The Craig Whyte narrative. Kris, Leo.

1626

Best news of the day?  Kris Commons wants to be involved tomorrow against Barcelona.  I doubt Kris is anywhere near match fit, so there’s no chance of him starting on Wednesday against Astana, but a 15 minute cameo, when the Astana players’ body clocks are telling them it’s after 2am, would go down a treat.

I’ve always been a bit more ambivalent about Leonel Messi than most.  “He’s not hit the levels of Ronaldinho” is my stock comment, and then there’s the dirty little subject.  (Tax).

But his media comments ahead of tomorrow’s International Champions Cup game, “I have a Celtic jersey at home. The games against Celtic were special and I want to remember them”, proves there’s substance to the man.

I’ve a Celtic jersey at home too, Leo.  A few of us here do.

Former-Rangers former vice-chairman Donald Findlay is to defend Craig Whyte is his forthcoming trial.

Whyte’s urban legend is going to be difficult to shift, but it’s not accurate.  We mocked Rangers fans a few years ago, referring to him as “Our Hero” but he never was.  He was the bag man for a very dirty job.

How he handled the SFA, Uefa, HMRC and, most crucially, the insolvency court, when he managed to secure the appointment of Duff and Phelps as Rangers administrators was crucial in the continuation of football at Ibrox.

It was Duff and Phelps who gave Newco the right to use the name “Rangers”, after which point Whyte could claim he was passing on “Rangers”.  Everyone else mocked this liquidation fantasy at the time.  Until liquidation became a reality, that is.

Whyte left Newco relatively safe in the hands of Charles Green, where it would have thrived, if it hadn’t faced a hostile and damaging takeover bid from its first week of life.

Our auction prize, donated by (the pretty fabulous) Celtic sponsor, Intelligent Car Leasing, closes just after 1pm today.

You can win:

2 seats in the directors’ box

Champagne reception

5 course meal in the Walfrid Suite

Fully expenses bar (pre and post-match)

Half time snacks and refreshments

Car Parking

At the game against Kilmarnock on 24 September.

Money raised from the auction will go towards building a school kitchen in Malawi for Mary’s Meals. It it will be the 5th CQN school kitchen.

Our four existing kitchens feed over 2000 primary aged kids every day. School attendance has increased 30% since kitchens were built, as kids attend for their daily meal. This has an impact on health, education and life chances.

You can follow the auction on eBay here.  Thank you.

I’m off to Aberdour now for the 12th annual CQN Golf Open.  I’ll be the one holding the jackets.

See you then.

  1. It will take time before we see a real Brendan Rodgers team on the field – shaped by him and playing his way.

This coming season will possibly be unpredictable, although funnily enough I think we will qualify for the CL.

Whether some choose to believe it, or, not, there will be a challenge from Ibrox, they seem to be ‘putting all their eggs in tbe one basket’ in a desperate attempt to deprive us of a title in the next two years- not saying that they are good enough, however we are still far from the finished article.

Overall it should be exciting period, hopefully starting with a convincing performance and decisive win on Wednesday.

Thank heavens Astana are in transition.

However all to play for — with the current squad.

  5. A crowd is a collective and as such one cannot state that the crowd was drunk yesterday but my word I reckon if everyone was tested, even with kiddies bringing down the average, the “crowd” would have failed any breathalyser.

When Efe went for a ball shortly after the OG there was a collective OOH kind of gasp and a few dozen eejits got in on the act with a bit of jeering. However from where I sat, it was that one incident, I wasn’t aware of any further booing and I felt if anything there was a backing from Efe.

Re Kev J’s, cryptic post yesterday, in the first instance Kojo is apparently alive & well and just decided he had enough of CQN and had better things to do with his life, so perhaps Kev J is making a similar decision.

Kev posted a couple of months ago that he had tests and everything was fine and he wouldn’t need a check up for a year at least.

A good day in Dublin yesterday best laugh was when we heard Sevco were losing at home to Burnley. Many of the Celtic squad travelled 8,000 miles last week for the CL Qualifier. Very valuable experience for many of the youngsters to get a game against Barca too.

