It is my club, it’s the club I support, and I get it that it’s more than a club, you don’t, your problem mate not mine, and I certainly don’t speak for you or any other malcontent in here you’ve got that right, but I will defend my club every time you or any other malcontent in here spout you anti board allegations and lies towards MY club, that’s my right as a CFC supporter, you on the other hand can do what ever you think of CFC and I’ll defend it when and why someone runs it down, I’v said this many, many times.

Celtic Football Club ARE MORE THAN JUST A CLUB, unless of course your a malcontent, pick you camp, and post your rant.

As I’ve pointed out before on here a few(!) times,I was at the Rennes match.

With my Dad and my Uncle Jim. Founder members of Ardrossan Garryowen CSC,and bleed green. Neither of whom have any time for certain songs, etc, being sung inside the ground, preferring them to be the province of the supporters club, bus, pub, etc.

You weren’t allowed on the bus if you didnae know the Rebs, ffs!

We were right beside the Green Brigade that night. My Uncle Jim isnae known as The Growler for nothing. If he had heard anything that night, they would have known about it. Disnae take prisoners.

Same wi my Dad. Equally,I heard nothing untoward.

I believe this was the first time that particular charge had been brought against any team. THE EXILED TIM and I have always been of the opinion that the finding against us was worded-deliberately-so that a first-year law student could get us off the hook.

The club decided differently, perhaps thinking it would knock the GB back into line.

Instead,we ended up with “previous” thus making it increasingly difficult to defend the increasing number of charges. We’ve got form. They now look for any transgression rather than wonder whether it’s worth pushing it.

People can blame the GB all they like, but it all started with a trumped-up charge by an influential Celtic supporter, mysteriously not challenged by our board.

  3. Probably the most common post on CQN over the years is various versions of “bloody auto correct” oft repeated by the same posters time and time again.

Just took a peek before getting down to the nitty gritty. Unless we know what the banner in Hebrew said the people round about would not be able to comment either way. If it was offensive it may form part of UEFA charge.

I think I agree with that.

The problem I have is who decides what cause is worthy of a show of support.

Main stream media note that it is a £20m jackpot minimum that awaits Celtic. How many Of your Sevco strips would that buy?

See Brendan is distancing us from any player who would attract a high score at football player scrabble. Still think there is something in the one who played for Luverpool and now plays in Germany though.

  11. One thing is for sure ‘more than a club’ doesn’t give carte blanche to do what the hell you like. Any attempt to use or interpret the mission statement as justification for bringing the club into disrepute is disappointing. It is indesputable that any Celtic supporter engaging in any cause of a social or political nature must do so with the prior consent of the club.

You have touched on a really important issue. The GB have no authority to act or demonstrate values on behalf of the club.

The banner was held aloft where a splinter group from the GB sit. They also had Palestinian flags. It’s in the Celtic End, where many auld men sit. Auld men way past their prime and probably more concerned about catching their own sh*** than fighting would supposedly kick the 4rses of any young upstarts. Auld men who have contributed to this fine world which the young also inhabit. The point I am making is that altho the demo was mainly by these groups, the folk on CQN, who are nowhere near representative of the vast majority of the Celtic Support, are living in a different wee cosy planet if they think that the protest was not applauded by others in the Celtic Support.

You and I have crossed swords now and again on the SNP,but respectfully-at least on your part.

You’re right on this one. I doubt much would have been different in the last ten years from what it is today if Labour still held power in Scotland. The previous ten years of devolved power weren’t great, and the forty or so years prior of local power didn’t show as much improvement as it should have done.

    I reckon AN TEARMANN,for one,will agree.

Maybe the Yes Minister idea applies everywhere. People get voted in with good intentions, the intentions to change things for the better, and come up against a brick wall of vested interest and intractability.

    Also known as

    Naw,this is how it works.

  18. Unless UEFA are thick as mince or more arrogant than any of us give them credit for there isn’t a chance in hell that they’ll close a stand for fans flying Palestinian flags. The focus would turn firmly on them, the world over, not Celtic. Huge ramifications. It’ll be a fine as nobody actually cares about a fine, other than UEFA’s bursar with a Christmas function for fat cats to think about.

2 days before last Wednesday’s game a client of mine who watches Israeli football said he hoped Celtic had watched Hapoel and identified Ogu as the unquestionably the key player. Says only he can dictate the play and he can do it very well, the team’s metronome. He struggled to get into the game at all in the first half against us as we sat high up the park. 2nd half he sat in front of the back 4, big black fell, no 30. He did begin to dictate play, great passer, pinging balls into feet or out wide.

At one point he looked injured and to my shame I was hoping a wee two week lay off but he returned to the play. His prominence in the game was when Rogic tired and he found space.

Whoever plays as the ‘No 10’ for us should concentrate as man marker on him when we don’t have the ball, their movement is much more random when he isn’t available to dictate.

  19. Let’s say for talking sake a team is playing a match in Ukraine and their supporters start waving a Russian flag. Clearly that would be inappropriate and potentially incendiary as would waving a Palestinian flag in Isreal.

Rule 16 is a sensible (not perfect) rule designed to protect the wellbeing of football supporters.

“What is it to be? In the words of Len Barry, it’s as easy as 1, or, 2, or 3.”

How about option 4- stay within the tent and campaign for a groundsheet for the whole of the tent floor area. That way there would be equal discomfort caused by pissing inside the tent bu UEFA or the dissidents. And, if the policy of pissing outside the tents was jointly adopted, you could enjoy freedom from the discomfort of the morning dew (no pun intended) together.

  26. For once I really enjoyed a scroll back through the night shift. Intrigued by the Saor Uladh chap, said he was a poster of long standing but left for a few years and obviously returned in recent days. I must say I don’t remember him from the past but he has certainly left his mark over the last couple of days.

That argument undermines the rest of the one which you had been making very well.

With freedom of speech comes responsibility.

They knew the wider Celtic support were going to be held responsible for their display. That they carried it out despite the sure knowledge that the club-and by association, the rest of the fans-would suffer suggests that only their opinion matters.

I argued against it from the off,and also pointed out that the club should be challenging the legitimacy of the rule on which any charge was likely to be based. My heart sank when I saw the display then swelled as I remembered where I would have been thirty years ago. And what I would have been waving.

Aye,I’m proud of them. But they need to get a grip. This display was justifiable on moral grounds, but they need to pick their battles.

I also thought number 24 and the number 9, (once he moved to the left flank, in the second half), were both very effective.

I’ll be nervous until the 94th minute but then I’m the guy who asked Joe, sitting next to me, “Do you think we can hold on”? When Messi scored in the 125 game.

Bookies reckon it will be a close game with them slight favourites.
