The worrying thing about tonight is Brendan seems to unable to galvanise the team.I wonder if any one watched Salzburg before tonight, same tactics, same mistakes, same result. We don’t seem to learn anything from our defeats in Europe.Lustig and Hendry are a liability and there is only so much Boyata can do to cover for them. This bland statement from Brendan tells us nothing.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said: “I thought in the first half we started well. By the end of the half we had frustrated Salzburg.
“Second half we gave away disappointing goals, that was the frustration for us. From that they gained confidence and I’ll need to analyse the game again, but my feeling was we didn’t retain the ball well enough either.
“It was a disappointing result for us in the end.”

Very disappointing euro peformance again..we really are struggling just now.both wings got destroyed especially our right but KT also has to stop more crosses getting into box, turned his back a few times tonight.Lustig a favourite of mine is finished tho he get very little decent help from JF.Griff i agree is havin a laugh..hes not fit and does not work anywhere near hard enough.Seen both sinclair and griff make runs away from loose ball to avoid chasing back..not on bhoys.

I reckon we’ll end this group with the three points we’ve already got.
In other news, we should enjoy Boyata while we have him. We’ll not see that quality next season – or beyond.

While the board certainly deserve criticism, it has been noted that we have been getting well-beaten over the years by teams with lesser resources – especially away from home. Our spend isn’t too dissimilar to the side we were beaten by tonight and you can feel the expectations getting lower each season.
Yes, RB Salzburg are doing well domestically. Yes, they had a decent run last year but to my mind, they have only been in the CL group stages once. They are Europa League fare make no mistake and the worst thing is, tonight was no surprise.
So what’s to blame? Do we throw more money at our team? Is something wrong with our scouting? Is British football simply not fit for purpose at European level?
And the big question, with the invincible season a lovely memory how much credit does Brendan have in the bank? At what stage do we start to ask if he’s getting the best out of the resources at his disposal?

Cameo appearances?
Ntcham is not interested and should be nowhere near a Celtic shirt.
Mulumba and Broony first names on the team sheet
Not those lazy uninterested buggers picking up there wages in return for very little at this time.
Like Ntcham, Forrest, Sinclair, McGregor, Simunovic,
Forrest has just signed a new 4 (?) year deal ffs!
What can we really expect from him?
Far too inconsistent for my liking.
In my opinion we might as well give Christie, Mulumba, Arzani, Gamboa, Johnson an extended run.
Otherwise it’s more of the same shite…………………..unless we change the manager.

The transition from a good side… drawing twice versus ManCity, and drawing against Borussia Munchengladbagh in Germany… to the current team who are less than mediocre….
That transition has been deliberate. And has been engineered by Lawell and plc board.
They have deliberately overseen this. And yet the majority (fans) just accept this.
Sad.

As others have said, the league is the priority. We’re not really good enough even for the EL and we don’t have the margin for error at home to waste energy in Europe. We are a much poorer team than 2 years ago. The optimism I had then for a great Celtic team has gone. Back to Ronny standard I fear. Make sure we win the league. That’s what matters, however we do it.

Another truly depressing Euro display. If Brendan isn’t backed in his stated aim to make us more competitive in Europe ,we will have more nights like this. Taking nothing away from Salzburg ,who are a good ,if not quite top flight european side , we were several players short of even being competitive. Edouard (goal or not) Ntcham, Griffiths ,McGregor were all unacceptably poor . Lustig did some good work but why oh why did he turn his back on the cross for their second goal? A tailors dummy would be better at stopping crosses ,and his lack of pace caused a few more problems besides.

Many valid points have been made about the performance of individual players this evening. Personally I am of the opinion that these players have not contributed much all season. Others like Kieran appear to be going backwards and certain like Calum and Sinclair appear to be players that will always get a game with Brendan, no matter how poorly they have been performing..
All evening Gordon by his constant kicking of balls into to our opponents half started more attacks than any of their players. During all of this, our coaching staff sat in the dugout looking into space. Why are the same mistakes being repeated week after week?
When the young lhads came on we got a little fire in the belly. Take note, Brendan. Drop some of your favourites or we will fail in the SPFL as well.