The TV lot commented on the lack of ant boos during the start of the second half, not sure if this was the usual anti CFC stuff or they were making a comment off their own back.

Happily no boos in the second half.

Anyone who booed in the first half should be ashamed of themselves.

Don’t think true Celtic fans should boo the team or any player playing below par or making a mistake because we all make them – it’s part of human nature.

Be angry, be unhappy, be upset but lay off the boos – I’m sure your doctor and your better half would approve too !!

  17. Efe’s OG was a dreadful goal to lose. Completely lost, no idea where he was or where Barca players were.

  18. Considering the circumstances that Celtic players found themselves playing a game against the best team in the world sandwiched between hours of travel and two crucial Champions Lge fixtures, I thought the team did very well before a huge crowd at the Aviva. Undoubtedly the two players who caused the greatest buzz in the stadium every time they got on the ball was Messi and the brilliant Paddy Roberts. Eoghan O’Connell has really grown in physical stature for a mere 20yr old and is calm under pressure and uses the ball superbly. Pity about Efe’s og. could he possibly have a future playing in front of the back four like Paul McGrath under Jack Charlton. There is little doubt that there is a marked improvement in the team since Brendan Rodgers took over.

Exactly, mate. I’ve seen some posts referring to a lack of a shout from the other defenders, but none was required there. If Efe had had a clue of what was going on around him.

His errors are no longer a rarity. They’re a racing certainty. It’s virtually every game.

Thing is,most of us know he’s a good player. But he is being destroyed as a Celtic player. We want it to work,he wants it to work.

But it isn’t going to work.

Celtic and Efe are a destructive relationship. For the good of both,it has to end.

  22. I don’t agree with booing any player while the team is trying to win. It affects ALL players not just the one getting boo’d. I thought efe played ok yesterday but he’s just not a good defender. Stuart Armstrong has been much much worse. In fact on 3 occasions he have the ball away cheaply and put efe under pressure. As much as efe is not a defender, Armstrong is never ever a Celtic class midfielder. His fundamental ball skills are severely lacking. But don’t boo him on the park:)

Excellent post from Phil’sBlog, which highlights why we should all be ‘CHALLENGING THE LIE’

” I read the comments section with bemusement at times.

I read Rangers fans insisting their club is alive and well. The bottom line of the whole Rangers saga was the bottom line of the business. The bottom line of new Rangers aka Sevco is the bottom line of the business. Something was rank rotten at Rangers regarding business (could argue even non footballing matters were rank rotten). The list of reasons Rangers died was pretty shockingly long. But MSM failed in its public duty to alert all fans and especially Rangers fans of impending doom regarding the behind scenes business practises. The incorporated club died. Simply that means in business law of Scotland Rangers could not continue as going concern and club and company, having been joined together into a legal entity, died simultaneously. There is no legal mechanisms in law that allows separation of club and company during insolvency event. Therefore if a business (and RFC was a business and also was a legal entity due to incorporation in 1899) cannot continue as a going concern it will die unless the legal contracts and obligations preventing going concern status are fixed by administrators satisfactorily the business will die. In case of RFC this happened in public view in 2012.

The MSM failed in its duty to public and especially Rangers fans by allowing the business dealings of RFC to go on for decades in an unsustainable manner without highlighting public to potential death scenarios of the club. The MSM instead of digging into real newsworthy stories pumped out information that was lacking and in some cases pandering to failing corporate governance duties to all stakeholders in RFC. There may well be legal reasons why they couldn’t dig into the real news worthy debacle going on at RFC for years long before RFC died.

The same failure of MSM is happening all over again at Sevco aka The Rangers. But this time the added bizarreness of situation is that no negative stories about TRFC seem to hit the press. In fact they support the bizarre notion that incorporated clubs can unincorporated during death saving the club which can then incorporate as same club at new company. This is not supported by the law of incorporated clubs. And therefore its a blatant mistruth. A general propaganda news blackout has taken place in MSM and political spin has replaced truthful honest reporting. In effect the MSM news is biased to present untruthful things in a way that can perpetuate mythical non lawful tripe.

