SFA corporate governance questions

Do you like our new lightweight template?  There’s a lot less green and tons more whyte.  Like it or not, the whyte template will be here for a wee while, so try to enjoy it.

Ticket arrangements for our game at Ibrox next month were always going to be tasty.  With rumour that Rangers were heading for administration, Celtic refused to forward their rivals tickets for the game on 28 December on credit, demanding payment in advance.  Rangers found the money after a failed appeal to the better nature of the Celtic board.  This proved to be a wise move as only a few weeks later Rangers were in administration leaving a trail of unpaid debts to other clubs in their wake, but an awkward situation was likely to follow with Rangers (in administration) looking to reciprocate with payment terms.

Celtic are good for the credit, but if they pay for tickets, what’s the chance Rangers will survive long enough to fulfil the fixture?

None of us are in a position to tell, but Celtic cannot sell tickets to their own supporters in the chance that Rangers will not honour them.  If Rangers are still in business, I expect a busy few days leading up to the fixture as cash and tickets are transferred.

And to think we’ve listened to all the ‘Old Firm conspiracy’ theories all these years….. didn’t turn out that way after all.

Really pleased to see STV picked up on our story of last week on the potential improper registration of players and managed to get an anonymous quote from the SFA suggesting “that if conclusive evidence can be produced, the Scottish FA could launch a wider investigation into the conduct of the club”.

“Could”!  This story has now been reported by several mainstream media outlets.  It looks like the SFA will have to be dragged into examining this by Uefa.  Embarrassingly, they are likely to conclude an inquiry into Rangers next week without reference to the 10,000lb gorilla (as No Surrender Johnston would say) in the room.

There are now serious questions of corporate governance at the association, something the chief exec was keen to avoid. If the SFA do initiate an inquiry into the multiple contract allegation, they should start by asking some of the guys who have arrived at Ibrox from continental Europe. I hear Joachim Bjorklund, a decent defender who signed his only Rangers contract in 1996, is still working in the game.

  1. TinyTim – Naismith won’t be fit until Oct / Nov which means they would not be able to sell him till Jan 2013. That is why he will be released. He may have insurance, he may not, but also the medical bills need to be paid.

Naismith’s name will be first on the list.

Wouldn’t mind reading some of those,”negative” emails Trish Godman received after she was seen wearing a Celtic top.

    Morning, good people of Celtic.

And thanks, Paul, for your continued commitment to this blog!

Feeling lean and mean this morning!

Neil Lennon – a Celtic legend as a player and a manager!

He possesses more dignity underneath the closely cut finger nail on the little finger of his left hand than the other mob have demonstrated throughout their 140 years of corrupt history.

Just spotted……hun demonstrator walked onto the bog of eternal stench with a yardstick, wrote down the internal and external sizes of the pitch, walked outside, handed the notebook to a wee guy who was wearing a cheap stetson to hide his googley eyes, then asked him why he needed the measurements…….The googley-eyed cowboy was already in the back seat of a hackney before the stupid hun could finish his question.

    om the leedstim,

I wish I could say I was responsible for the hommerism, but I cant, like you I read it on here and like you had the belly laugh.

Not sure who deserves the credit but I remember thanking someone recently for it. Been insufferable with it since then.

In fact, I’m insufferable anyway, so have just increased my insufferable potency :oD)))

  16. Just saw the video of big Dan’s injury for the first time. Good luck to the big man in his recovery.

Bloody hard though, isn’t he? Most players doing their ACL are rolling around on the ground screaming, Dan jut feels a wee bit of pain and walks off.

  17. We are going to have a fun game this afternoon.

It will be called “Pick Ally’s Best Possible Team”.

What we then do is imagine how large a mega spanking we will be giving them in their own midden.
