Templar of Doom

1242

I took a nasty Pavlovian reaction today when I heard the radio announce “Derby day” before realising the presenter was talking about the actual Derby.  The last thing anyone planning a night out in Glasgow is the ‘Glasgow derby’, as it was known in its final few years.

As anyone walking the streets of Glasgow and beyond in peace tonight will testify, we don’t want it or miss it.  I prefer my football, like my streets, without this nonsense.

Knights Templar sequestrated?  Blame those “enemies”.  George Peat, Campbell Ogilvie and Lex Gold forced through his appointment as SFA chief executive, despite him not meeting selection criteria.  As every wise footballer knows, know your level.

The magnificent framed Lionel Messi top we are auctioning for 1254125 has less than two days to run, keep an eye on it here.

Copies of Willie Wallace’ autobiography, Heart of a Lion, have been flying off the shelf.  The mail order fulfilment centre will have stock replenished on Monday after running out.  Order your copy below – still time for Father’s Day.

  1. Stand-in chief executive Craig Mather has issued an ominous warning against the so-called ‘enemies of Rangers’.

Despite a number of concessions made towards the newco and a plan to place them in the SPL then First Division there is a widespread belief that somehow the Ibrox side were given a tough time by the football authorities.

The terms of the secretive five way agreement that provided the club with associate membership has yet to be revealed with Mather fuelling the notion that the club was wronged by the events of last summer.

Speaking to a gathering of supporters in California the official club website reported Mathers as telling fans: “There will be times when you want us to tackle our enemies and it will seem like we’re somehow reluctant to do so or that we don’t care.

“You might believe we don’t feel hurt to the same extent as you but I’m here to tell you we do.

“Sometimes you have to wait. We have chosen and we will continually choose the right moment to strike.

“Please, please never believe that I or any other directors don’t know the names of the people who have tried to damage this club. We know all of them.

“We know what each one tried to do and I can assure you we will never, ever forget about that.

“Rangers is on its way back now and it’s more alive and united than ever. These gatherings show that and you are powerful proof of that.”

Mathers was brought to the club by Charles Green, snapping up £1m of shares at 1p each before the December floatation that valued shares at 70p.

This idiot obviously adopting the policy of Chuckles, pander to the Huns basic aggressive instinct and guess what …… The Zombies will snap up those season tickets.

Maybe one day the zombies will learn that they are being fleeced time and time again.

ACGR, CowieBhoy and CRC came round to my house for breakfast, ACGR and I went on the Bus to the Cup Final, another great day. ACGR walked through Bannockburn with his Celtic Onesie on! And yes, the whisky flowed and was strong.

    Absolutely mate.

Tell the zombies they are persecuted and their basic violent vile tendencies will kick right in.

Wonder if Mather will be in it for the long haul or if he will punt his penny shares as soon as he can then obviously flee the country with the Hun pound before the savages lynch him ?

  10. Evening all,

I very seldom post but lurk everyday.

I understand the view of not wanting to see them (old or new) play us again.

I need to say I have have a different view. I grew up in linwood and then married and moved to viewpark. In all those days I have had friends that support rangers, old and new. I have expirienced bigotry in my workplace as an apprentice where I was singled out as the only supporting tim ( there were others but they never went to the games so were accepted).

But here’s where I differ, I don’t hold any grudges or bad will towards them. I have had the privilege of living through a time wher I watched rangers DIE, yes they DIED.

I don’t care what they, the SFA, SPL, UEFA or FIFA say, the DIED, CAPOUT, OOT THE GAME, gone.

Think about it for a second, we all seen it, we all know it, regardless of what they say they, they know it too, they DIED.

So now I think of moving forward, doing so for the good of Scottish football and there’s no doubt (to me anyway) that this will include rangers in some shape or form. There’s a million things wrong with them and the governing bodies that have tried their best to convince us all that all in the world is good and there’s nothing to see here timmie, but we know that not to be the case. The bottom line for me is this, the huns and there supporters are in denial, always have been, long before armageddon, and always will be, trying to change this is frankly peeing in the wind.

Until the day that our custodians make the vocal decision to get us out of here then we are stuck. I would love Aberdeen, Dundee utd or Hibs to stand up to the plate and provide us with the competition that we need but it’s not going to happen, that’s why the huns will be back and also why I will accept them, not welcome them, but accept them. Without competition we will regress, the crowds will fall and our league will be the poorer, competition is the only way we can prosper and the huns, unfortunately, are the only ones to provide it, it won’t be soon if at all but them back is the only hope for an exciting league.

Europe is great, in fact it’s magical but it’s always going to be a bit part for us, we’ll make up the numbers and punch above our weight occasionally, but we can harbour no realistic dreams of actually winning the competition. The scottish league is the bread and butter and where the core of our support base their decision on season books, books that finance the club for day to day living. We must as a group get our heads together and work out how to make it better.

Last point, I mentioned earlier that I have a lot of friends who support them, and as much as I have had my issues I do not recognise the intolerant, bigoted Scotland that is described on these pages, there are problems, no doubt, but on the whole I find Scotland and Glasgow in particular to be a relatively accepting society.

    HailHail

  11. Am I being incredibly stupid or what BUT how on earth can the Govan club which USED TO BE in the SPL even contemplate signing all these players that the MSM have them linked with?

I mean where is the money coming from or is this just the usual BS from a compliant media who persist in the dream that they will arise from the ashes?

Maybe I’ve been away from Scotland for too long ( left in 1965 — kinda giving my age away :<( )

celtictom – a lot of common sense there. Won’t be popular, but a lot of truth in what you say.

Only thing, I struggle to marry up your final paragraph with your growing up in Linwood.

Any Tims I know who grew up there speak of quite bitter individuals from the dark side. I watched a couple of Glasgow derbies in the St Brendan’s club, mixed company, which passed without incident. There was one occasion though, when a Rankers supporting member signed in a bunch of Huns, some of whom had alledgedly been linked with Combat18. It kicked off big style, some very ugly scenes!

That was the last time I watched a game in that club.

I’m glad you’ve moved on and not let the victimisation in the workplace define you.

    An interesting counterpoint post.

A Scottish football without the bitter version of them but an accepting and inclusive version of them with rivalry based on football alone would be ideal.

I have many Rangers supporting friends . One of them , one of my closest friends whose son coaches with their community set up , doesnt have a bitter bone in his body. I’ve taken him to a European game and he genuinely cheered us on . We disagree about many things about the whole Scottish football thing but thats life. Edwardursus, who was a frequent and much missed, imho , poster on here reminds me of him.

Unfortunately, I regret to say, that there are too many of his fellow Rangers fans who dont have his intelligence or broader world view to escape the bitterness at their core.

I wish I were wrong but I’m afraid I’m not