I watched the Hitchcock movie Psycho recently. In the movie Norman bates the motel owner having murdered his own mother stuck her in a chair near the window and pointed up to the shadowy figure to pretend she was still alive. Now a similar pathological deception is taking place in Scottish football. And RFC fans want it to be true. RFC corporate governance failed to save the club. In fact their poor business decisions by the stewards probably were main reason club was killed stone dead. MSM didn’t report properly the shenanigans leading up to the imminent collapse of the ailing club. Now it could be argued that the blokes running the club were respected business men and why would you report things that might affect the club running smoothly. May be something in that but nonetheless when anything untoward became newsworthy it was shelved completely. So MSM played big part in death of Rangers. When club was on death door. RFC fans expected a super hero to step out of the shadows to pay off the clubs bills and save the club. This did not happen. Therefore RFC fans helped to kill club by failing to take seriously the imminent death of Rangers.

A new club was formed in 2012 with the assets of the now dead RFC. You might say they haven’t been liquidated yet. But since vital assets and organs of RFC had been ripped from the dying carcass and placed in a new club the real RFC is no longer a going concern, no longer owner of its assets and is now a dead legal entity awaiting burial. Now since MSM failed in its public duty to alert RFC fans of impending doom in time for them to rally you might expect the MSM to be more vigilant with the new legal entity TRFC. You might expect RFC fans to be more interested in their new clubs financial affairs to prevent a similar occurrence happening with their new club. You might have expected RFC demanding clean open honest accountable and sustainable stewardship from TRFC corporate stewards. But no this did not happen. The stewards have so far have openly lied and misled TRFC fans at every opportunity. MSM has decided to continue its policy of not rocking the boat and even perpetuating non legal mythology. And TRFC fans continue in their delusion hubris and self entitlement, completely disowning any decency towards Scottish football generally but even worse their old clubs life expectancy and now their new clubs life expectancy. The bottom line is the bottom line and the sums don’t add up. A loss making entity without a credit line suggests one of two things. 1 Someone with money to burn is burning their own money 2 More deceptive stewardship in line with old club is required to continue the charade a few years more but ultimately no interest in long term sustainability or running as a proper business. Should either of these scenarios be true then MSM should be investigating a company that is destroying wealth. Narcissitic Pride, Hubris, inability to plan ahead most likely suggest TRFC will be dead like their organ donor RFC unless this cycle is broken.

Instead of MSM reporting the news about a rogue new club with delusions or grandeur they are instead pointing up to the window of a rickety old house and saying we can see the old woman in the window she must still be aive because Norman wouldn’t tell us lies. Believing RFC is alive and pointing to a shadowy world of deception doesn’t make it true. But thats what I read RFC fans doing every day. Instead of referring to the legal status of RFC they have pathologically created imaginary things that objectively don’t represent a living entity anymore. RFC is dead just like Norman bates mother was dead. Norman Bates in his madness had convinced himself his mother was still alive. He would point to the shadowy figure. RFC fans point to an equally shadowy window. MSM still haven’t investigated the death of RFC they too point to a shadowy window of hope. This leaves Scottish football open to even more bizarre stewardship. Going concern isn’t problem any longer. All clubs can just ditch debts and continue as same club. Norman bates mother was killed by Norman bates directly. RFC was killed by RFC fans indirectly but ultimately RFC fans killed their own club. Hubris extreme risk and denial was the main factors. This has continued in the new club. RFC fans pointing to false sources of existence is no different to Norman bates pointing to the shadowy figure in his mother bedroom window.

All attacks by RFC and now TRFC fans against searching for truth about both their clubs financial dealings helped kill old club. And it will help kill new club unless you snap out of your delusion.

You can deny all you like the club is running itself into another insolvency event. But the sums don’t add up. And no-one is looking for the answers you need to save your second club. Hubris and delusion have convinced you that MSM would report something amiss. But they didn’t with Real RFC. Why would they do it now when they bought into the Shadowy figure in the window theory?

Phil is not the problem. MSM is the Problem.

If you don’t find his info intriguing then go read the MSM. They will tell you what you want to hear if you don’t want to believe RFC died in 2012. “
