Rogic’s next contract

929

Tom Rogic is well within his rights to take time to consider his next contract.  He is thriving at Celtic, but with a year left on his current deal, the future is open.  Front and centre of his mind, of all players’ minds, will be the dirty little subject.  The money paid to lesser talents than Tom in England is incredible, Tom is well within his rights to ponder his position in the food chain.

Then there is his place in the Celtic squad.  Brendan Rodgers is continually looking to improve the team.  It doesn’t matter who you are, you cannot be sure of a place well into the future.

There are also reasons to consider why Celtic might be a good fit for him.  He is not the archetypal English Premier League player, all physique and running.  Tom is a throwback to not so long ago when craft on the ball got you into the team, not the ability to burst a lung for 90 minutes.  All too often, he’s a 60 minute star.

Evidence is everywhere that he is a big game player and proven match winner, but he is not going to temp a title chasing team from England, instead it would be the bottom half battlers who are most likely to be interested in him.  He’s not a natural fit.  Better to stay with the champions.

  1. Will celtic ever learn, dont allow our better players to go into the final Year of their contract.

2 1/2 years start negotiation, if no agreement in place by 2 years halk them on to highest bidder and reinvest.

Only players that should see contract run down are those who are very young, those that have no real revalue and the older bhoys.

First thing on agenda Monday morning sit ajer down and tie him down to a 5 Year deal.

Tell rogic, amstrong, boyata and Christie to sign on or move on

  2. I can’t remember the exact dates but there was a piece to camera of the Kat and The Big Wig in sith effrica pre World Cup (and by that time it was well-known he was offski) – he was wearing both the clobber and expression of a Glasgow Fair holidaymaker jetting off to Benidorm………………

    BBC Sport Scotland at Hampden

The crowd will be a disappointment to Alex McLeish in his first match back in charge. Perhaps some are trying to get through traffic or purchase tickets outside.

    Hail Hail

  6. Just watched the pre-match of the France game. la Marseillaise does more for me than does Flower of Scotland !

I loved Scotland when I was about five and gave enthusiastic support whilst living in England for many years. Since returning to Scotland 11 years ago,I find the Nationalistic fervour more of an angry outpouring than an enthusiastic and happy support of the team. That, along with the obvious `failings` of the SFA have led to a complete switch off of support for the National team on my behalf.

If we add in the fact that the top Club sides are actually better than the National sides, then my interest in International football sinks to almost zero.

    Right. Back to the snooker.

International Football is now a 3rd rate Champions League spectacle without club allegiance.

  14. 3rd rate coach.

    Picks 3rd rate team.

    Uses 3rd rate tactics.
