Stunning charity effort by Celtic fans

936

A big well done to everyone who participated in the efforts to send Vanessa Riddle to Philadelphia for crucial medical treatment.  The £500k required was raised yesterday.

Brogan Rogan’ brought the issue to the blog and Taggsybhoy arranged the CQN Music Quiz earlier this month, our first formal activity for Vanessa.  Penfold gave us a signed Celtic top at the quiz which raised an incredible £5000 on eBay (plus gift aid) from a Celtic fan who, quite simply, gets what following this club is all about.

Not only did he pay £5000 but he told us to keep the shirt and use it again!  We then raffled the shirt on eBay and raised almost £1400.  You are all part of an incredible story by an incredible support.

The draw for the signed shirt took place at Uefa headquarters in Nyon, you can watch the video of below and find out if you won.

Our thanks again to Andrew in Belfast for his tireless help with the site this week.  The new ‘whyte’ template is in place and we’ll continue to restore functionality.

“You can just hear the arguments being practiced: Poor wee Rangers, duped by big bad Craigy. The club hasn’t actually done anything wrong, just got itself bought by the wrong man. And it would be unfair to the supporters to see the club go to the wall because of one one man’s actions.”

This has been my fear for several weeks. It may not be enough to get them off 100% but this will be used when a dishonourable compromise is made.

It will be followed by a campaign to draw a line under past events and look to the future where nothing like this will be allowed to happen with another club.

I think that Levein was given the job to shut him up after his rant about the

    Rev. Curry at mordor,etc.

On another note there could never be an all time Celtic team without

Bobby Murdoch, a class act !!

  6. How come they are discussing the rANGERs IA saga in Parlement, when it’s not even about the millions they’ve swindled from HMRC?

I thought UEFA/FIFA took a very dim view of politians interfering in football.

  7. Port Vale have been served with a winding-up petition by HM Revenue & Customs over an unpaid tax bill.

HMRC claim they are owed over £750,000 by the League Two club, who have failed to pay their players’ wages this month.

Vale’s board are trying to secure a loan from Stoke-on-Trent City Council to fund administration.

If that is successful, they will file for immediate administration to stave off the petition, although they will then be deducted 10 points.

That Football League punishment would effectively end their play-off bid.

The club, who are under a transfer embargo, are behind on their loan repayments to the council and do not have the number of directors needed, by law, to function properly.

    ——————-

blantyretim – so you take every single one of them to appeal? Is that regardless of the facts/evidence? In your world that means that everyone who applies for ESA has LCW! Nonsense.

However, if you were just taking the p*ss. Fair enough.

  11. Exiled Tim:

The worrying element to the leggo phenomenon is that he is potentially dangerous- to the fascistic supremacist mind set of the more extreme Hun it is all fuel for their paranoid delusions.

Like all supremacists they think if their rivals (ie uppity inferior taigs) have the upper hand it must be a conspiracy. Its not a question of whether or not they are wrong or their rivals are right. It is not a matter of them accepting that we live in an open democratic society that encourages equality for everybody- they want things to go back to the good old days: when the taigs knew their place; when they held all teh power and when it was their way or no way. But we can’t go back in time.

These are people who genuinely believe that they are entitled to get their way all the time and it is this attitude that makes them dangerous. Like a child who has never been told “NO” they develop what Freudian’s call “infinite ego”- this is what makes the toddler take its tantrums of primeval rage…does that remind you of some of the hun brethren?

I agree but I’m getting a bit concerned about these political moves to save Rangers. That and the pussy footing that is going on with the Administrators.

The only punishment thay have had is the 10 points, which is no good to us, and as long as you have jokers like McCall and Butcher, is no good to any other team either.

For me, whenever they start to lose players, that will be the start of the punishment, not before.

You do realise that after 20 years you are officially institutionalised :-)

Glad you have found a good cause to pursue.

I don’t have a problem with people trying it on for benefits. If a system is set up

correctly and law is applied properly they should get found out. I am more p*ssed off at lazy HCP’s at medical assessments. (Health Care Professionals – for the benefit of hamiltontim ;-)) There are some seriously f*cked up people out there and they are being done a disservice by these shoddy professionals. I am their nemesis more than i am yours, mate!

Guys like leggo are bitter and deluded, dangerous granted, but your average hun doesn’t need the likes of him to stoke their anger, little things like TV’s breaking down is enough for them.

A strange breed are the hun, hate is what drives them, the hatred of Irish, Catholic, Celtic drives them, still living in the 17th centuary, they are more to be pitied than anything else imo.

Their demise can’t come quick enough.

  24. Was watching a debate in Parliament on the Rankers situation there. The main speaker has just stated that the Administrators have “stolen” gate money from Dunfermline and Dundee Utd.

    Thanks for the explanation :-)

I agree with what you say there are many examples of people who are deserving of ESA who simply aren’t getting the support they require.

  26. dear oh dear, Keevins and the “spiteful” bloggers….Once again he tries to rewrite history. Now he wants Celtic to pay early. What a pathetic little man
