Do you like our new lightweight template? There’s a lot less green and tons more whyte. Like it or not, the whyte template will be here for a wee while, so try to enjoy it.
Ticket arrangements for our game at Ibrox next month were always going to be tasty. With rumour that Rangers were heading for administration, Celtic refused to forward their rivals tickets for the game on 28 December on credit, demanding payment in advance. Rangers found the money after a failed appeal to the better nature of the Celtic board. This proved to be a wise move as only a few weeks later Rangers were in administration leaving a trail of unpaid debts to other clubs in their wake, but an awkward situation was likely to follow with Rangers (in administration) looking to reciprocate with payment terms.
Celtic are good for the credit, but if they pay for tickets, what’s the chance Rangers will survive long enough to fulfil the fixture?
None of us are in a position to tell, but Celtic cannot sell tickets to their own supporters in the chance that Rangers will not honour them. If Rangers are still in business, I expect a busy few days leading up to the fixture as cash and tickets are transferred.
And to think we’ve listened to all the ‘Old Firm conspiracy’ theories all these years….. didn’t turn out that way after all.
Really pleased to see STV picked up on our story of last week on the potential improper registration of players and managed to get an anonymous quote from the SFA suggesting “that if conclusive evidence can be produced, the Scottish FA could launch a wider investigation into the conduct of the club”.
“Could”! This story has now been reported by several mainstream media outlets. It looks like the SFA will have to be dragged into examining this by Uefa. Embarrassingly, they are likely to conclude an inquiry into Rangers next week without reference to the 10,000lb gorilla (as No Surrender Johnston would say) in the room.
There are now serious questions of corporate governance at the association, something the chief exec was keen to avoid. If the SFA do initiate an inquiry into the multiple contract allegation, they should start by asking some of the guys who have arrived at Ibrox from continental Europe. I hear Joachim Bjorklund, a decent defender who signed his only Rangers contract in 1996, is still working in the game.

Morning Bhoys, I posted the following temp. solution for Smart Phone Users last night re ability to get further than Page 9 of Comments.
http://www.celticquicknews.co.uk/?p=8053&cpage=15#comment-1320990
I’m on an iPhone & the only way to get to Comments pages beyond 10 at the moment is to select the URL within the Menu Bar at the top of the page and manually amend the page number, e.g. change the following portion of the URL “8053&cpage=10#comments” from 10 to 11 etc.
Hope it still works..!!
Hail, hail

Yeah, toe your line and play their game
Yeah, let the anaesthetic cover it all
Till one day they call your name
You know it’s time for the hammer to fall – yeah
Rich or poor or famous for
Your truth it’s all the same – oh no – oh no
Oh lock your door but rain is pouring
Through your window pane – oh no – yeah
Baby now your struggle’s all vain
Oooh oooh oooh oooh oooh
For we who grew up tall and proud
In the shadow of the mushroom cloud
Convinced our voices can’t be heard
We just wanna scream it louder and louder and louder
What the hell we fighting for ?
Ah, just surrender and it won’t hurt at all
You just got time to say your prayers
Eh, while you’re waiting for the hammer to hammer to fall
Hey, yes, it’s starting to fall eh, hammer, you know
Yeah, hammer to fall, wooh, ah, hey, eh woowoo, ha eh hammer
Waiting for the hammer to fall baby
Yeah yeah while you’re waiting for the hammer to fall
Give it to me one more time
Lazy bhoy,
I find it easier just to select the page number :oD)))
Rogue Leader, have you got info that it’s definitely happening this afternoon? Would really love it if Naismith and Aluko were on it! Both should be IMO
SffS
No problems with page numbers on the laptop, so it is defintiely a mobile issue. Still, editing the URL works so it’s a monor inconvenience rather than a major issue.
At least CQN is back!
Gordon J..,
might be worth another look, its been sorted this morning, at least I can see the last page on the iphone

SFFS,
cant see aluko going anywhere, paying his own way is he not :oD
Saying that, they might ask him to move on, but keep paying his wages through the club, that way they will be able to afford a couple of the reserve squad, know what a mean :oD))))
Lazy Bhoy,
no one is best lurkin, well except me maybe :oD
RogueLeader,
So the axe is falling on the playing squad as opposed to the whole club.

This charity game the Huns have against AC – might have been asked before, but I presume there is VAT payable on the tickets, and that if the game had been in aid of the charity there would still have been VAT due? It would have just been a net payment to the charities listed, wouldn’t it? Just wondered if there were any tax/VAT implications for changing the destination of the funds….
canamalar,
So it has, cheers. Working fine on the BlackBerry now.
Many thanks to Paul, Andrew or whoever did the needful
Paul67 Love the updates well done to you and Andrew and anyone else involved. (Is this a Phoenix CQN? :-) )
BRTH Mate your efforts in the Venessa appeal are fantastic and you deserve all the plaudits you get including a knighthood (I believe an ex Steel Magnate/Property Tycoon may be handing one back soon!!!) Seriously well done. Makes you feel really good about who and what we are and what we do as a community
Hail Hail
Stephen with a “ph”
Ard M..,
think I’m getting used to the idea of the long drawn out affair, in fact begining to appreciate the fun that could be had.

I can go along with that, but my fear is that things dragging out, increase the opportunity for someone to step in and save them.

Productivity in the workplace slumps across the globe as CQN mobile readers can now access beyond page 9.

Chin up,mate. A fair few of us have ben paid of in our time, but finding out by text is disgraceful.
will it be a sombre meeting with sally and the administrators for some of the “players”?
Im not entirely sure thats the case as some of them will want to get out as quick as they can before all the lifeboats are taken.

Franco0,
if you had been reading this blog with an regularity, you would know its tradition to greet new posters with the title of hun, it saves time and upsat in the future.
As for loosing your job, sad to hear it, good luck in your quest to find a new job.

There will be someone who wants to save them, of that there is no doubt.
Where will they play ?
CW still owns them, he owns the bigotdome and murry park, any attempt to take his preferred creditor status away will take mucho time in the courts., that’s where we want them.
Court cases will stop any pheonix in the meantime, drag it through the courts.
If they buy St Mirren or Cowdenbeath there will be a legal challenge for CW and his side, this could drag out for years mi amigo, no hun in the meantime.
On top of that, the sfa might end up in the courts, happy days.
Fortunes Favour Mibbes,
Whytey is good with numbers – except those pesky ones with the £ in front. He has real trouble keeping them in the right place.
Paul
Don’t know if anyone else has pointed out, and my apologies if they have, but I can only get 9 pages of comments on my Blackberry using Opera. If I use the Blackberry browser I can get all pages (stacked in rows) but the comments aren’t as well presented as they are on Opera.
I’m on iPhone and reading page 19 with no problem and no work around. How’s that?
Apparently the administrators thought it appropriate to fly a black flag at ibrokes today due to the further impending doom and gloom thats about to be announced, wee jimmy (ahm no a bigot) the kit man was duly dispatched to the flag room to retrieve the item to find whytey had beaten him to it and its on ebay along with the arsenal shares and anything else that wasnt nailed down….old mother hubbard has another bare cupboard
By the way, good to see the blog back after the recent cyber-attacks.
Well done to Paul and Andrew and any others concerned-grateful thanks!
Can I also say how glad I am to see the return of CANAJUN BHOY?
I’d been wondering where he’d gone…….
