Is it any compensation that POAK, who finished second to AEK last season, drew 1-1 against Benfica in Lisbon, in the Champions League playoff first leg last night? Not really, but it is a marker of the standard required to beat the Greek champions. POAK eliminated Basel 5-1 on aggregate two rounds ago. Greece are likely to have two teams in the group stage.
What might have been is irrelevant, it is more important to perform to the level required in Lithuania tomorrow evening. Celtic are far stronger than Suduva, but you and I have seen what happens when a Celtic team let standards drop away in Europe, even for a short period of a game.

Skimming back, I see someone recommended Sylvia’s in Harlem… if you are going to go to Harlem (definitely go! my favourite part of NYC!), I would suggest going on a sunday morning … Sylvia’s is the name place… food is okay (fried chicken and waffles), but they gospel singers on sunday morning …. if you are more into the food scene, Marcus Samuelson’s Red Rooster is just down the street …
but, as I said, if you can, try to get to Harlem on a Sunday morning and just walk around …. people dressed up in their sunday best, gospel music coming out of little storefront churches on every block …. if you close your eyes, you can hear Langston Hughes reciting his poetry …. magical place.
Kyle Laughatme is a hun fud. Good news thanks BSR.
DD VOGUEPUNTER, work for that reptile at that time , worst c!!t that I have ever worked for in my life . Also know the guy who done his windows that night, pity he never got his sands on him

Vidi went down to 10 men early doors. AEK taking full advantage.

PL: hi Stewart, are you interested in selling us your young CH?
SM: No.
PL: Good stuff. I’ll tell Brendan I’m offering you 4 million to prove I’m happy to back him.
SM: No problem. Be in touch soon about a couple of loan deals.
PL: Always happy to help our friends.

One of the funniest things I read here recently was that Celtic should issue a ticket to Dedryck in John Fallon’s seat. Could you imagine the carnage when TOHG turned up and a Celtic traitor was in his seat?
its worry if we even enquired about him never mind made a bid for McKenna he is absolutely hopeless.
Wonder if Celtic are making a point with McKenna. Bid put in and rejected then we quickly declare interest over. Would imagine Aberdeen were expecting another bid and drawn out affair after the McGinn saga. They can say not for sale but at the end of the day the player has a price. And they have a stadium to pay for.
McKenna is a smokescreen for the real deal
See la liga wanting to play one of the top fixtures in the states – players not happy
globetrotting leagues are the future
It is staggering to read regulars bemused at who is to blame for our shambolic summer recruitment.
This season is very similar to Ronny Deilas second season, the only difference then was that it was the forward line that was neglected and not the defence. We effectively had one first team striker, Leigh Griffiths. That year we were knocked out of the Champions League qualifiers by Malmo.
I was on these pages disgusted that we had let the window shut and we were solely reliant on Griff, just as i was in January, when it was obvious we needed strengthened for this season and we got Comperr and Hendry.
As usual the board apologists were unsurprisingly backing the lack of recruitments and said everything would be fine.
That year we finished bottom of our Europa League, with what on paper was our kindest draw. Aberdeen pushed us all the way in the league and we lost to lower league Sevco in the cup.
Instead of strengthening when required we panicked and brought in Carlton Cole, then Colin Kazim Richards.
Ronny paid the price with his job but who really was responsible?
The common denominator of course is Peter Lawell, he didn’t take the rap then and already the usual suspects are making excuses for him now.
I’ll repeat what i said then, when the window closed leaving us with just Griff on his own.
Peter Lawell GTF.
BSR
Think there may be a couple of defenders becoming available from Stoke

MIT-thanks mate,we only there 3days then on to Las Vegas so not a lot of time but I’m adding it to the list ?
Aberdeen turning down £3.5m for McKenna (if that’s true) is much worse than us turning down £9m for Boyata , given our comparative financial strength.
They will not get a bid in from anywhere near that for ANY of their players .
SID
“Aberdeen pushed us all the way in the league ”
RD won both his leagues by margins of 17 points and 15 points respectively
If we bid for McKenna?
Our scouting team need replacing immediately.
AEK 2 up
Sid
what actually happened in January was that PL said to BR – are you looking for a CH, if so where can I find one – BR said go compare – the rest is history
AEK SCORE again
