I watched Leipzig lose 3-0 to Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday evening. It was not the reassuringly bad performance by our Champions League opponents the score line suggests. Leipzig showed plenty of effort throughout, even when the outcome was beyond doubt.
They were frustrating in attack and porous in defence; a bit like Celtic the following day, but in the Bundesliga, punishment is more acute than anything we are likely to see in Paisley. Leipzig are a team lesser than its constituent parts. In time, that will change. Celtic’s concern with this issue will be over three weeks today, when the second of our doubleheader against them takes place.
We return to action at home to Motherwell, four days before our game in Germany. Another chance for Ange Postecoglou to rotate the squad? That’s significantly less likely now than pre-Paisley. At the same time, Leipzig are home to bottom of the gable, Bochum, who have one point from seven outings. They could not have handpicked an easier warmup for our meeting.
What is less reassuring for Marco Rose, who took over as Leizig manager two weeks ago, is that like Celtic, the bulk of his squad departed for international duty since the weekend. He will not get an opportunity to work with them as a group until a couple of days before the Bochum game. Even that game is unlikely to provide a useful test of progress.
Whatever ails Leipzig, Rose will cure their vulnerable soon. Celtic have to exploit a team in flux and find two performances in the next three weeks that can define their season.

All clear from the dentist

We need a squad rotation with the amount of fixtures, hope Ange recognises we may have 2 players for every position but we don’t have 2 teams.
Bit surprised that the 2021/22 accounts are not out yet.
I had thought that yesterday was a good day to “bury” good news — the board think we should do this in case the publicity of our financial successes encourage the plebs to demand a growth agenda.
Anyway they should be out next week during the September Weekend.
Given the trading update of 3 months ago — good news seemingly — the figures will make interesting reading..
£20mill spend — possibly net / possibly not — will have some context regarding our financial position after winning the league and selling out the run in. Plus the fact that we passed on a starting CB or at least we didn’t manage to bring on in.
MoJ = 4th CB standard.
SW = out on loan standard.
Allegedly we have 14K names on the waiting list at the moment — interesting.
Home tickets are getting very hard to come by.
CQN Corner seems so far away.
In the days leading up to St Mirren, a good number on CQN were calling for big changes to the starting 11 following the team’s exertions in Warsaw.
I and a couple of others counselled against wholesale changes. My exact words were – It’s a league game not the league cup.
A lot of posters got carried away with our domestic success and like Ange, took St Mirren for granted and paid the price.
Never again.
MM – I’m on it

Match ticket availability is CFC web-site roulette.
Seems to be random announcements of tickets with a cavalry charge thereafter.
Jr and his pals win some / lose some.
They got lucky and had tickets for the Livi match.
Queenie is/was not popular.
Love the “please check regularly” vibe.
Nothing like trying to make things easier for the support.
And then you have the away support debacle — tickets are hereditary including seats on the bas.
For a progressive club we seem to have a regressive away ticket policy.
The away support behave like pound-land aristocrats while the rest of us are just plebs looking on.
Incredible that uber rebels of the away support want to spend so much money keeping the fag end of the SPL afloat.

