Tantric Tuesday

908

After yesterday’s action-packed fast moving day in the political world that is Scottish football today has been Tantric Tuesday as Rangers administrators, Duff and Phelps, took their time and examined all areas in consultations with players over redundancies.  Gregg Wylde and Mervan Celik left the club early afternoon as the first hard consequences of years of abundant excesses manifested, leaving Duff and Phelps joint administrators locked in talks with the rest of the players.  No one can accuse them of not working for their £600 per hour per head.

I would like to be the first to congratulate Aberdeen on winning the treble in season 1992-93. An outstanding achievement.

  1. My current thinking us that if players don’t agree to a wage cut they won’t be able to keep any that have resale value and that being the case they’re as well shutting up shop as there aren’t enough assets to make them realistically sellable. That’s why there’s so much negotiating. They need to cut the wage bill for the while squad to 80k per week. Very hard if the likes of mcgregor are in 25k+

Chc and Billy use Shortbread as a platform for their clarion call to save the huns, their talk dominated by ‘the good of the game’ – a mixture of appeals to warped nostalgia and thinly disguised threats.

Too late, Chic. An organization that had nothing but outright contempt for fairness can hardly expect mercy from those they sought to rob.

    Let them die.

impossible to move from SPL to SFL well apart from promotion & relegation.

  7. Some time ago somebody mapped the fall of the Scottish national team to the rise of spending by rangers and to a lesser extent Celtic. It’s now clear that that rise in spending by rangers was done on a basis that’s to be considered cheating. So Chick and Billy everything seems to point to rangers actually being bad for Scottish football not good.

So the players are dictating the agenda to the Administrators.

If it wasn’t serious it would be funny.

Time they were investigated. Is it all a pantomime plying out till Ken Wood gets plugged in?

What gets me is the complete desperation in the voices of these so-called experts to save the huns by any means necessary,,, talking about starting new league;s etc ,,, forgetting the huns cared not a jot for anyone else in Scottish Football whilst they were winning trophies with players they could not afford!!!

    Hail hail

  10. So Doncaster reckons the newco will be voted into the SPL, apparently the SPL board will decide. So has the board decided not too bother voting ….. Clown, does he think the other SPL clubs which make up the board will accept this…. Clown. Our club should nip this in the bud, if there’s not a suitable punishment for the Hun, then Scottish football will be finished IMO

There was no priest in last night or tonight. They stopped me from seeing my solicitor tonight, as another part of the isolation process, which, as time goes by, they will ruthlessly implement. I expect they may move me sooner than expected to an empty wing. I will be sorry to leave the boys, but I know the road is a hard one and everything must be conquered.

I have felt the loss of energy twice today, and I am feeling slightly weak.

They (the Screws) are unembarrassed by the enormous amount of food they are putting into the cell and I know they have every bean and chip counted or weighed. The damned fools don’t realise that the doctor does tests for traces of any food eaten. Regardless, I have no intention of sampling their tempting morsels.

I am sleeping well at night so far, as I avoid sleeping during the day. I am even having pleasant dreams and so far no headaches. Is that a tribute to my psychological frame of mind or will I pay for that tomorrow or later! I wonder how long I will be able to keep these scribbles going?

My friend Jennifer got twenty years. I am greatly distressed. (Twenty-one-year-old Jennifer McCann, from Belfast’s Twinbrook estate, was sentenced to twenty years’ imprisonment for shooting at an RUC man).

I have no doubts or regrets about what I am doing for I know what I have faced for eight years, and in particular for the last four and-a-half years, others will face, young lads and girls still at school, or young Gerard or Kevin (Bobby’s son and nephew, respectively) and thousands of others.

They will not criminalise us, rob us of our true identity, steal our individualism, depoliticise us, churn us out as systemised, institutionalised, decent law-abiding robots. Never will they label our liberation struggle as criminal.

I am (even after all the torture) amazed at British logic. Never in eight centuries have they succeeded in breaking the spirit of one man who refused to be broken. They have not dispirited, conquered, nor demoralised my people, nor will they ever.

I may be a sinner, but I stand — and if it so be, will die — happy knowing that I do not have to answer for what these people have done to our ancient nation.

Thomas Clarke is in my thoughts, and MacSwiney, Stagg, Gaughan, Thomas Ashe, McCaughey. Dear God, we have so many that another one to those knaves means nothing, or so they say, for some day they’ll pay.

