Rogic’s next contract

929

Tom Rogic is well within his rights to take time to consider his next contract.  He is thriving at Celtic, but with a year left on his current deal, the future is open.  Front and centre of his mind, of all players’ minds, will be the dirty little subject.  The money paid to lesser talents than Tom in England is incredible, Tom is well within his rights to ponder his position in the food chain.

Then there is his place in the Celtic squad.  Brendan Rodgers is continually looking to improve the team.  It doesn’t matter who you are, you cannot be sure of a place well into the future.

There are also reasons to consider why Celtic might be a good fit for him.  He is not the archetypal English Premier League player, all physique and running.  Tom is a throwback to not so long ago when craft on the ball got you into the team, not the ability to burst a lung for 90 minutes.  All too often, he’s a 60 minute star.

Evidence is everywhere that he is a big game player and proven match winner, but he is not going to temp a title chasing team from England, instead it would be the bottom half battlers who are most likely to be interested in him.  He’s not a natural fit.  Better to stay with the champions.

Fair play to him, when he first was on the telly he had a pull out of the original Huns on his wall…. like the Sevco he likes to wrestle with the truth

I was fortunate enough to meet your parents at a do,and wonderful they were. That’s enough for me to have them in my mind when I’m being self-centred and having a wee conversation upstairs.

For all the fact that we criticise this site now when it deserves it,I often think it reinforces the power of prayer. It certainly has the power to make you realise how lucky you are.

Please give them my best wishes.

AFAIK,buying a ticket for the games doesn’t count until it is activated at the turnstile on match day. So there’s no get-out clause for the club on this. They sold a max of 18,255 tickets to people who flashed their ticket at the turnstile and attended every previous game, and those 18,255 people should have been mailed and offered, say, three days to take up an offer.

Everyone who has abided by the rules only to discover that actually, tough, they don’t apply, has a right to be totally pissed off by this shambles.

  14. The Good Ship Celtica on

    Bobby,

The criteria was paid for tickets. Unfortunately the demand for this tie is higher than the supply. All of the tickets were sold and they were taken up by people who have season tickets and buy tickets for the club’s home ties.

People were always going to miss out regardless of whatever system was put in place.

  17. My friends in Celtic,

Interesting articles about how the young generation in Europe are turning away from Christianity. This is also true for the UK , Scotland and Ireland.

The decline is fast and worrying with the trends showing irreversible decline. The consequences for us should be; that the CQN of 2067 should be celebrating 56 in a row with no talk of Catholic or Protestant graveyards which have been consigned to history. It is maybe inconceivable at present but inter faith Christian bigotry will die out; in football and beyond.

The next generation and the generation after will be increasingly secularist. Very few of us currently on CQN will be around to witness this but it is inevitable.

However one thing is also sure as we plug into the transporter and beam into Celtic Park from our new futuristic hotel ; the shout will still be COYBIG.

HH to all, and especially to those who are combating illness.

BT – got our palms last night (well, was at the mass, but the palms at the back of the chapel had run out by the time we had finished by the time we got out!!) Remember – long Gospel today – the Passion of Christ – take a piece with you :-) Our priest (Father Trench) unveiled a beautiful large stained glass image of Jesus on the cross – donated to St David’s by Father Lamb in memory of his mum and dad, who both passed away in the recent past, as you’ll know. Our family lived two doors down from the Lambs for the best part of 45 years – we were all brought up playing together. Brian was known as Father Lamb even when he was at school :-))))

Thinking of your dad and mum, and you and your wider family – God bless.

Also always thinking of DD and everyone else with mental health issues. That needs to be kept out in the open – just talking about it helps!!!

I went to ire v scotland many many moons ago in Lansdowne road – think Scotland won 1 nil or maybe a draw – there was a lot of tension- huns in kilts were chucking coins at us and some Irish fans were going mental. It was loud, messy, a bit scary and my first glimpse of what ‘Scottish’ (if Scotland isn’t the most complicated state politically, my name’s Alphonsus) meant. All in all a great memory .

So what you are saying is that some (more that 7000 people at the very least) bought tickets for 3 games and didn’t actually go who now get a ticket in front of some people who actually went to support the team to get to this point?

Something not right about that frankly.

  32. For the first time ever I was asked to narrate the Passion at Mass today – a long shift when you can’t breathe properly and want to cough. The concelebrating priest congratulated me and said he only ever gets to do Jesus for some reason :-))

I am also convinced that we will win the league at Hamilton and I am determined to get a ticket despite my failed attempt yesterday with the Accies ticket office being closed. Now awaiting a reply to my email from said ticket office.

  33. For us to visit Hamilton on 8 April with a chance of winning the league, 3 things need to happen –

    (a) we need to win our next 2 home games against Ross County and Dundee – very likely

    (b) Aberdeen have to drop at least 4 points in the 3 games that they play up to 7th April – St Johnstone (H) then away trips to Motherwell and Hearts – so yes, that could happen too

    (c) Sevco have to drop at least 3 points in their 2 games before the split – away to Motherwell and home to Dundee. Can’t see then not winning against Neil McCann’s low flying Dundee. So would probably have to lose at Fir Park, again that could happen.

What seems absolutely certain to me is that we will win the league no later than the 1st game after the break which hopefully will be a home tie (won’t be Sevco, shouldn’t be Aberdeen or Hibs as we’ve played both twice at home, so maybe home to Kilmarnock or Hearts?. A Saturday lunchtime kick off on April 21st could kick off a day of celebration.

    Dumbhoy,

I’m saying whatever system was used people were going to be disappointed. The Morton game was in the middle of a really cold spell with people from far afield not willing to risk the travel. We then get into the territory of only people who live closer to the ground would have guaranteed tickets for high demand games. Is that fair on the fans who travel long distances to regularly attend CP? There’s always something that could be deemed unfair.

Overall, I feel satisfied that the people who got tickets for the semi final attend home games on a regular basis.
