Sectarian, racist, why not genocide too?

906

Not one of you will be surprised at reports this morning that Celtic escaped punishment for “sectarian chanting” when the club and its fans were not, and never have been, accused of sectarian behaviour.  Last month one Irish title suggested Celtic fans stood accused of racism before amending their online content to read sectarianism and eventually paying enough attention to zone in on “offensive chanting”.  If they’re going to make things up, I really would prefer they accused us of something a bit more original in Scottish football, like genocide.  Ironically it would be less offensive.

Celtic have been open to all since its inception and are supported by groups right across Scottish society in increasing numbers.  It’s the other lot, you know, them, who brought sectarian practices into the game.  From Neil McCallum, our first goal scorer, to Gary Hooper, our last, Celtic have never had this peculiar social deficiency.  Never.

The SPL decision not to act against Celtic, after a Strathclyde Police match commander complained, was assured, as Celtic could demonstrate they had previously taken action “all reasonably practicable steps” to prevent what the league called “chanting in support of the IRA”.  Both Neil Lennon and Peter Lawwell have spoken in unequivocal terms on this subject in recent weeks.

The league goes on to say, “Such behaviour is unacceptable and unwelcome at SPL matches.”  All the league have done here is pitched the ball back into Celtic’s court to prevent a reoccurrence.  I don’t fancy that job.

Heard that also and it was plain that they new he had made a wrong accusation but refused to correct him .

Did you also hear king saying he spoke to a delegate a few years back who told him that he had reported THE OLD FIRM more that 20 times for singing and nothing was done ,since we have only just been done under a new policy of illicit chanting ,I wonder how the 20 reports were split up .

You only put enough money down for a 10p yankee mate. That’s eleven bets.

A 10p lucky 15 will cost ye £1.50,as you are including 4 10p singles in the bet as well.

Some bookies treble the odds for one winner in a lucky 15,most online ones don’t.So it’s not really worth your while going for the four singles, best stick with the original 10p yankee.

    Good luck with it anyway.

You know that our thinking on this is far from being miles apart. Your proposal is well thought out and is clearly aimed at finding a solution for us should this ridiculous piece of legislation come to pass.

Your idea is certainly not absurd but I do understand the consternation this would cause to guys like googybhoy, who rarely attend but have Celtic in their soul. Having said that, utilising season ticket details as a means of ascertaining opinion would probably be the most sensible way forward.

I tend to think that CQN is an accurate depiction of the Celtic family but possibly not so when examining the views of those who actually attend. However, even within the pages of this fine blog we have a massive range of opinion on what should and what shouldn’t be sung.

All it takes is one to break any agreement reached.

Celtic Supporting Snyde Phone In listeners…………

Any Tim that helps keep the show on the road by listening is partly responsible for the nonsense they spout…………

    Popycock!

I listen to various radio stations output; music, current affairs, sport etc., etc.

The day and hour they actually influence my way of thinking, my morals or ethics – is the day I will drop-kick the radio out the window!

I certainly don’t need to be lectured on what I should or should not be listening to!

  5. BelfastCityCelt –

I meant to put £1.50 in my message. My online freind, for a luck 15, offers double the odds for a single winner and a 10% bonus if all 4 come up. But thanks for the advice, always welcome.

Anyway, Chelsea already 1 up on Valencia…

    I understand now:-)

What do you propose we as a support do?

What bit is daft? The vote? the Proscribed list of songs? The buy-in of all supporters groups? Our fans determining democratically what we as a group (the Celtic support) should sing and not sing at games?

I’m interested in your views, Ernie – it is very easy to say somethings is rubbish, daft, stupid, wrong, but what alternative do you propose?

    Do you have a solution?

Genuinely interested, the status quo for me isn’t an option.

  8. If Aluko is proven guilty and banned for 2 games will McIntyre, who has been pulled up for criticising the ref, still be in the dock?

Either way, maybe he can ask why the ref only gave one foul (on 80min) against the rANGERs in the whole match.

This may go some way to explaining his understandable ire against the ref.

    ‘daft idea’ is just unhelpful

what could be done, in your opinion?

  10. Oh and Ernie, I missed out the ouch!!! in my post.

I must also state the Celtic fans having the self determination to create our own list of proscribed songs isn’t my idea.

I don’t think they like we are back in the League. They need to create some misdirection to try and detract us from our Holy Grail.

Will the MIB be disciplined too, can they overturn the result as it was given due to simulation.

A decision is made that gives them the points, ref comes on and apologizes for getting it wrong or player is slapped on the wrist by the review panel, either way they do not deduct the points because of the mistake.

These Feckkers have been doing this to us for years, but it does seem to be more in the last couple of years. Is this due to us highlighting the cheating bassas that they are, or are they just so gallous (sp) that they think they can do what ever they want.

It is time to leave this sorry excuse for a football league behind.
