Ronny’s Aberdeen-Salzburg dilemma

1430

Before the second leg against Maribor I went into detail about how important it was for Ronny Deila to rest his players.  He did, we lost to Inverness and players spent the bulk the Maribor game looking like strangers.

Since then players’ propensity to look strangers has increased, with the arrival of Stefan Scepovic, John Guidetti and Wakaso Mubarak, not to mention the anticipated return of Aleks Tonev.  Ronny has some serious decisions to make.

Does he flood the team with all this new blood, or allow them time to build match fitness and familiarity?  New blood is badly needed but so is team cohesion.

Any decision for Aberdeen will be made with the visit to Salzburg one week today in mind.  On paper, away to the top seed is our most difficult Europa League game, so we have to be ready.

My expectation is that three, if not all four, of the above will feature heavily on Saturday, which will inform Ronny ahead of his choices for Europe.

Fancy some comfy seats at the Aberdeen game and helping Mary’s Meals as well?  The Club’s main sponsor Magners have again offered us two premium seat tickets for the Jock Stein Stand, which you can win by answering the following question:

Who do Celtic play in the lunchtime kick off on Saturday, 13 September 2014?

Optionally….. if you have £1 available, please donate £1 to Mary’s Meals at this MyDonate page, which sends your £1 straight to Mary’s Meals, then send me your confirmation email, with your contact details to celticquicknews@gmail.com  Competition closes noon on Friday, so get your entries in now and watch your inbox on Friday afternoon.

You can donate more than £1, if you like, but £1 from as many people as possible will be gratefully received, as, like many organisations working in Africa right now, they are encountering a wave of additional ebola-related challenges.

Thanks for helping.

Terms and Conditions of the competition apply and are available here.

Maybe more than one pupil was asked to move Ernie.

As I mentioned last night I think this is more disappointing for the kids themselves than some insidious plot to hide the true numbers of one side or the other. It’s not like the different areas were lit differently and neither we pupils actually asked to vote against their preference. If you were a kid going to the event though, and excited about having your opinion counted I can see that it would be upsetting.

The main flaw is actually dividing them up in the first place, they should have just had them sit in random blocks allocated to their schools.

No big deal. I imagine that there are forty Scottish Labour MPs secretly doing the same.

Excuse me Herr Ubergruppenfuhrer but we Scots have decided we would like to leave the Third Reich and demand a referendum.

I’m not a big fan of GG, not strictly true, I love GG’s in game commentary on CQN.

Political correctness really has went off the scale if GG is being called the things he is being called.

I actually watched most of the debate (a first actuall) last night and the only thing that got me thinking was why GG was wearing a hat indoors.

Ernie I don’t know who asked Niamh but someone with a pass on did. Yes she did tell them to piss off.

It could be that it was a nobody or a somebody as according to my wife there was a lot of people with passes on but not easy to discern what exactly their position was.

  14. ernie lynch – I think I’m still banned from Blair Drummond safari park due to some unpleasantness with a peacock and a half eaten Mars bar I threw at it.

    Frank Ryan’s Whiskey,

Imo, Salmond and MacKaskill and their whole Holyrood caboodle have employed a policy of appeasement to the sectarian hordes, since they achieved power. Why? Maybe they share the same beliefs (witness MacKaskill’s delight at their singalong at Hampden). Maybe they feel their numbers merit targetting as votes. Maybe they, like the SFA, feel if the sectarian hordes are not appeased there might be social unrest.

[left angled bracket(shift+comma)] a href=”your link here” [right angle bracket(shift+full stop)] What you want your link to be called [left angled bracket(shift+comma)] /a [right angle bracket(shift+full stop)]

I won’t be withdrawing (no pun intended) last night’s comments about Galloway being a rape apologist. If he wanted to defend Assange fine, if he wanted to say he was set-up fine with that too but when you get to the point where suggesting that non-consensual sex can be cast as bad sexual etiquette you’ve crossed a line. He’s never apologised for his comments and he should have.

  22. Genuine question…. does anyone know what the UK Prime minister’s position is on europe ? Does he want out or does he want to stay in when their referendum comes around ? How about the Labour guy whatever his name is and the deputy dawg from the liberals ? What is their position ? Will they all campaign and convince us to STAY in Europe as we would be even better together ?

  23. Regarding gorgeous George’s comments last night.

That’s the pretext Sturrgeon and Harvie used when they threatened not to appear if Galloway was on the show, isn’t it?

That Harvie character has to be, by a considerable distance, the most repulsive individual in Scottish public life.