Which posts made you think The Quiet Man is a troll?
He certainly doesn`t seem like one to me !
TOM MCLAUGHLIN on 20TH SEPTEMBER 2022 2:42 PM
True.
But…
Do you really think Ange took St Mirren for granted?
AP’s team selection — secondary issue.
We played like we were hungover — first to last man on the park.
I wonder who made money from that result?
Was it Bookie friendly … ?
You bet !?!
The seven dwarves have been informed as from tomorrow they have to meet in a group of six
■One of them ain’t happy■
Seriously:Name the two venues from games listed below;
Celtic v Den Bosch..
Celtic vDukla Prague
Celtic v Real Sociedad all 2015……And
●Celtic v KR Reykjavik.[2014]●
Just a bit of ….remembering back.
Madmitch – so it wasn’t the strip to blame, it was a wider betting conspiracy? No one’s biting. 🐟
On another matter, put trainers on today for first time in like 12 weeks as not an option up until now as couldn’t reach 😁.
It reminded me of putting on my first set of football boots as a wean in the 70’s i.e. difficult.
They were second hand as bought for my brother as Christmas present but too tight for him. Adidas Cops Mundial if I remember correctly.
First pair I saved up and bought myself were Pumas, might have been Puma Kings, only remember buying them as Maradona wore them at World Cup.
So when did you get your first pair and what where they?
Winfield 4 stripes from woolies..
I could play with anything on my feet.. I was that good..
AoW @ 3.29
Bookie friendly result — I think they must be very happy with that result.
We played as if we were hungover.
The defence was 75% second string plus we heavily thrifted the MF.
Horrible performance — weak defence / low energy MF / attack not involved.
Plus you have JH looking startled when the ball came near him.
Full house of a team off its eggs.
We managed to stay unbeaten for 38 SPL games — full season.
We went unbeaten in the SPL for 364 days — not quite a full year.
Not good.
ART OF WAR @ 3:29 PM,
Mine were black and white golas, not the most credible but I choose them myself, so only me to blame.
Actually just googled them and they still do them as a seventies retro trainer, still got a great look, still got no cred:)))
Hail Hail
The solution to the country’s ails is to make sure bankers get bigger bonuses.
Not sure if that’s after they’ve paid back the billions of bail out money.
If we thought Johnson was bad I fear Truss to be worse
70’s sports footwear:
Black gutties.
Dunlop Green Flash — every summer.
Adidas — Mamba / Bamba / Samba — at a guess Samba / middle range pricewise.
St Michael — aunt worked in M+S in the toon.
Gola — big circle shape in the sole.
We called Adidas Samba, Mars Bars…….as you could work, rest and play in them
BOYJOEBELFAST
Celtic v Den Bosch, Celtic v Dukla Prague & Celtic v Real Sociedad all played at St Mirren Park.
Celtic v KR Reykjavik played at Murrayfield.
Fanad
Thanks for getting back to me.
As I said I am away from home and heard nothing of this.
No fireworks ?? As originally mentioned
Lights at Samuel Beckett Bridge (red white and blue lights ???)
Flags at half mast ? Where over all official buildings? Only in Dublin ?
Very strange…Did you see this yourself
Fanad
I see flags were flown at half mast.
Nuts, crazy carry on
No tripping you Tom.
Yes St.Mirren Park and Murrayfield.
What is the Starz
No half mast flags flown in Letterkenny or Dungloe Public Services Centre (Council offices) as a local Councillor put the Letterkenny flag back to full mast and blocked off the flag poles in Dungloe. I passed the hospital, Garda station and Fire station on Monday no half mast flags in those places either.
HotSmoked.
We have a lot to learn from 1 in 9 pts
All j
It’s my view stated to the troll.

Open the door, servant..
Two more:
1) Jock Stein’s first and last signings were keepers.Who they?
2)BC are the initials of the last ever Celtic player to be given a debut by Mr.Stein.Name this player.
●I enjoy posting some posers….memories CSC ●
Souness shut up …your comments coming from your background are not credible and reek of a sad pundit trying to stay relevant and in the news …as far as true Celtic fans are concerned re you and your “0pinions” to use one of your favourite phrases..,no one likes them and we certainly don’t care
I know that James Forrest isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.
The below is imho a fantastic article on Maeda.
Apologies to anyone who might have seen this already.

Blatant two-handed push on Welsh, Joe Hart screaming for a foul
Big Jenz beat in the air despite being head shoulders above Main, very poor defending, he doesn’t cope well under pressure

I said we have a two week break play the fist team it’s not like we had a big European game during the week, bad call by the coach.
Sean T – loving the modesty, lol!
Chairbhoy – as long as you had the hoops on you could wear penny blacks and look cool.
Bada – wasn’t aware of Mars Bar thing. But you’re correct, worn 23/7.
Just wear Adidas now. 😁
Good summation Paul. They are ultra ambitious as a club and we can only counter that by being ultra humble…but who does humble in the UEFA Champions League? The Swiss sirs can throw you out for that.
Graham Sourness pointing a finger at Celtic today? It would be someone from Edinburgh, wouldn’t it?
