aftermath. (missed 69).

    Soon be off to Perth CSC in Western Australia to cheer on the Bhoys.Hope we all have a great day. HH.

    Domestically we seem to be able to rise to the occasion on demand this season.Our goals ratio against our nearest challengers ( Aberdeen,sevco ) allude to that . Granted there are other factors involved- how the opposition set up etc , that might effect the goal count. Regardless we seem to be more up for the bigger occasions.

     

     

    Quietly confident because unfortunately there’s always the chance of mibbery to guard against.

     

     

    Hopefully any efforts by officialdom are fruitless and we blow them away .

    Guys I asked a question the other day, and don’t know if anyone answered it.

     

    It was that this is our 61st game today of a long season, have we played so many games before in a season, my suspicions are we have, still a long campaign nonetheless.

    Just spoke to him. He agrees Mullen’s MAY have it, but says they don’t usually open till 5, though that may not be the case today, but he recommended she jumps a taxi to Luz to Kelly’s where it most definitely will be on. And they sell Guinness!!