When I am thinking of Clarke, I thought of the time I spent in ‘B’ wing in Crumlin Road jail in September and October ‘77. I realised just what was facing me then. I’ve no need to record it all, some of my comrades experienced it too, so they know I have been thinking that some people (maybe many people) blame me for this hunger-strike, but I have tried everything possible to avert it short of surrender.

I pity those who say that, because they do not know the British and I feel more the pity for them because they don’t even know their poor selves. But didn’t we have people like that who sought to accuse Tone, Emmet, Pearse, Connolly, Mellowes: that unfortunate attitude is perennial also…

I can hear the curlew passing overhead. Such a lonely cell, such a lonely struggle. But, my friend, this road is well trod and he, whoever he was, who first passed this way, deserves the salute of the nation. I am but a mere follower and I must say Oíche Mhaith.

  20. This from the bbc website live feed.

Jim in Balfron responds to SPL chief executive Neil Doncaster’s comments this evening on Sportsound: “With respect to Neil Doncaster his interpretation of his own rules are wrong! In any company it is for the company in general meeting to determine membership . Article 14 of the SPL rules apply and the board MUST abide by that rule which says that the board can only transfer a share or admit a new club on being Directed by the members in general meeting voting with an 83 or 90% majority– any other action is Ultra Vires and leaves various parties liable in damages!!!!!”

  21. Evening all

Reading back on the posts re administrators doing deals to let players go as free agents in the summer, therebye losing asset values.

They dont have a choice here as far as i can see,

if they ask a player to take a wage cut and he says no, then his contract is torn up if they dont continue to pay wages at full level. Club would be in breach of contract.

so to get agreement to play for less now and walk as free agents is the better option for D& P.

    Am I wrong on this.

The sad bit about it is if they get straight back into the SPL I think you and I will be joined by thousands of other Celtic fans who will vote with there feet and our great club will never be the same again down to there cheating.Imo Celtic would have to find some way to get out of Scotland or considerabely down size.H.H,

    To true, Vmhan.

I was driving earlier on when I heard Dungcaster come away with that wee beauty; nearly crashed the bleedin’ car.

    What utter pash.

We’ve had the SPL rules posted and debated on here for several weeks now and nowhere do those rules suggest that it will be some kind of formality for a Phoenix Son-of-Foe Malign to waltz straight into the SPL.

On a matter of this importance the SPL Board will have to call a general meeting and a vote will be required.

The way he (Dungcaster) described it gave me flash backs to Peat’s utterances, reeking as they were with odour so familiar to many a west of Scotland bowling or golf club boardroom.

If that’s the way it turns out following what seems like the almost certain demise of der Hun, most of us will have no alternative than to jack it in.

As you suggest: ‘Our club should nip this in the bud’.

  27. RE Doncasters statement– I interpreted the SPL rules as saying the members (i.e. club reps) got their say before the board. Is “ultra vires” what they call that then?

    read for yourself

    —–

    From SPL rules article 14

    If:-

    (i) a Member shall cease to be entitled to hold a Share; or

    (ii) a trustee in sequestration, manager, receiver or administrative receiver shall be appointed in respect of a Member or any property of a Member, or an administration order shall be made in respect of a Member or any property of a Member or an order shall be made or an effective resolution passed for the winding up of a Member otherwise than for the purpose of reconstruction or amalgamation;

then that Member or its manager, receiver, administrative receiver, administrator or liquidator or any other person entitled to the Share shall, on receiving notice in writing from the Board following the Company in General Meeting passing a Qualified Resolution that such notice should be issued by the Board and confirming the identity of the proposed transferee, transfer its Share to such other person as the Board shall direct at the price of £1 and the Club owned and operated by such Member shall forthwith cease to be a member of the League and the Club owned and operated by the transferee shall become a member of the League in its place.

    From article 2

    Qualified Resolution means, in relation to those Reserved Matters referred to in Article 37, a resolution of the Company which requires the support of not less than 90% of the Members entitled to attend and vote at a General Meeting , whether all the Members of the Company actually attend and vote or not, of which notice has been duly given in accordance with these Articles, to be passed;

I don’t doubt that Celtic will stand up for whats right and I would rather see us play friendlies for a year than condone a NewCo in the SPL.
