Shift in perception, winter solstice of 54-65

518

Don’t give me your ‘slump’ mockery. Just think for a minute, what if this IS our slump? Five league games in 17 days, four of which were won by a single goal is as bad as it’s been since Brendan Rodgers took over as manager.

We have, of course, shuffled the pack. With a hefty nine games this month, Brendan is correct to rest the weary legs which concluded our Champions League group only two weeks ago. He also has a full programme over the festive period to prepare for.

With 20 wins in 21 domestic games this season we’ve won the first trophy, scoring 11 and without conceding. Win our remaining games this month and we’ll be at least 17 clear “and it’s not New Year”. With a game in hand.

Scottish football has never had such a dominant champion, even during the two nine-in-a-row eras. It’s been achieved with largely the same squad as last season, while we were the only team participating in European group competition – and with a sustainable financial model.

I know talk of “slump” is ridiculous, but I bet you’ve already picked up a shift in perception of what is normal for Celtic. Most of us have been around long enough to remember the dark days. Some of us have been around to remember the winter solstice, which lasted from 1954 to 1965, but we’re all susceptible to recent-experience bias.

The collapse of Aberdeen this season robbed us of what competition we had but in compensation, we’re watching a great Celtic team come together. Team development does not happen on a linear plane. It requires risks to be taken and mistakes to be made, but no one is in any doubt about Celtic’s direction of travel.

Surely it is a matter of protocol…

The four horseman have given their view,

    Cqn provided the juice..

    Seguramente no

And that’s my lot for tonight!

Though my lasting memory of Paul and Wullie McStay, when I met them in RS McColls (no joke, honest) in Hamilton, a couple of days after a postponement against TFOD, after he had asked me what I was doing out of the school, was “How would the game have gone?” “Nae problem!” was the answer.

2 – 0 in the re-arranged game. You could not beat The Maestro! A gem of a person.

  3. Winnings et al. CQN portrays itself as something which it clearly isn’t. Celtic news not lazy journalism. Well quite frankly it’s become a parody of itself.

It’s always been clear that Paul has had a close relationship with lawwell. it is simply hypocritical for Paul to love to wax lyrical about the behaviour of the Huns and their board etc but think it acceptable to protect lawwell and co. Paul in this respect is hopelessly compromised. He frankly always has been.

There is nothing more important than integrity and the Celtic board have shown a complete lack of integrity in relation to the whole Huns affair and Celtics pathetic, corrupt response to it.

Paul, to protect his relationship with the board, simply won’t call it.

So CQN is simply board spin.

Furthermore he has become the “voice of the Celtic support” in the media. It is the same media he derides. So why use them. They will never put out a decent story. Whether we like it or not for the “return of the old firm game” he featured heavily in the media and didn’t challenge the big lie, instead he admitted he missed the games. All the while posting stories contrary to that view on the blog.

For those of you who believe it is rude to challenge Paul on these matters, why? If you set out to,push propaganda you are ( and should) be called on it.

This sorry sorry tale has led many to examine their own support of Celtic. I said right from the start that Celtics mishandling of the death of the Huns could massively damage Celtic. Perhaps I was wrong on the basis of what massive means. Clearly lawwell and co will be slapping one another’s backs and giving one another fab bonuses. Attendances are up etc. But we have lost our right to any moral high ground, to any anguish we could express when cheated. We are willingly complicit in our oppression. Indeed we pay money to be faced with it.

One more thing. Owen this evening said that so,show I said Neil Lennon brought matters on himself. That is quite frankly unsure for a poster who repeatedly points out the institutionalised nature of Scotland’s racism. If anyone can point to any post where I said such things then I will eat my hat. But I know it doesn’t exist.

What’s fascinating about this is that this sort of lying and disinformation has become rife on the Internet and in blogs, news sites etc. Recent political events have seen that come to the fore. I think what has got to be asked here is motivation. If posters like Owen will do anything (including simply lying) to discredit another poster then why is that? What is the motivation? It strikes me as beyond desperation.

    So Owen. Why lie?

  4. What seems a long long time ago….Paul67s points of view were a rallying call in the fight against lies and innuendo. Sadly our leader’s voice seems to have went from a clarion to a whisper

Bourne, I agree 100% with the first part, don’t agree with the second part.

Heyho, doesn’t make you or I a bad person.

Are we or are we not looking forward to a beautiful Festive Season?

I wish you and yours the best of times.

The old board also threw in the hoops when le merde signed for thems rather than put him out of game for term of that contract with support of CAS and UEFA!

*Fully concur, I’ve no doubt that if the shoe had been on the other foot (pun intended) bader would have, after all he put airdrie out of the game and yet probably ensured lifelong diamond peat got the same gig at stenhousemuir allowing him passage back intae the SFA where he could inflict uncontested damage tae us.

  10. The very fact that fans of the club has to raise the issue of resolution 12 and take it to the agm suggests the club were never interested in pursuing any fight or even asking questions . Celtic have access to some of the best legal minds in the country and have a CEO with a role within the SFA. Yet these people require the fans to raise issues of cheating, licensing issues, governance issues and have to request

    submisssions from said fans?

We’ve been getting played for the last four years, old form status quo the way of the current board but they should just be honest..for once.

  11. Gross ingratitude!

Let me tell you, that never mind Paul67, no one would get near that boardroom if that said board did not think that they could control and or manipulate him.

CQN’s role in Res12 – as mentioned by Auldheid the other day – hasn’t been journalistic -lazy or otherwise.

Had it been the case we could have had a huge exclusive in June re the UEFA letter. We kept our mouths shut because that’s the way the guys wanted to go.

When we had to be pro-active we did so and that put the matter at the forefront at SFA, UEFA and Celtic.

Why did UEFA write back to shareholders and say what they did?

There’s a lot more to this than Is known at this stage.

Someone earlier asked why the Guardian pulled that ad. Many revelations to come out but we are committed to supporting the Res 12 boys and to supporting Celtic at HAMILTON.

  20. Perceptions and Temperaments.

If Paul was a Melancholic he on principle would not consort with the board.

If Paul was a choleric he might challenge the board, start a #RES12 type campaign

If Paul was a sanguine he might get into bed with the board.

If Paul was a phlegmatic he might do anything to keep every side happy.

Rarely we have only one temperament, but mostly a dominant and a lesser combination.

If Paul was dominantly choleric but had influential sanguine qualities, then he might start up CQN as a voice of the fan, drive it forward but be influenced in his ambition by the powers that be, find himself compromised.

I don’t know Paul personally. So I have no idea what his temperament is.

  21. Margaret McGill on

Paul67 must be proud that the genesis of res12 was on CQN. So proud in fact that he now has nothing to say.

The PLC realized back in the internet bampot days the power of the Internet and CQN in particular. I suspect a special liaison was established and Paul67 was given privvy to Celtic info not furnished to us mere mortals as was noted by some back on the day. In retrospect I don’t think Paul67 wants to betray that confidence and now pumps out The Old Firm pish like a good little boy. So the future of CQN is that of the Celtic View or hand it over to the green sheep or kill it.

  22. The so called form slump, stop laughing at the back, is bringing out the negative comments.

It’s easy to seize on a subject you are not fully aware or or involved in and use it to attack your favourite target. The board.

What I cannot understand is the tendency to also attack the very medium that provides the oxygen to vent your wrath.

It’s like Tam O’Shanter shooting Meg, his horse, before he reaches the bridge.

As far as I know, Paul provided the platform for the Res12 four to raise and publicize the issues, and allowed the blog to be used extensively for fund raising and to report what the Resolutioners wanted released.

For the posters shooting at the host, I give you
